Nick Shirley Reflects on Charlie Kirk's Legacy and the Impact of His Tragic Death

[00:02] opportunity to go on Newsmax and uh on

[00:04] the news and do an interview regarding

[00:06] the death of Charlie Kirk. This death

[00:08] has impacted me just like it's impacted

[00:10] all of you guys watching this video. Um

[00:12] he meant a lot to conservatives and to

[00:14] the conservative movement and honestly

[00:16] just for Christians worldwide as he

[00:17] stood up for Christian values. Um, this

[00:20] death is, it's hit me super hard just

[00:22] knowing that somebody in the same realm

[00:24] politically and somebody that does

[00:26] similar content to me has died just

[00:29] doing what they love and having civil

[00:31] discourse with people in public. And uh,

[00:34] Charlie actually messaged me the night

[00:35] before he died after I had been on Laura

[00:37] Ingram and done an interview and then

[00:40] uh, invited me on a show to come on

[00:44] today actually would have been Thursday.

[00:47] Um, and to know that he's no longer

[00:50] here, it's just super sad and it makes

[00:53] me sad. And uh, I did have this

[00:54] opportunity to do this interview um, on

[00:57] the news. And so I just want to give him

[00:58] a spot here on my channel to say how

[01:00] impactful he was, not just to me, but to

[01:03] millions of people in the world. And I

[01:05] hope you guys enjoy this interview. And

[01:06] I want to give Charlie a personal spot

[01:08] here on my channel for the rest of my

[01:11] channel's history. Um, rest in peace to

[01:14] a good man. and I know he will be

[01:16] missed, but he will not be forgotten.

[01:29] Charlie's influence on the youth, right?

[01:32] And I know you're one of them and also

[01:35] uh knew Charlie personally. Can you tell

[01:36] us what you're thinking about today?

[01:38] Yeah, I woke up this morning. It didn't

[01:40] feel real. I remember we all know we all

[01:42] got the news yesterday and everyone's

[01:44] heart sank. Um whether you knew him or

[01:46] not, you just couldn't believe that it

[01:47] was real and and I just feel so sad

[01:50] about what happened and the fact that

[01:52] this is what we are living through today

[01:54] because of just having conversations and

[01:57] it has led people to this point and due

[01:59] to these crazy far-left ideas that

[02:02] people are now killing people.

[02:04] They tried with Trump and they succeeded

[02:08] with Charlie. It makes me super sad and

[02:10] it quite frankly scares me as well.

[02:12] Yeah, Nick, I wanted to talk to you

[02:13] about that too in terms of um the

[02:17] assassination of of Charlie Kirk and the

[02:20] sadness that that leaves behind and you

[02:22] can only assume maybe the motive would

[02:24] be to silence that voice. He was the

[02:26] leader of of of the the younger

[02:28] generation. A, as you well know, there

[02:30] are many in in politics that might write

[02:32] the younger generation, the younger

[02:34] voter off. Charlie Kirk did not do that.

[02:36] And Charlie Kirk went after that that

[02:38] demographic and he did so with such

[02:40] success and he did so with his with his

[02:42] faith and he led with his faith. Did

[02:46] that resonate with you?

[02:47] I think it resonated with lots of people

[02:49] just to know that there's also people

[02:51] that have the courage to stand up and to

[02:53] bring and talk about Christ openly and

[02:56] not deny the truths of uh the Bible and

[02:59] the truth of what we believe as

[03:01] Christians. And it gave so many more

[03:03] people the confidence to really stand up

[03:05] for what they believe in. And uh Charlie

[03:09] uh me and him also I'm in that sphere of

[03:11] where I make content like this and I I

[03:13] tell people what I believe and share the

[03:15] world share the truth of the world with

[03:16] people and and to know that there's

[03:19] other people alongside me that would

[03:21] also support uh was also strengthened.

[03:24] It's also it's uh it's not it's super

[03:27] sad he's died and and the only thing I

[03:30] can think that that is uh encouraging at

[03:32] the moment is knowing that he's on the

[03:33] other side and he will be that patriot

[03:35] and that cheerleader for now millions of

[03:38] people.

[03:38] Yes. Yes. Um you think about all those

[03:40] kids who showed up at his campus events,

[03:42] right? Because they wanted to hear him

[03:44] speak and they wanted to listen to to

[03:46] these conservative points that maybe

[03:48] they felt deep down in their heart but

[03:49] they would have been hesitant to share

[03:51] out loud. and he dismantled arguments in

[03:53] such a creative well way. He was so

[03:56] educated. He he was intelligent and he

[03:59] was calm when answering questions. A lot

[04:01] of people came at him so combatively and

[04:03] he kept his cool throughout it. Um I

[04:05] also understand Nick that he was pretty

[04:07] influential behind the scenes, even

[04:09] sharing messages to rising voices in the

[04:11] conservative movement. Maybe you

[04:13] yourself received messages. What was

[04:15] that like to have? Yeah, just the other

[04:16] day he messaged me the night before he

[04:19] was assassinated because I had just been

[04:21] on Fox News. I had just an interview and

[04:22] I was going to be on his show today and

[04:24] I was on his show yesterday just a few

[04:26] just literally an hour before he was

[04:28] assassinated.

[04:29] Um, and to know that he was also

[04:32] watching encouraging other people and it

[04:33] wasn't just me. It's whenever I'm sure

[04:35] if you saw a clip of anybody standing

[04:37] for the truth, he was encouraged as

[04:38] well.

[04:39] You met him a year ago, is that right?

[04:42] Yeah, met him a year ago just outside of

[04:44] the DNC. talked to him for a brief

[04:46] moment. Um, that was just one of the

[04:49] conversations I had had with him and one

[04:51] of the few times I met him and it's just

[04:54] so real. It's just so sad. And

[04:57] you also mentioned too um Nick at the

[04:59] start at the start of this um segment

[05:01] that that you're scared. You're you're

[05:03] an independent journalist and you're in

[05:04] that same realm of Charlie Kirk of of

[05:07] Turning Point Action Group and and and

[05:09] sharing um you know those thoughts and

[05:12] those views. Um, does that silence you

[05:16] seeing what happened to Charlie Kirk?

[05:18] No, not at all. It just makes me want to

[05:20] actually go even harder. Um, I've been

[05:23] attacked at so many events and these

[05:24] videos you're seeing on the screen right

[05:25] now are from Utah.

[05:27] They're from Utah. The craziest streets

[05:28] I've ever been on is Utah. Yeah, that's

[05:30] where I'm I'm from. And I No, this will

[05:33] not silence anybody. If anything, it's

[05:34] going to make people even want to go

[05:36] harder. Um, and you do see violence.

[05:39] I've been attacked at these protest.

[05:40] these same protesters have sent messages

[05:42] to my house. Um they they've done

[05:46] gross things and uh it does scare you a

[05:49] little bit. And now I'm going to have to

[05:50] like up security when I go out in public

[05:52] and film especially especially when I do

[05:54] live streams. It's just super sad um

[05:57] that this is just the reality like you

[05:59] can't even like I I can't even feel safe

[06:01] now going out on the street doing a live

[06:03] stream talking with people and having

[06:04] open discourse. Um he was having open

[06:06] discourse with people and he was killed.

[06:08] Yeah. Well, just know that that your

[06:10] work is is very much so supported and um

[06:14] world view is is very much so shared by

[06:17] millions of conservatives out there. Um

[06:25] to give up hope.
