Charlie Kirk Defends His Pro-Israel Stance and Explains Why Christians Should Support the Holy Land

Charlie Kirk faces a pointed challenge about his statement that Christians who don't support Israel don't truly love their Bible. The questioner brings up Israeli espionage, the WMD controversy, and even Charlie's own suggestion about the Hamas attack. In his response, Charlie doesn't defend the Israeli government's policies. Instead, he shifts the conversation to something deeper: the physical reality of the Holy Land where Jesus lived, ministered, and rose from the dead. He describes how visiting Israel transformed abstract Bible stories into tangible reality, from Bethlehem to Capernaum to the Garden Tomb. Drawing on Genesis, Romans, and Thessalonians, Charlie argues that supporting Israel isn't about modern politics but about honoring the land where Christianity was born and the scriptural command to bless the Jewish people.

The Challenge: Questioning Faith and Foreign Policy

During a Turning Point USA event, Charlie Kirk faced a confrontational question about his strong pro-Israel stance. The questioner pointed out that Charlie had spent half his speech discussing a foreign country and referenced a statement Charlie made at a previous Young Jewish Leadership Summit: "A Christian that's not pro-Israel, I doubt they actually love their Bible."

The challenge was direct and multifaceted. The questioner asked why Christians should support a country of a different religion that has allegedly spied on America, attacked it, and misled it about weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. The question became even more pointed when the questioner brought up Charlie's own suggestion that Israel may have allowed the Hamas attack to happen, asking why anyone would support a government capable of such a thing.

When asked if he still stood by his original statement, Charlie's answer was immediate and unequivocal: "I definitely stand by the statement."

Redirecting to Biblical Foundations

Rather than defending Israeli government policies, Charlie immediately shifted the conversation to biblical and historical foundations. He began by asking the questioner about Jesus: what religion Jesus believed, and where Jesus was born.

When the questioner suggested Jesus was "the first Christian," Charlie clarified the historical reality: Jesus was Jewish, born in Bethlehem, raised in Nazareth, and walked on water in Capernaum. He then asked a pointed question: "What country are those places in right now?"

When the questioner dismissed the relevance of the question, Charlie explained why it matters profoundly to him as a Christian believer.

Israel as a Living Testament to Scripture

Charlie recounted his personal experience visiting Israel and how it transformed his understanding of Scripture. "When I went to Israel, I came in contact with a living God that walked on water and rose Lazarus from the dead," he explained. "When I went to Israel, I saw the Bible come to life."

He described visiting specific biblical sites that made ancient stories tangible and real:

  • The Hall of the Patriarchs, where Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Sarah, Rebecca, and Leah are memorialized
  • The places where Jesus walked, cried, was betrayed by Judas, and was arrested
  • The location where Jesus rose from the dead, offering eternal life to believers

For Charlie, these experiences transformed Bible stories from abstractions into verified realities. "These are not fairy tales or fables or things that we tell our kids," he emphasized. "This is the word of God. This is real."

Distinguishing Government from Holy Land

Charlie was careful to make an important distinction throughout his response. "I am not an apologist for Israel," he stated clearly, later adding, "The Israeli government, plenty of suspicious things going on."

His support wasn't rooted in defending contemporary political decisions or government actions. Instead, it was anchored in the biblical and historical significance of the land itself as the place where Christianity was born and where Jesus lived, ministered, died, and resurrected.

The Scriptural Command to Bless Israel

Charlie rejected what he called the narrative of "Christians who turn their back on Israel," citing specific scriptural passages to support his position. He referenced Genesis, Romans, and First Thessalonians, noting that the Apostle Paul wrote: "You will bless the Jews. If you bless Israel, you will be blessed. If you scorn Israel, you will be scorned."

This biblical command, Charlie argued, transcends political considerations and speaks to a spiritual principle that Christians are called to follow.

Archaeological Confirmation of Biblical Truth

Charlie also pointed to the ongoing archaeological discoveries in Israel that continue to confirm the historical accuracy of Scripture. "How do we know the Bible is true?" he asked. "Every day there are archaeological discoveries that confirm the truths of the Bible in First Samuel, in First Kings, in First Chronicles."

He framed opposition to Israel and attempts to delegitimize the significance of the Holy Land as part of a broader spiritual battle. "There is a diabolical satanic agenda every single day to try and delegitimize the scriptures," he warned.

A Defense Without Apology

Charlie concluded his response with a clear statement of his position: "I will defend the Holy Land, the place where my Lord and Savior lived, and I will not apologize for that."

His stance represents a theological position held by many evangelical Christians: that supporting Israel is not primarily about modern geopolitics but about honoring the biblical narrative, the land where Jesus walked, and the scriptural commands to bless the Jewish people. While acknowledging concerns about government actions, Charlie maintains that Christians have a biblical obligation that transcends contemporary political controversies.
