The Venom That Must Be Taught
Kirk observes that the venom and vitriol displayed by these students must be taught—it is not natural. He points out that you can visit countries with basically no sanitation and very little access to food, and the people there don't have that kind of venom or anger. This hatred is being deliberately taught by a group of radical leftist professors.
These professors, Kirk contends, could not exist, succeed, or thrive in the world outside academia. They take such ownership over the next generation's ideological direction, and they themselves are very unhappy people. The entire university system is run by leftists who are so unhappy to be American that they deal with it by projecting their discontent and hatred of America onto a generation that is looking to change the world.
The Contradiction of Teaching America Is Racist
Kirk addresses the fundamental contradiction in the leftist narrative. Students come into college and are told that the right way to approach America is to say it is a racist, bigoted, homophobic country. But Kirk challenges this logic with pointed questions:
If America was such a racist country, why do they want more people to keep coming here?
If America was such a horrible country, why do they want open borders?
Shouldn't they want to kick people out of this country if it's so terrible?
If America was a racist country, why does the caravan go north to America and not south to Venezuela?
The Ultimate Test: Where Do People Choose to Go?
Kirk presents what he sees as the ultimate proof of America's greatness: people's choices. Why is it that people build rafts and boats out of garbage to leave Havana to come to Miami, Florida? And once they arrive here, they don't go back.
He concludes with a simple but powerful observation: if you have to prevent people from leaving your country, your country isn't that good. The flow of migration tells the real story—people risk everything to reach America, proving through their actions what they truly believe about this country versus the places they're fleeing.
