Charlie Kirk Speaks in Japan on Fighting Globalism and Preserving National Identity Through Family and Faith

Charlie Kirk delivered a speech in Tokyo, warning Japanese audiences about the dangers of globalism threatening their nation's unique culture and identity. Speaking to a receptive crowd, Kirk drew parallels between challenges facing America and Japan, particularly regarding immigration pressures, declining birth rates, and the erosion of traditional values. He emphasized that the same globalist forces that sought to transform America are now targeting Japan, urging the Japanese people to resist cultural erasure through strengthening families, having more children, and maintaining their distinct national character. Kirk shared how Turning Point USA helped mobilize young Americans to reject leftist ideology, offering hope that similar movements could preserve Japan's heritage.

A Warning From America to Japan

Charlie Kirk began his first visit to Japan with high praise for what he witnessed walking the streets of Tokyo. He observed a society where everything functions smoothly, where bus drivers wear perfectly clean uniforms, where every airport employee and shopkeeper takes pride in their work. This combination of pride and perfectionism, he noted, creates a functioning society unlike anything he has seen elsewhere.

However, Kirk warned that this amazing country faces grave danger. If current trends continue, he said, the Japan that has impressed him since arriving could be gone within years, existing only in memory and photographs.

The Globalist Threat to National Identity

Kirk explained that forces of globalism are ramping up pressure on Japan, though most Japanese people don't understand how dangerous things truly are. He expressed hope that with hard work, Japan can avoid the fate that befell many Western nations.

The speaker criticized Japan's political situation, where essentially one party has dominated for decades. He compared this to situations in American states where the same party repeatedly wins, leading citizens to tune out, stop caring, and stop paying attention. This disengagement, he argued, provides an easy excuse for people to disengage from civic life entirely.

Turning Point USA's Mission

Kirk shared his personal story of founding Turning Point USA in 2012 when he was just 18 years old. What began as a one-year gap from university turned into a lifelong mission. He was told repeatedly that there was no chance of defeating the left-wing coalition under Barack Obama, that American conservatives would have to accept amnesty for illegal immigrants and globalist policies.

At 18 years old, Kirk refused to accept this defeatist narrative. He told people his generation could win, fight back, and change the political landscape. Despite facing ridicule and being called naive, he persisted in his belief that young people could be mobilized for conservative causes.

The Remarkable Shift in American Youth Politics

Kirk described the transformation he witnessed in American politics. In 2012, when Turning Point USA was founded, only 30 percent of young people supported conservative positions. By 2020, this had grown to 23 percent. But in the 2024 election, something remarkable happened.

Donald Trump reached a dead heat with Democrats among all young voters and won the youth vote in critical battleground states. Young men voted for Trump decisively, representing one of the most rapid and unexpected political swings in history. Voters under 30 shifted dramatically toward nationalism, patriotism, and fighting globalism.

Young men, Kirk explained, are fed up with being shamed for being men, angry that an expert class locked them up during COVID for almost no reason, and tired of being bossed around by people who hate them.

America's Immigration Crisis Under Biden

Kirk did not mince words about the Biden administration's immigration policies. He stated that Biden literally opened the country to 10 million people without knowing who they were, many from countries that wished America harm. This wasn't merely pro-immigration policy, Kirk argued—it was truly anti-American, reflecting a hatred of America and a desire for bad things to happen to the country and its people.

Why Nationalism Doesn't Mean Isolation

Kirk clarified an important point about nationalism. Despite spending his life fighting for America, being an American nationalist makes him also a nationalist for other countries. He wants every nation to thrive and maintain its distinct character.

He used a food analogy to explain his philosophy: imagine having chicken, beef, sushi, vegetables, French fries, lasagna, watermelon spread before you. Now imagine someone taking all those foods and dumping them into one giant blender, blending them until there's just one big sludge. That sludge, he said, is what globalism seeks to create—an indistinguishable mass where all distinctions between countries and cultures are erased.

Japan's Demographic Crisis

Kirk presented sobering statistics about Japan's population decline. He noted that Japan's population has been shrinking, with the birthrate falling below 2.0 children per woman for 50 years. One-third of the population is now over 65 years old.

This demographic reality, Kirk warned, is precisely what gives globalists their opening. Without children, a nation has no future, making it vulnerable to arguments for mass immigration to maintain population levels.

Rejecting the Immigration Solution

Kirk forcefully rejected the notion that Japan needs immigration to solve its demographic challenges. He recounted how people in America argue that without immigration to keep the population growing, America would become like Japan. His response: "Oh no, imagine being like Japan where the streets of every city are completely safe, where there is zero crime."

He warned Japanese audiences that if they follow the immigration path taken by Western nations, their country will become dirtier and less well-run, with a larger group of people who don't understand or respect Japanese culture, heritage, and birthright. Children will attend public schools who don't read or speak Japanese, and the country will feel less and less like Japan.

The Political Manipulation Through Immigration

Kirk described a cynical political formula he has observed: politicians desperate for power will import new voters from another country, fight to give citizenship and voting rights to foreign arrivals, then try to buy their votes with taxpayer dollars. They will shame anyone who objects, calling them racist, or claim the country deserves this fate because of historical conflicts from long ago.

He pointed to Britain as a cautionary example, where people have been harassed, fined, and even arrested for social media posts critical of migrants or Islam. Just weeks before his speech, he noted, similar incidents had occurred.

The Solution: Family and Faith

Kirk emphasized that everyone in the audience needs to fight to make their nation's young people get married, stay married, and have children. He joked with the married members of the audience, urging them to have lots of children—six or seven if possible.

He argued that ancestors from 1,000 or 10,000 years ago would find it incomprehensible that the greatest problem facing their descendants would not be shelter or food, but the lack of children. They would think something was fundamentally wrong.

Turning Point USA's Example

Kirk shared that at Turning Point USA, they try to set an example. He has two beautiful young children, and some staff members already have five or six. They have a competition at the organization for who can have the most children. His advice: "Have more children than you can afford to. Nobody I know regrets having one more child. But I know many who regret not having more."

The Importance of Purpose and Duty

Responding to audience questions, Kirk addressed the challenge of motivating young people. He emphasized that young people need purpose—they have to feel connected to their nation. One of the things globalists have tried to do is disconnect citizens from attachment to their government and country.

He identified nihilism as a civilization destroyer, a belief system that says there's no purpose in life, no meaning, no reason to go on. This morality, which has destroyed most of the West, attempts to convince people that only individual pleasure matters.

Kirk praised the Japanese concept of duty, noting how it embeds an implication that there's something above you that you owe your time and commitment to. This is visible throughout Tokyo, from bus drivers to police officers who understand their work isn't just about what they want, but about serving a greater cause.

Technology and the Modern Challenge

Kirk acknowledged that both countries face challenges from technology, social media, and online gaming, where messaging is always about the individual—not about something bigger than yourself, whether that be God or nation. This is a destructive force on par with globalism itself.

The solution, he argued, is creating conditions where people feel called toward duty and honor, even though the modern world increasingly thinks of duty as a negative word. Adults, politicians, and leaders must create something worth aiming toward, something worth pointing your life toward—otherwise society will have an aimless generation.

Educational Values and National Identity

On education, Kirk criticized efforts in America like the 1619 Project, which attempted to reframe America's founding from July 4, 1776 (the actual founding date celebrated every year) to 1619 when the first African slaves arrived. He described this as a plot by Marxists and globalists to change the identity of the United States.

His message was clear: you must know what you stand for, you must know what you want to point toward, and that is what you must educate. Values-based education is critical, and national identity must be preserved and taught to future generations.

A Message of Solidarity

Kirk concluded by expressing that America stands with the Japanese people. As an outsider, he could tell them that Americans fight against the same common enemies. He expressed his desire to see Japan great again, just as Americans are working to make their own country great again.

His fundamental message about nationalism included a sense of humility—that he will not tell Japan what to do, and Japanese people should be able to chart their own course. It's necessary for citizens to love their nation more than they fear being called names by the media, more than they fear criticism from globalist institutions.
