Charlie Kirk Rejects White Privilege as Racist, Points to Asian American Success Since Internment Camps
Charlie Kirk responds to a college audience member who challenges his standing to speak on privilege and oppression, arguing that the entire concept of white privilege is itself a racist idea. He points to Asian Americans and Indian Americans as the highest-earning groups in the country, noting that Asian Americans endured internment camps and widespread discrimination in the 1940s and 50s yet rose to become the wealthiest per capita sub-racial group in America without anyone framing their success as "privilege." Kirk argues that singling out white people while ignoring Asian American achievement exposes the real goal: dividing the country into competing racial factions. He calls that division, not any inherited advantage, the true definition of racism at work in the debate.
During a campus Q&A, Charlie Kirk was challenged by an attendee who asked how he, as a white Christian, could speak on issues of privilege and oppression without having lived through them himself. Kirk used the question as an opening to lay out why he believes the entire framework of "white privilege" is flawed.
Why Kirk Calls White Privilege a Myth
Kirk stated plainly that white privilege is a myth and, in his words, "a lie" that should be completely rejected. He argued the concept is rooted in racism and is itself a racist idea, since it assigns advantage or disadvantage to people based solely on their race.
Pointing to Asian American Success
To make his case, Kirk noted that the highest-achieving groups in America by income are not white Americans but Asian Americans and Indian Americans. He asked why, if privilege were purely about race, no one talks about "Asian American privilege."
Kirk reminded listeners that Asian Americans were widely discriminated against in the 1940s and 50s, including being placed in internment camps. Despite that history, he said, Asian Americans made a series of good choices over subsequent decades and became the richest per capita sub-racial group in America.
A Double Standard, According to Kirk
Kirk said he never hears anyone upset that Asian Americans disproportionately earn PhDs, advanced degrees, or top jobs in states like California. He contrasted that silence with the constant focus on white people, arguing this selective outrage reveals the real agenda.
The Real Definition of Racism
Kirk concluded that if the goal is to "balkanize" the country by breaking Americans into competing sub-racial groups, that effort itself is the definition of racism.
