Eric Trump Reveals Behind-the-Scenes Story of Trump 2028 Hat That Broke the Media
Eric Trump shares intimate details from the 2024 election night and reveals how a simple hat trolled the mainstream media into chaos. Speaking at Auburn University on the anniversary of his father's historic comeback victory, Eric discusses the family's journey through persecution, the divine timing of Trump's four-year absence, and how President Trump completely flipped the script on media opposition. He also shares the untold story of the viral Trump 2028 hat that sent journalists into meltdown mode, proving how easily the media can be manipulated. The evening featured a surprise call from President Trump himself, addressing thousands of enthusiastic supporters.
November 5th marked a momentous occasion - exactly one year since what Eric Trump called "the greatest comeback in the history of American politics." Speaking to thousands of enthusiastic supporters at Auburn University, Eric Trump reflected on the journey that led to his father becoming both the 45th and 47th President of the United States.
The event took an unexpected turn when Eric decided to call his father live on stage. "Should we try calling him?" he asked the roaring crowd. When President Trump answered - his contact saved as "Dad" with the presidential seal emoji - he addressed the Auburn audience directly, expressing his love for Alabama, a state he won by 45 points, and paying tribute to the late Charlie Kirk.
The Importance of the Four-Year Gap
Eric Trump was candid about the 2020 election and its aftermath. "Nobody fought harder to win an election than those of us in our family," he stated. "And no one was more upset when things turned out a different way than we all wanted than those of us in our family."
He questioned the narrative around the 2020 results: "81 million people were not so inspired by a guy who campaigned out of his basement that he got more votes than anyone in the history of America ever had. I don't know why you would ever need ballots in a suitcase, but okay."
However, Eric emphasized that leaving the White House on January 21st, 2021, though "very sad" and "a very dark time," was ultimately part of a larger plan. "What we didn't realize then that I think everyone in here can agree with is that things don't always happen on our time. They happen in God's time," he explained. "The incredible things that this president, our 45th and our 47th president of the United States, Donald Trump, has been able to do this term in office would not have been possible with two back-to-back consecutive terms."
According to Eric, those four years served a crucial purpose: "We needed the four years. He needed the four years. America needed the four years because we saw what you get with the other side and America said absolutely not. Hell no. America first. Bring Donald Trump back."
President Trump's Message to Auburn
During the surprise phone call, President Trump told the Auburn crowd: "I hope Eric is doing a good job and Laura is doing a good job and Auburn's a special place. I've been there many times. I know many people from that area and from that school. It's a great school and we love Alabama."
The President paid tribute to Charlie Kirk and addressed his widow Erika: "I just want to pay my respects to Charlie and Erica. These are two incredible people. And Eric, I've spoken to her often. She's just a spectacular person. And she's going to start where Charlie left off. And we should never allow this to happen. One of the greatest people we've ever known and was so responsible for our win."
He continued: "We love Charlie. He's looking down on us right now, all of us. And Erica, you just take care of yourself. We're with you all the way."
Addressing the state of the nation, President Trump declared: "Our country is doing great. We've never been in a position like this. The investments being made, all of the money coming in, and a lot of it's responsible that our great Charlie, I tell you what, he was the first in line, always the first in line to help."
Surviving an Unprecedented Campaign of Persecution
Eric Trump didn't hold back when describing what he characterized as systematic attempts to silence his family and the broader conservative movement. "They thought they could kill our friend and they thought they could delete all of us," he stated, referring to threats against Charlie Kirk and his father.
"They tried to kill my father. They tried to kill my father twice. They tried to bankrupt us. They tried to take out our company. I became the most subpoenaed person in American history for doing nothing wrong. They tried to throw him off the ballots. They tried to strip our First Amendment rights. They stripped us from Twitter and Facebook and Instagram."
He explained the motivation behind these actions: "Why did they do that? They wanted to remove our voice. They wanted to remove his voice. They wanted to remove Charlie's voice. They sure as hell wanted to remove her voice. They wanted to remove my father's voice. And they wanted to turn down all of your voices."
But Eric saw victory in the resistance: "And we wouldn't allow them to do it. They tried to do it on every campus around the country. They tried to do it by silencing you where if you wrote a paper that a teacher disagreed with they would fail you. And you know what guys, it's backfired in such a monumental fashion and it's just cemented the vote of the youth of this country for the next 50 years. And they're getting exactly what they deserve."
The Final Rally in Grand Rapids
Reflecting on the 2024 election cycle, Eric shared an intimate behind-the-scenes moment from November 4th, the night before the election. The Trump campaign had traveled to several rallies across the country, ending in Grand Rapids, Michigan - the same location where they concluded in both 2016 and 2020.
"We had been going all day," Eric recalled. "And I knew that last one, right? We were talking about it backstage. We said he's not going to want this to end because this is going to be his last rally. And sure enough, it was like 2:00 in the morning, 2:30 in the morning. And we're all backstage basically asleep. This man has been on stage for hours at every rally all day long and he is still going."
The moment became even more special when President Trump decided to bring his family on stage. "And he all of a sudden goes, 'What do you think? Should I bring my kids out? Should I bring my kids out?' And we were all like, 'Oh, we better get up. We better get it together.' And he called us out on stage and it was actually so amazing and such a moment that I'll never forget standing there on stage with him thinking about that being the last rally he would ever have."
The Trump 2028 Hat: How to Troll the Media
Perhaps the most entertaining revelation of the evening was Eric Trump's detailed account of how the viral Trump 2028 hat came to be - a story that perfectly illustrated the media's susceptibility to manipulation.
Eric credited Sue Kim, a long-time team member, with the idea. "She's been with me for a very long time. She's getting very fresh one day. She comes up to me and she goes, 'Hey, we've got to do something. We've got to mess with the media today.' So, we can do, you know, the MAGA hats, like print on demand. So, she changes a four to an eight."
The execution was simple: "And she brings into my office and she throws me a hat. She's like, 'Put it on. I'm just going to take a picture of you.' So, I put on this picture. This guy about two seconds later, you know, retweets the me wearing the Trump 2028 hat with no texts or anything. Elon two seconds after that retweets this. This thing goes viral."
The media response exceeded all expectations. "I mean, you've got hundreds and hundreds of millions of likes and views and everything else on this hat. The media went freaking nuts, guys. It was so fun."
Eric described journalists questioning whether this represented an attempt to "subvert democracy" and violate Constitutional term limits. "I'm literally grabbing my phone and I am taking pictures as fast as I can of these emails coming in and I'm just putting them up on my Instagram feed. Over and over and over. I'm putting these laughing emojis on there."
After watching the media meltdown for 12 hours, the team decided to escalate. Sue Kim suggested adding a slogan: "Trump 2028, rewrite the rules." The media took the bait again.
Eric's assessment of the whole operation was pointed: "I'm like, it's easier to troll the media in this country than it is to manipulate my six-year-old son on Halloween with a bucket full of candy. It is so funny."
Flipping the Script on Mainstream Media
Lara Trump joined the conversation, highlighting a crucial difference between Trump's first and second terms. "How Donald Trump has flipped the script on the mainstream media is a thing of beauty ladies and gentlemen. Think about the first term - the first term it was like he was on his heels the whole time. The whole White House was constantly having to field incoming. They were on defense all the time. They were getting it from the media, from the Democrats, from the Republicans in some respects as well."
She contrasted that with the current approach: "This time around, he just swats them off like gnats. They don't even know what to do with themselves. He's like, 'Who are you? ABC fake news. Sit down. Next.' It's so great."
Laura emphasized the results of this new strategy: "This White House is 100% on offense, killing it every single day. And guess what? The American people are winning. It is so great to watch."
