Charlie Kirk on Turning Point USA's Strategy to Shift Youth Worldview and Build Campus Resilience
Charlie Kirk reveals how Turning Point USA has contributed to a 13-point collapse in liberal identification among young Americans since 2017, dropping from 47% to 34% according to Morning Consult data. Kirk outlines the organization's expansion strategy, including reaching 1,000 high school chapters, launching TPUSA Faith to counter woke ideology in churches, and building a media empire reaching hundreds of millions. He emphasizes that conservative students are becoming tougher through campus opposition, creating a generation that refuses to back down against criticism and cancel culture.
The work happening on college and high school campuses through Turning Point USA is moving the dial in ways many people don't fully understand. The depth and sophistication of what the organization has accomplished represents a significant cultural shift. From a big picture worldview perspective, the data tells a compelling story.
In 2017, when Turning Point was just getting started and the annual event was small, 47 percent of the nation's young people self-identified with a liberal worldview. Five years later, that number dropped to 34 percent—a 13-point collapse. While more young people still identify as liberal than conservative, and conservative identification only increased by one point, this represents movement in the right direction. This shift is particularly notable considering the opposition: the education system and digital social media platforms that dominate young people's lives.
Expanding the High School Chapter Network
Turning Point USA is on pace to hit 1,000 high school chapters across the country. These chapters represent more than just student groups meeting on campus. High school students who aren't yet involved are encouraged to visit the organization's booth in the exhibit hall to start a chapter at their school.
The chapters being started on college and high school campuses aren't simply about having a group presence. They're creating students who have to persevere and endure criticism, backlash, slander, smear campaigns, and opposition. This adversity is forging stronger advocates.
Why Conservative Students Are Winning Through Resilience
One of the reasons for optimism about the future is that young conservatives are tougher than their liberal counterparts. The opposition is fragile—they can't hear a speaker without trying to deploy shock troops. The opposition hasn't had to contend or fight for their beliefs in the same way.
Conservative students at Turning Point USA face real challenges: being graded differently, getting kicked out of class, and various forms of discrimination. Rather than weakening the movement, this persecution is creating a conservative movement that grows stronger the more they fight. What gives hope is seeing a generation that understands the only way to beat the left is to never give up and never give them an inch, period.
It doesn't matter what they call you. It doesn't matter the names, the smears, or the slander. The strategy is clear: stand firm regardless of the opposition.
TPUSA Faith: Confronting Woke Ideology in Churches
Turning Point USA Faith launched a year and a half ago as an initiative to engage with American Christianity. The organization recently hosted a pastor summit with over 400 pastors and their wives in attendance.
According to Kirk, one of the most important things that needs to happen in American Christianity is to excommunicate the demonic, anti-biblical idea of wokism out of the American Church immediately. This represents a direct challenge to progressive theology that has gained influence in some Christian circles.
Building a Conservative Media Empire
The media department at Turning Point USA is reaching hundreds of millions of people through various platforms. Daily shows featuring Jack Posobiec, Drew Hernandez, and Alex Clark are part of this media strategy. The organization impacts millions of people on Instagram and Facebook every single day, creating persuasive content that shapes culture and political discourse.
This multi-platform approach allows Turning Point USA to reach young people where they already spend their time, countering the liberal messaging that dominates much of social media and traditional education systems.
