[00:02] little bit about, um, where we are as a

[00:05] country in discussing,

[00:07] uh, this word evil because it seems like

[00:10] it gets tossed around everywhere. And

[00:12] the people that are, you know, profiled

[00:13] in your book, um, people like Hitler and

[00:17] Stalin, comparisons to Hitler in

[00:20] particular get tossed around all the

[00:22] time. Donald Trump is is called Hitler

[00:24] all the time. And I think most people

[00:26] have enough sense to say that's a

[00:28] ridiculous parallel. But is there a

[00:30] residual problem with doing that? In

[00:33] other words, you're not just creating a

[00:36] falsehood. Are there consequences to

[00:38] that? And are we kind of cheapening evil

[00:40] in our country when we're tossing around

[00:42] comparisons like that to to regular

[00:44] politicians?

[00:46] >> Well, number one, the progressive left

[00:48] that champions that kind of rhetoric has

[00:51] damaged its own credibility, I think

[00:53] almost beyond repair. And the Charlie

[00:56] Kirk assassination put them over the

[00:58] cliff.

[00:59] the Stephen Kings of the world, the

[01:01] other people, Lawrence Tribe up in

[01:03] Boston, all of these people who try to

[01:06] excuse this heinous assassination.

[01:09] Uh, that really damaged the progressive

[01:11] movement. And that in the end is going

[01:13] to be Charlie Kirk's main legacy. Um,

[01:17] but as far as lighting a fuse of

[01:20] violence, that's a tough one because a

[01:24] lot of different people do that.

[01:28] And uh under the first amendment, it's a

[01:31] line. There's a line directly

[01:34] threatening somebody in the Secret

[01:35] Service will come to your door. You

[01:37] know, when I uh was summoned to see the

[01:40] president last Thursday at Yankee

[01:41] Stadium, the two topics were Charlie

[01:44] Kirk and Putin.

[01:47] And uh you know I was uh sitting next to

[01:50] him and I could tell that he was very

[01:53] emotional about the Kirk situation

[01:57] because it happened to him. Exactly the

[01:59] same thing and it was like, you know, a

[02:03] curtain that went up again in this

[02:07] horror. Um and he genuinely, you know,

[02:10] the guy's got a widow and two little

[02:12] kids. Donald Trump doesn't show emotion,

[02:15] but he is an emotional man. That's what

[02:18] a lot of people don't understand about

[02:19] him. And you know, I basically we walk

[02:22] through, all right, how you going to

[02:24] deal with this short-term, long-term?

[02:27] And I don't say what I say to a

[02:29] president. I mean, that's private.

[02:31] >> Sure.

[02:31] >> But he was very shaken by it.

[02:36] And um

[02:38] the situation is that you can't make a

[02:43] correlation. It's not fair to say, well,

[02:46] that person's overheated rhetoric on the

[02:48] view is going to cause some nut to go

[02:52] out and hurt somebody. Very hard to do

[02:55] that. What you can do is condemn a

[02:57] pattern of behavior. And the radical

[03:00] progressive left uses

[03:04] invective

[03:06] Hitler, fascist,

[03:08] uh, racist, homophobe, uses those things

[03:13] as a policy

[03:15] to marginalize its opposition. That's

[03:18] flatout wrong, and every American should

[03:20] condemn it. That's evil.
