The Battle Over Federal Immigration Supremacy
A rhetorical battle is brewing between incoming President Trump's administration and Democratic mayors and governors who are publicly declaring they will defy federal authority on immigration enforcement. Charlie Kirk identifies this as a critical test of federal supremacy, noting the irony that while Texas Governor Greg Abbott was prevented from securing the southern border, blue state officials now claim they can obstruct federal deportation efforts.
Kirk draws a clear line between protected speech and criminal obstruction. While mayors have every right to protest federal policy through marches and public statements, actively sabotaging the execution of federal law constitutes a crime. He points to the case of Oakland's mayor during Trump's first term, who helped illegal immigrants evade ICE as a precedent for what he views as criminal behavior.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu Pledges Non-Cooperation
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu publicly stated her city would not cooperate with mass deportation efforts, claiming such actions would threaten public safety by causing widespread fear and economic impact. Wu emphasized that while the federal government has certain responsibilities and cities cannot override federal authority, Boston would do everything possible to protect its residents and refuse cooperation with enforcement efforts.
Kirk's response is unequivocal: if this defiance materializes, Attorney General Matt Gaetz should arrest Michelle Wu and prosecute her under federal law for violation of rights or other applicable criminal codes. He emphasizes this measure should be used sparingly and with precision, but believes federal prison is the appropriate consequence for officials who prevent the deportation of foreign nationals and obstruct border security.
Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs Takes Similar Stance
Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, whom Turning Point Action is targeting for removal in 2026, stated she would not allow state police or the National Guard to participate in what she called "misguided efforts that harm our communities." When asked specifically about mass deportations, Hobbs hedged slightly but maintained she would not participate in efforts she views as harmful.
Kirk characterizes Hobbs as unintelligent and notes she was largely absent during the election cycle, aware of her unpopularity. He points out that Arizona has an estimated quarter million undocumented immigrants and that Hobbs represents an unpopular minority position in what proved to be Trump's best-performing swing state in the election.
Congressman Eli Crane on Federal Law and State Obstruction
Arizona Congressman Eli Crane joined the discussion to address the legal realities of state resistance to federal immigration enforcement. Crane emphasized that governors and mayors are not required to cooperate with federal deportations, but they absolutely cannot obstruct federal law enforcement officers like ICE from executing their duties.
Crane expressed satisfaction with Trump's appointment of Tom Homan as a "border security hammer," noting Homan has been explicit that federal agents will enter sanctuary cities with or without local cooperation, doubling the number of agents if necessary to remove illegal immigrants. Crane highlighted the real harms to Arizona communities from MS-13 gang members, Venezuelan gangs, individuals on terror watch lists, and fentanyl flowing across the open southern border.
The congressman made clear that Hobbs doesn't understand the law—she cannot prevent federal law enforcement from operating in Arizona. If necessary, Congress will provide ICE with resources to double their agent presence in non-cooperative jurisdictions.
Legislative Priorities and Congressional Support
Crane outlined several legislative priorities to support Trump's immigration enforcement agenda. These include defunding sanctuary cities and passing HR2, described as the most comprehensive border bill ever passed by Congress but blocked by the Senate and President Biden. Crane noted that Trump has assembled an exceptional team including Stephen Miller, Tom Homan, and others who will develop specific enforcement plans.
The congressman emphasized that much of the Republican conference stands ready to support the administration's border security agenda. He credited Turning Point and Turning Point Action, particularly the work of Charlie Kirk and Tyler Bowyer, with Arizona's strong performance for Trump through activism and voter mobilization.
Warning to Establishment Republican Senators
Kirk and Crane directed pointed warnings at establishment Republican senators who have not yet voiced support for Trump's cabinet nominees. Crane expressed strong support for nominees who have been victims of what he calls a weaponized federal government, including Pete Hegseth, Tulsi Gabbard, and Matt Gaetz.
The message to hesitant senators is clear: the game has changed. The American people gave Trump a massive mandate, and figures like Elon Musk with massive platforms and deep pockets have pledged to fund primary challenges against senators who obstruct the president's agenda. Kirk specifically called out senators in deep-red Trump states including Idaho, South Dakota, Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Mississippi, with the exception of Senator Markwayne Mullin who has been supportive.
Kirk's final warning to these "old bull senators" is direct: vote to confirm Trump's nominees or face a primary challenge at your doorstep. The landscape has fundamentally changed, and resistance to the Trump agenda will carry political consequences in states that gave the president overwhelming support.
Turning Point Action's 2026 Arizona Strategy
Kirk announced that removing Katie Hobbs and Secretary of State Adrian Fontes represents "step two" of Turning Point Action's project. The organization is focused on the 2026 election cycle to remove what Kirk calls Hobbs and her "group of bandits" currently controlling Arizona state government. He emphasized that Hobbs exists in an unpopular minority in a state that proved to be Trump's strongest swing state performance, setting the stage for a major political battle in the next election cycle.

[00:00] there is this looming rhetorical issue
[00:03] and I say rhetorical intentionally
[00:06] because I'm not sure this is going to
[00:08] continue once Trump is president of
[00:11] Governors and Mayors saying that they
[00:14] will
[00:15] defy federal government Supremacy when
[00:19] it comes to deporting illegals the
[00:22] latest of which is the individual that
[00:24] we at Turning Point action are now
[00:26] focused on removing in 2026 get getting
[00:30] Katie Hobbs and Chris Mays fired that is
[00:33] step two of our project by the way at
[00:35] Turning Point action she's got to go
[00:37] where she is
[00:39] saying that she will not allow the
[00:42] federal government to deport foreigners
[00:44] and illegals who have committed crimes
[00:46] in Arizona in
[00:48] theory they could just say the federal
[00:51] government is not welcome now isn't it
[00:53] interesting how Greg Abbott was not
[00:56] allowed to secure the southern border
[00:58] but all these states are allowed to now
[01:00] defy it we're not going to put up with
[01:01] it this is the first clip Boston mayor
[01:04] Michelle woo says she will not cooperate
[01:06] with deportations and protect the
[01:08] illegals in her City now let's just be
[01:11] clear this is why we need Matt Gates's
[01:13] attorney
[01:13] general if this ends up happening and
[01:16] they are defying immigration customs and
[01:18] enforcement you should arrest Michelle
[01:20] woo arrest her sorry six count
[01:25] indictment for
[01:27] violation of Rights or whatever
[01:31] part of the criminal code put Michelle
[01:33] woo in prison now you have to use this
[01:35] very sparingly and with Precision but if
[01:38] you dare not allow us to deport
[01:40] foreigners and secure our
[01:42] borders well then you're going to have
[01:44] to go to federal prison play cut
[01:47] 27 what will Boston's response be if
[01:49] these Mass deportations take place yeah
[01:52] look elections have consequences and the
[01:54] federal government is responsible for a
[01:56] certain uh set of actions and cities no
[01:59] individual City can reverse or override
[02:02] some parts of that but what we can do is
[02:04] make sure that we are doing our part to
[02:07] protect our residence in every possible
[02:09] way that we are not cooperating with
[02:11] those efforts that actually threaten the
[02:13] safety of everyone by causing widespread
[02:15] fear and and having large scale economic
[02:20] impact now to be clear if you want to
[02:23] protest the federal government Michelle
[02:24] woo you have every right to do that you
[02:26] can March in the streets you can do all
[02:29] sorts of different Free Speech allowed
[02:31] activities that is perfectly permissible
[02:34] however if you sabotage the execution of
[02:37] our laws that's a crime the mayor of
[02:40] Oakland in Trump's first term helped
[02:43] illegals evade
[02:45] ice and Katie Hobbs is saying the same
[02:48] thing in Arizona joining us now is Eli
[02:50] crane uh who is a great Congressman
[02:52] Arizona Eli congratulations on
[02:54] reelection um it was as easy as I would
[02:57] hope and uh we chased a lot of ballots
[02:59] for for you up in Yavapai and parts of
[03:01] Maricopa so Eli congrats what is your
[03:04] reaction to this new narrative that
[03:06] Mayors and governors are going to resist
[03:08] the federal government from executing
[03:10] federal
[03:11] law well hey Charlie thanks for having
[03:13] me on honestly I'm not surprised um to
[03:16] see governors in these blue States you
[03:18] know talking about you know resisting or
[03:21] not uh collaborating with the president
[03:24] on his
[03:25] deportation agenda but you said it
[03:28] yourself um you know they can they don't
[03:31] have to collaborate but they cannot
[03:33] obstruct and that's why I'm so glad that
[03:35] President Trump you know appointed a
[03:37] border security Hammer uh like Tom Homan
[03:41] you know he's been speaking very open
[03:44] honestly about this and he's been you
[03:46] know he's ve been very strong in saying
[03:48] hey you don't have to cooperate with us
[03:51] but do not get in the way because with
[03:53] her without you we are coming in if I
[03:55] have to double the amount of agents that
[03:57] I bring in we will get these people out
[04:00] of your towns out of your cities and we
[04:02] will make sure that we are protecting
[04:04] the American people if you will
[04:07] not yeah so just from a legal standpoint
[04:11] now let's play Katie Hobbs Katie Hobbs
[04:14] is saying that she will not allow
[04:19] Federal enforcement of the laws it's
[04:21] outrageous play Cut
[04:23] 30 as you know Trump has promised that
[04:25] he would carry out Mass deportations on
[04:28] day one of his presidency you're state
[04:29] is estimated to have a quarter of a
[04:32] million undocumented immigrants some
[04:34] Democrats in your state like Phoenix
[04:36] mayor uh Kate gyo say that she wouldn't
[04:39] allow police to be used to carry out
[04:41] this plan would you as Governor allow
[04:44] State Police and National Guard to carry
[04:46] out Mass
[04:50] deportations uh we will not be
[04:53] participating in misguided efforts that
[04:55] harm our communities and I've been
[04:58] incredibly clear about that
[05:01] look she Hedges a little bit here and
[05:03] also ktie Hobbs is a she's not a
[05:05] smart person and also fill in our
[05:07] audience Eli she was MIA this entire
[05:10] election cycle she knows she's unpopular
[05:13] she knows that she doesn't have a
[05:14] constituency Eli cran your
[05:17] reaction well you're right um I mean she
[05:20] says that she won't participate in any
[05:22] misguided efforts at harm her community
[05:25] it just goes to show how toned deaf she
[05:27] is with the Mandate that President Trump
[05:29] just SC and with the reality of the
[05:32] actual harm that's being done to our
[05:34] communities in Arizona because of this
[05:35] wide open Southern border and Charlie
[05:37] you know the list as well as anybody
[05:39] from MS13 gang members you know other
[05:42] Venezuelan gangs coming over that
[05:44] southern border individuals on the
[05:46] terror watch list fent and all I mean it
[05:49] just the list is almost too long to
[05:51] continue to list but it just goes to
[05:54] show that she doesn't know what she's
[05:55] talking about and she said early later
[05:57] in that clip that she's not going to
[05:59] allow it to happen on her watch which
[06:01] also shows Charlie she doesn't
[06:02] understand the law and you know she
[06:05] doesn't have to cooperate they don't
[06:07] have to allow police local police or the
[06:10] National Guard to participate in any of
[06:12] these deportations but she cannot get in
[06:15] the way of federal law enforcement
[06:17] officers like ice that are going to go
[06:19] in there and remove you know illegals
[06:22] from our communities and that's what
[06:24] that's where it comes into you know us
[06:27] in Congress and making sure that ice has
[06:29] the needed if if needed to double the
[06:32] amount of agents that are going to go in
[06:34] there and then you know we might even be
[06:36] having votes up here in Washington DC to
[06:38] defund some of these Sanctuary cities
[06:41] something that I'd be happy to do
[06:43] because you know I know why the people
[06:45] of Arizona sent me here Charlie they
[06:47] sent me here to protect them they sent
[06:49] me here because they do not believe that
[06:50] a lot of the bureaucrats and elected
[06:53] officials in Washington put them in
[06:54] their safety first and that's why I'm so
[06:57] glad that Trump has brought in
[06:58] individuals like Steve Miller Tom homman
[07:01] and others who are laser focused and
[07:03] have been for a very long time on
[07:05] protecting American
[07:07] citizens so let's let's let's dive
[07:09] deeper into this in Arizona by the way
[07:11] president Trump performed the best in
[07:13] Arizona of any swing state so it was the
[07:17] best performing most prot Trump swing
[07:18] state and I believe Eli you have a lot
[07:21] to do with that our ballot chasing
[07:23] operation really ran up the score for
[07:25] president Trump here and so ktie Hobbs
[07:28] is in an UNP popular minority of Arizona
[07:31] and we're coming for her politically of
[07:33] course and in 2026 we're going to remove
[07:35] her and her group of Bandits that are
[07:37] currently controlling our state so the
[07:41] the we need Congress to have the
[07:43] backbone here to also give president
[07:47] Trump the resources that he needs tell
[07:49] us about the legislative priorities that
[07:52] you would like to see President Trump
[07:54] Embrace and that the house can move
[07:57] quickly with urgency to to give Tom
[08:00] homman and chrisy gnome the capacity to
[08:03] be able to find foreigners and support
[08:06] them yeah know thanks Charlie and thank
[08:08] you for all of your efforts in Arizona I
[08:10] think so much of what happened in
[08:12] Arizona was based on the work of
[08:14] yourself Tyler Boyer and others at
[08:16] turning point and turning point action
[08:19] that was amazing to watch what you guys
[08:20] just did with activism and just
[08:23] activating the people of Arizona when it
[08:25] comes to the legislative efforts up here
[08:27] like I said um you know there are a
[08:29] couple right there whether you're
[08:30] talking about defunding Sanctuary cities
[08:33] um or passing hr2 which was the most
[08:36] comprehensive border bill that you know
[08:38] we've ever passed out a congress but
[08:40] this last cycle but the Senate wouldn't
[08:42] take it up and Joe Biden definitely
[08:43] wouldn't have signed it because it was
[08:46] actually you know his plan and their
[08:49] orchestration to actually open up this
[08:51] Southern border wide open and so those
[08:54] are a couple of the things that you know
[08:55] we're going to be looking at but
[08:57] president Trump has a assembled an
[08:59] amazing team um like I said with some of
[09:02] the folks like Steven Miller um Tom
[09:04] homman and others um they haven't given
[09:07] us you know their plans yet on you know
[09:10] exactly what moves they're going to make
[09:11] but I know that a lot of our conference
[09:14] stands ready and willing to get behind
[09:16] their agenda um to do whatever we can to
[09:19] shore up that southern border and start
[09:21] deporting uh Eli what do you make of
[09:24] President Trump's cabinet selections and
[09:27] I know the house does not have advise
[09:28] and consent but what is the message you
[09:31] have for senators Republicans that are
[09:33] in deep red uh Trump states that have
[09:36] not yet voiced support for president
[09:38] Trump's cabinet nominees 30 seconds I
[09:41] love his cabinet nominations I love that
[09:42] he's picking people who have been the
[09:44] victims of a weaponized out of control
[09:47] um federal government that has gone
[09:48] after him like Pete heg said Tulsi
[09:50] gabard Matt Gates I think those are
[09:52] amazing choices my message to you
[09:55] Senators out there that think you're
[09:56] going to get in the way of President
[09:57] Trump the game has changed the landscape
[10:00] has changed the American people gave the
[10:01] president a massive mandate and now we
[10:04] have folks like Elon Musk who have
[10:05] massive platforms and very deep
[10:07] pocketbooks who have said if you get in
[10:10] the way of President Trump's agenda he
[10:12] will be coming and playing in primary so
[10:15] you know game
[10:17] on Eli crane you're a great American let
[10:20] me just repeat that if you happen to be
[10:22] an old bull senator in Idaho South
[10:24] Dakota Kansas Arkansas Oklahoma which
[10:29] only Mark Wayne has been great but
[10:30] lenford we're talking to you or
[10:33] Mississippi yes a primary challenge
[10:36] might be coming to your doorstep so vote
[10:38] accordingly thank you Eli crane
