Conservative Sky News Commentator Jack Houghton Calls Out Disgraceful Media Coverage in the Wake of Charlie Kirk's Assassination

Conservative commentator Jack Houghton responds to what he describes as stunning and disgusting coverage from mainstream media outlets in the hours following Charlie Kirk's assassination at Utah Valley University. He singles out an MSNBC clip in which a contributor appeared to float the idea that Kirk's shooting might have been a supporter accidentally firing a weapon in celebration, calling the assertion willfully false given that the shot came from roughly 200 yards away. He also criticizes MSNBC for describing Kirk as a divisive figure while footage of people fleeing gunshots was still on screen, points to the BBC placing the words 'great guy' in quotation marks, Teen Vogue labeling him far right, and a New York Times intro that characterizes Kirk's entire career before informing readers he had died. He contrasts that coverage with Megyn Kelly's raw, emotional on-air reaction, praising her for covering the news with grace.

A Conservative Commentator Reacts to Charlie Kirk's Assassination

The commentator opens by noting that President Donald Trump described Charlie Kirk's death as the loss of "the great and legendary Charlie Kirk," framing it as a moment every reasonable person should agree is horrific. He says what followed in much of the media left him stunned.

The MSNBC Clip That Shocked the Internet

The commentator plays and criticizes an MSNBC clip in which a contributor appeared to suggest the fatal shot could have been fired accidentally by a supporter celebrating.

"We don't know if this was a supporter shooting their gun off in celebration, or so... we have no idea about this," the MSNBC contributor said on air. The commentator responds that the shot came from approximately 200 yards, or around 180 meters, away. "For so-called journalists to publish an assertion that this was an innocent mistake of a supporter is quite frankly insane. It is willfully false."

Calling Him Divisive While He Was Still Dying

In a second MSNBC clip, played while footage of people running from gunshots was still on screen, a commentator described Kirk as "a divisive figure, polarizing, lightning rod," and attributed his prominence primarily to his alignment with Donald Trump since 2015 and 2016. FBI Director Kash Patel's tweet expressing support for the investigation is read out in the same clip.

The BBC, Teen Vogue, and the New York Times

The commentator extends his criticism to other outlets, noting the BBC placed the words "great guy" in quotation marks, Teen Vogue described Kirk as far right, and the New York Times opened its story by characterizing Kirk's career across approximately 35 words before informing readers he had died.

"Charlie Kirk, a conservative wunderkind who through his radio show, books, political organization and speaking tours did much to shape the hard right movement that has coalesced around President Trump, becoming a close ally of his," the Times wrote, with the news of his death coming afterward. "Disgraceful stuff," the commentator says.

TikTokers Celebrating His Death

The commentator briefly shows a TikTok clip of a creator appearing to celebrate Kirk's death, describing such individuals as "cretins who delight in misery and openly wish death on those who have different political views."

Megyn Kelly's Emotional, Graceful Coverage

In contrast, the commentator praises Megyn Kelly for her live, unscripted reaction to the news.

"There's no way he survived that. The only good thing is it had to have happened quickly," Kelly says in the clip, visibly overcome with emotion. The commentator calls her coverage a credit to independent journalists at a dark moment.
