Charlie Kirk and Rob Schneider Debate Kamala Harris Supporter on Homeownership, War, and the Border

Charlie Kirk and Rob Schneider engage in a candid conversation with Miles, a Kamala Harris supporter, at a conservative event. What starts as a discussion about character and middle-class policies quickly turns into a detailed breakdown of homeownership affordability, foreign wars, and border security. Kirk challenges Miles to compare Trump's record with Harris's actions on these critical issues, revealing the gap between campaign promises and political reality. The exchange highlights the importance of looking beyond advertisements to examine what politicians have actually accomplished.

A Rare Conversation Across Political Divides

At a conservative event, Miles, a Kamala Harris supporter, approached Charlie Kirk and Rob Schneider with a question about sincerity and belief. Miles wondered whether Kirk faced bias when speaking at major Republican events and whether he truly believed what he was saying when surrounded by MAGA supporters. Kirk immediately pushed back on what he called a bad faith question, noting that the assumption itself suggested insincerity in their beliefs.

Kirk explained that the only benefit of attending such events is to engage with people like Miles because of a deep love for the country. He expressed concern about fundamental disruptions to what makes America the greatest experiment in human history, particularly regarding free speech. Kirk pointed to statements from Kamala Harris and Tim Walz describing free speech as a privilege rather than a guaranteed First Amendment right, calling this either constitutionally ignorant or knowingly false.

He emphasized that free speech protects not just nice or agreeable statements, but especially the speech that people disagree with. If the government decides what speech is acceptable, Kirk argued, they will always do what's best for the government, not the people. He pledged to protect Miles's right to free speech and to vote however he wanted, always.

Why Support Kamala Harris?

When Kirk turned the question around and asked Miles why he supported Kamala Harris, the answer focused on character and a perception that she's working for the middle class. Miles stated he liked her character more than Trump's and believed she was trying to help the middle class. However, when Kirk asked what Harris or Joe Biden had actually done for the middle class in the last four years, Miles admitted he wasn't sure about that.

Kirk acknowledged that it takes courage to come to an event like this and wear a Kamala hat. He then explained that Kamala Harris is part of a tradition of career politicians who run persuasive political advertisements that don't align with what they've actually done. Kirk proposed examining the issues most relevant to someone Miles's age.

The Homeownership Crisis

Kirk focused first on homeownership, confirming that Miles's main goal was to own a home. Kirk emphasized that everyone in the audience should be able to own a home as easily as their parents did, but that it's now especially out of reach in Phoenix. The numbers tell a stark story. When Trump was president, the average mortgage payment in Phoenix was $700 a month. Now it's $2,000 a month. It required $75,000 a year to buy a home in Phoenix during the Trump presidency. Now it requires $135,000 a year.

Kirk explained how this was Biden and Harris's fault. They decided to spend six to seven trillion dollars of unnecessary government spending right out of the gate, which increased asset prices. Additionally, they allowed 10 million people into the country that weren't accounted for, increasing demand for housing, especially in Arizona. If Kamala Harris was going to address homeownership affordability, Kirk argued, she would have done it in the last four years.

Ending the Wars

Kirk then turned to ending wars, though Miles seemed less certain about this issue. Kirk pointed out that Kamala Harris has surrounded herself with people who are aggressively in favor of the Russian-Ukrainian war and the same people who designed the failed wars of Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Libya. He named Liz Cheney, Dick Cheney, Leon Panetta, and John Bolton as examples.

In contrast, Donald Trump is the only president in an unbroken chain of 32 years to start no new wars and actually bring peace to the Middle East. There were no new wars under Donald Trump, a record that stands out dramatically from his predecessors and successors.

Border Security and American Priority

Kirk briefly mentioned the border issue, stating his belief that everyone in the audience should be given preference above somebody who illegally comes into the country uninvited. When Trump was president, America had the most secure border in history. Under Kamala Harris and Joe Biden, 10 million people have entered the country and receive taxpayer-funded benefits, luxury hotel rooms, and flights into the interior of the country.

Kirk summarized the three critical issues: homeownership, the border, and war. He challenged Miles to show anything Kamala has done that demonstrates she's better than Trump on those three things. Miles admitted he couldn't.

The Propaganda Problem

Kirk encouraged Miles to do his research because it's very tempting to fall for propaganda seen on TV. He suggested that many people in the audience could give Miles something to think about and consider. Kirk argued that Kamala Harris doesn't care about Miles but rather about her own political career. Trump is different.

Kirk pointed to Trump's resilience as evidence of his commitment. The man has been shot multiple times, faces 700 years in prison, had all his money and business empire taken from him, and keeps fighting. There's something about Trump, Kirk suggested, that demonstrates he cares deeply about the well-being of American lives and livelihoods, putting the country first.

Democracy and the Selective Service

Rob Schneider added an important point about what has happened under the Biden-Harris administration. They've put the selective service back in, and Smith emphasized that he doesn't want any young people fighting on foreign soil or in any wars. He then addressed the claim that Democrats are saving democracy by reviewing recent Democratic primary history.

In 2016, Bernie Sanders technically won the Democratic nomination for president, but they didn't give it to him. They used superdelegates to dump him and install who they wanted, undemocratically, in the primary. In 2020, Biden lost the first two primaries, and then everyone else was made to drop out. Democratic voters had no choice but to vote for Biden.

The same thing happened in 2024. Fourteen million people voted for Biden in the Democratic primary, and none of those votes counted because they decided to take him out when they thought they could lose. They anointed Kamala Harris with zero votes. Smith called this not democracy but tyranny, giving a taste of what they intend to do if they remain in power.

A Fair Hearing

Kirk asked Miles whether he had heard these three issues discussed previously in a fair setting. Miles admitted he had not heard it in a fair setting before and appreciated the one-on-one conversation. Kirk thanked him for coming up and encouraged him to think about what they discussed.

As Miles walked away, he said something about turning Arizona blue, which broke the moment of goodwill Kirk had tried to establish. Kirk acknowledged that despite the challenging exchange, they would still do what's best for Miles and look out for every American. The encounter illustrated the difficulty of political conversations but also the importance of attempting them, even when they don't end perfectly.
