Dr. Anthony Fauci Pleads the Fifth on Every Question During Congressional Testimony

Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared before Congress and invoked the Fifth Amendment repeatedly, refusing to answer even basic questions about his actions during the COVID-19 pandemic. Senator Josh Hawley demonstrated this stonewalling by asking Fauci simple questions like what day of the week it was and what color tie he was wearing, Fauci pleaded the fifth to all of them. The testimony revealed a man shielded by a presidential pardon dated back to 2014, the same year NIH awarded grants to study bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Despite having immunity through Biden's preemptive pardon, Fauci refused to speak, leaving Americans with an open wound that demands accountability for pandemic policies that destroyed businesses, separated families, and changed lives forever.

Fauci Takes the Fifth on Everything

Dr. Anthony Fauci appeared before Congress and stunned observers by invoking the Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination on virtually every question asked. Despite having received a presidential pardon that granted him immunity from prosecution, Fauci refused to answer even the most basic questions.

Senator Josh Hawley demonstrated the absurdity of Fauci's stonewalling by asking simple questions to which Fauci repeatedly responded: "On the advice of counsel, I respectfully decline to answer based upon my rights under the Fifth Amendment to the Constitution." Hawley asked what day of the week it was, what color tie Fauci was wearing, and what color the carpet was—Fauci pleaded the fifth to all of them, with what observers described as a smirk on his face.

Senator Delivers Scorched Earth Condemnation

One senator, who had left his business career to enter public service specifically because of what he witnessed during the pandemic, delivered a blistering rebuke directly to Fauci's face. The senator explained that six years ago, he decided to give up his businesses, sell them all, and run for the United States Senate. Sitting before Fauci, he asked: "Who the [expletive] do you think you were for doing that?"

He continued: "It is a total disgrace what you did to this country. And if my Democrat colleagues are standing there defending you, I hope the voters of the United States of America watched the clips of every one of you doing a guy who was more interested in being a celebrity than saving American people. I will make it my mission to make certain that every single one of those Democrats who did that will see that clip over and over and over again because there is no defense of what you did. You may have had a 50 plus year legacy of public service, but it ends in total complete disgrace."

Fauci's Lawyer Gets Escorted Out

The hearing took another dramatic turn when Fauci's attorney attempted to speak on his behalf. The chairman of the committee, channeling frustration similar to Senator Rand Paul's approach in previous hearings, refused to recognize the attorney and ordered him removed from the proceedings.

When the attorney persisted in trying to interject, the chairman stated firmly: "You are not recognized. You are not recognized. If you are unruly, you will be removed from the proceeding." The chairman continued: "You were told not to sit at the table. You insist on sitting at the table. And we told you you would not be recognized. You are not invited here for testimony, sir. You are being disruptive. Would you behave this way in a courtroom? No, because the judge would put you in jail. I can't do that today, but I can have you escorted from the premises."

The attorney was eventually removed from the hearing room to applause from those present.

The Suspicious 2014 Date on Biden's Pardon

Perhaps the most revealing aspect of Fauci's appearance was the discovery of when his presidential pardon was dated. Biden's executive grant of clemency to Fauci covers "any offenses against the United States which he may have committed or taken part in during the period from January 1st, 2014 through the date of this pardon arising from or in any manner related to his service as Director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases."

The significance of 2014 cannot be overstated. That was the year the NIH awarded a grant to study bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Biden wasn't even president in 2014, yet the pardon specifically reaches back to that year. This date selection appears to be an admission by those supporting Fauci—people in the pharmaceutical industry and senators who authorized appropriations to fund NIH—that they knew what they were doing back in 2014 when money went to the Wuhan lab for gain-of-function research.

Fauci himself reportedly begged for the pardon and specifically requested it go back to 2014, knowing that investigators would eventually trace the origins of the pandemic policies back to decisions made that year.

Trump Respects the Power of Presidential Pardons

When asked whether the Department of Justice should reopen investigations into Fauci, specifically regarding questions about whether Biden's signature was authentic or applied via autopen, President Trump responded pragmatically: "Well, the only thing you can really think about is the autopen because the most powerful thing the president has they say is the power of pardon. So, he was pardoned by Biden and I respect that. I know how powerful it is. It's a very powerful—they say it's literally the most powerful thing a president has."

This response suggests Trump recognizes there may be no legal route to challenge the pardon, despite questions about its legitimacy.

Democrats Face a Choice on Moral Authority

Democrats now face a critical decision that will determine their moral authority going forward. They have two choices: either call out the problems with how Fauci was protected, or forfeit any right to complain when future presidents issue broad pardons to family members and associates.

The argument is simple—if Democrats defend Fauci's pardon despite documented evidence of problematic decisions regarding gain-of-function research, pandemic response policies, and more, then they have zero moral authority to object when President Trump or any future president pardons their own family members and associates for documented activities.

As one observer noted, the likelihood of a future progressive president going after Trump and his family is "101%," so Democrats who remain silent about Fauci's pardon are setting a precedent they may come to regret.

The Human Cost of Fauci's Policies

Beyond the legal and political implications, the testimony served as a reminder of the devastating human cost of pandemic policies. Businesses were destroyed. Families were separated. People died alone, unable to see loved ones because of restrictions.

One person in the room had a grandfather who was dying and calling his family, crying and begging them to come see him, but they couldn't because of policies Fauci championed. Churches were closed while liquor stores remained open. People were fired from their jobs for refusing experimental vaccines.

Research funded by Fauci's National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases included disturbing experiments at the University of Pittsburgh where researchers grafted scalp tissue from aborted babies onto mice and rats, causing human skin to remain alive and even grow fine human hair. This gives insight into the character of the man who directed pandemic policy.

The Lies That Changed Everything

Fauci knowingly lied about numerous aspects of COVID-19 response:

  • The origins of the virus
  • Mask effectiveness
  • Social distancing requirements
  • Vaccine efficacy
  • Transmission rates
  • Natural immunity
  • The potential benefits of ivermectin and hydroxychloroquine

Even when evidence showed these treatments could help, Fauci and his allies suppressed the information. People like Chris Cuomo, who now suffers from long COVID, could have potentially been helped by treatments Fauci dismissed and ridiculed. CNN went so far as to alter images of Joe Rogan to make him look sickly and green when he discussed alternative treatments.

Chris Cuomo Called Unvaccinated Americans Terrorists

In one particularly inflammatory moment during the pandemic, Chris Cuomo stated on CNN: "Think about this. In a world of threats and tyrants and terror, you know what our biggest enemy is in America? Our fellow Americans. The pandemic is dispositive proof of that."

This kind of rhetoric led fathers to vaccinate their children with experimental drugs out of fear of being labeled terrorists or enemies of America. How many children now suffer from myocarditis because of this pressure? Unlike Stephen A. Smith, who apologized for calling Kyrie Irving selfish for not taking the vaccine, Cuomo has offered no apology for his inflammatory statements.

This Is an Open Wound

The Fauci hearing represents an open wound for America that needs to be dealt with emotionally, politically, and legally. Millions of Americans are exhausted by the lack of accountability. The fact that Fauci kept invoking the Fifth Amendment, with what appeared to be barely contained tears at times, suggests he knows exactly what he did.

For a megalomaniac who believed himself above reproach, sitting there being berated by people he considers beneath him was clearly torture. The fact that he couldn't speak without incriminating himself, despite having immunity, reveals there is something significant to hide.

While federal prosecution may be off the table due to the presidential pardon, state-level investigations remain possible. The question is whether Americans will demand the accountability that this open wound requires, or whether Fauci will remain untouchable, knowing nothing will ever happen to him despite the destruction his policies caused.
