Charlie Kirk Supporters Gather in Phoenix to Mourn Him and Pledge to Continue His Mission
Supporters of Charlie Kirk gathered outside Turning Point USA's headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, laying flowers, writing messages on crosses, and joining together in prayer to honor his memory. Mourners described feeling compelled to continue his political and spiritual mission rather than retreat into silence, with several saying the gathering reflected people of every faith, race, and background rather than the narrow caricature painted by his critics. A larger memorial service is set to follow at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, with his widow, Erika Kirk, President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and several cabinet members scheduled to speak.
Mourners Gather Outside Turning Point USA Headquarters
Supporters of conservative activist Charlie Kirk gathered outside Turning Point USA's headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona, to honor his memory. Many laid flowers at the site, wrote messages on crosses, and joined together in prayer.
"We're Not Going to Remain Silent"
Mourners at the gathering said they felt compelled to carry on Kirk's political mission rather than back away from it.
"Coming to this, to the funeral, just symbolized: hey, we're not going to shut up. We're not going to back down. We're not going to remain silent," one mourner said. "This actually, unfortunately, although it's sad and we wish it never happened and it's a nightmare, we're going to make this something good, and we're going to fight to the best of our ability to carry on his legacy and to make America great again."
Another mourner framed the moment as a call to keep speaking openly about faith rather than retreating from public life.
"I think really just going forward, just spreading the faith about that, you know, just like he was doing, and just keep talking and not hiding anymore. We can't hide when we go out places to share our faith or what we believe. They shut his voice down," the mourner said. "But I hope that with just this memorial itself, it should dictate that this ain't the end of his legacy."
A Memorial That Reflects "Every Walk of Life"
Several mourners pushed back on critics who they said were mischaracterizing Kirk and his supporters, pointing to the diversity of the crowd gathered outside the Turning Point USA headquarters.
"It was a special thing to come and see all these people, and it's all faiths that I've seen, all colors and all creeds. I've heard different languages," one mourner said. "So the people that want to be the haters and running the streets right now, saying that he was something different from what he exactly was, they should come here and see all walks of life, because there's every walk of life that I've seen in just five minutes being here."
A Larger Memorial Service Set for Glendale
A larger memorial service for Kirk is scheduled to take place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. Scheduled speakers include his widow, Erika Kirk, President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, and several cabinet members.
