Cuba as Charlie Kirk's Recurring Example of Socialism's Failure

Showing 53 Cuba videos from Charlie Kirk's video collection.

Cuba served as one of Charlie Kirk's most frequently cited real-world examples in his broader argument against socialism, appearing across debates, documentary footage, and man-on-the-street interviews. Kirk grouped Cuba alongside the Soviet Union, Zimbabwe, and Vietnam in a recorded address cataloging what he called a century of socialist failure across every continent, challenging the claim that "real socialism has never been tried." Benny Johnson brought that argument into sharper focus with documentary footage he shot inside Cuban government-run grocery stores, describing Havana's infrastructure and food shortages as evidence of the same policies' human cost, before drawing a direct comparison to New York City's political direction under emerging socialist leadership. Johnson separately polled supporters of Bernie Sanders at the Iowa State Fair, asking them to name a country where socialism had worked, and found few willing to cite Cuba, Venezuela, or North Korea despite advocating the same underlying system. Not every appearance of Cuba in this content was polemical: one attendee at Kirk's memorial service, a Cuban immigrant, described experiencing the gathering's voluntary scale as a personal reminder of the difference between a society people choose to join and one enforced by the state Cuba's own history represented for her family.
