[00:00] A concept of two things can be true at
[00:02] once. We want this audience to be as
[00:04] educated as possible. We want you to
[00:06] have sophisticated thoughts, nuanced
[00:08] thoughts. Life is not black and white.
[00:11] And the two things at once idea I want
[00:14] everyone to keep in their mind is this
[00:17] image 587. This is reporting from the
[00:20] economist. Hat tip to Kane from Citizen
[00:22] Free Press for flagging this for me. The
[00:25] Iran war has been a stunning aerial
[00:29] success.
[00:30] This is the economist. This is, you
[00:32] know, this is not state media. This is
[00:34] the economist and this is without doubt
[00:37] true. But the subhead is also true. Even
[00:41] if at the political level its direction
[00:44] is a mess. Now
[00:47] listen, I was an early critic, as was
[00:51] Blake, that this war had not been sold
[00:53] to the American public sufficiently. I
[00:55] believe that to be the case.
[00:57] I will also give them credit. In the
[01:00] days that have ensued since the initial
[01:03] strikes, they've done a better job of
[01:05] explaining the why and the why now.
[01:09] But so two things can be true at once.
[01:12] Our military is second to none. When
[01:14] President Trump lods the military, when
[01:17] Secretary of War Pete Hegsath explains
[01:20] just how lethal and precise and
[01:22] incredible they are, all those things
[01:24] are true. Our military men and women are
[01:26] the best in the world. And our aerial
[01:30] assault has proven to be the best in the
[01:32] world. And look at what we did in
[01:34] Venezuela. Absolutely true. But some of
[01:36] you have been upset with us in our take
[01:39] because we haven't been sufficiently
[01:42] I guess enthusiastic.
[01:44] But I want to bring your attention and
[01:46] Blake actually before I get there why
[01:48] don't you explain why don't you say what
[01:49] you were going to say?
[01:49] >> Well I'm just I think what we are seeing
[01:52] is there's kind of two wars. There's the
[01:54] literal air war over Iran and there's
[01:56] the airwaves war. There's the war over
[01:58] public opinion. Every war goes that way.
[02:00] And it's a little different from
[02:02] conflicts you've had in the past where
[02:05] if you know if you want to use an
[02:06] obvious example, World War II. World War
[02:08] II starts with 100% popular support for
[02:11] the war because the Japanese bombed us
[02:13] at Pearl Harbor. Everyone is on board
[02:15] and it would only go down from there if
[02:17] there, you know, were a lot of setbacks
[02:19] and went on.
[02:19] >> Saw this after 911.
[02:20] >> You saw this after 911. Afghanistan 95%
[02:23] support for that war. Goes down from
[02:25] there. Iraq probably 65 70% support for
[02:28] that war when it began goes down from
[02:30] there. This is different where we seem
[02:33] to be starting with at best 50/50 maybe
[02:37] less support and the plan is that they
[02:39] can sell it through how successful it
[02:41] is.
[02:42] >> And by the way I do want to say this
[02:44] could end up proving and I said this
[02:46] yesterday to be the absolutely right
[02:49] geopolitical national security
[02:51] >> 100%. They have information we don't.
[02:53] >> Yes. And you would be a fool not to see
[02:56] the potential upside of controlling the
[02:58] straight of Hormuz of getting rid of a
[03:01] malignant actor in a ter the number one
[03:03] state sponsor of terrorism in the Middle
[03:05] East. There's thousand upsides to this.
[03:07] >> Trump can say you're never going to be
[03:08] hearing about Iran like you've been
[03:10] hearing from them for the past 45 years
[03:12] ever again.
[03:12] >> Yes,
[03:13] >> that's a good thing. But we have an
[03:15] obligation to make this point because
[03:17] some people are saying people are saying
[03:20] actually the base is super united behind
[03:22] this like they're fine on that. And we
[03:24] had students on the show yesterday and
[03:27] we just we wanted to ask them. We said
[03:29] be honest with us. What is the attitude
[03:31] like on campus about what has just
[03:35] happened? And they answered us
[03:37] >> and we told them not not to be
[03:39] completely honest with us. And they
[03:41] were. And there's two clips here that I
[03:43] want to make sure we highlight. And
[03:44] Blake, you can call the first one if you
[03:45] want.
[03:46] >> Yeah. And this was, I believe this was
[03:47] asking a chapter leader at Appalachian
[03:49] State. So, this is not an Ivy League
[03:51] school. This is not Berkeley. This is a
[03:53] school in, you know, rural North
[03:55] Carolina. Charlie loved this country and
[03:57] he loved partnering with organizations
[03:59] that truly stand for what makes America
[04:01] great. One of our most trusted partners,
[04:03] AAC, the Association of Mature American
[04:05] Citizens, is doing something special in
[04:07] Charlie's honor. AAC is offering free
[04:09] memberships to all ages. No credit card,
[04:11] no strings attached, just a chance to
[04:14] stand for faith, family, and freedom.
[04:15] Join this movement. Go to amac.
[04:18] us/charlie
[04:19] today. That is amac.
[04:22] us/charlie
[04:24] today.
[04:29] Yep. A lot of Trump voters. 592.
[04:32] So, I want to start off by asking you
[04:34] guys to give us the vibe on campus of
[04:37] this this uh the strikes against Iran.
[04:39] What's the vibe? What are people saying?
[04:42] Let's go ahead and start with
[04:43] >> Be honest with us. Be honest. Bad. Tell
[04:44] us. We want to know.
[04:46] >> We want the unvarnished truth. Brooke,
[04:48] you first.
[04:49] >> Yeah. I think at my campus especially,
[04:52] um, people are very upset with the
[04:55] United States and and their involvement.
[04:58] I think that a lot of direction is
[05:01] pointed at Israel and um questioning our
[05:04] allies and and the motives um in that
[05:07] way.
[05:08] and Megan.
[05:10] >> Uh, yeah, I definitely agree that's the
[05:14] same vibe that we're having on campus.
[05:17] Um, and I think more people uh don't
[05:20] want to see another war.
[05:24] >> All right. So, that was we we thought
[05:26] maybe that was just a broad segment, but
[05:29] then we asked a follow-up question. 593
[05:32] copy. So, are you seeing protests? Are
[05:34] you seeing are people gathering in the
[05:36] in the square in the quad? What kind of
[05:39] activities are you seeing this manifest
[05:41] in?
[05:43] >> I'm mostly seeing things uh through
[05:45] online platforms, people on um Instagram
[05:49] or or Twitter just, you know, really
[05:52] going in at um President Trump and and
[05:55] being upset that, you know, gas prices
[05:58] might go up and um forever war. like
[06:01] people really really do not want boots
[06:02] on the ground in this uh circumstance.
[06:04] >> Are you seeing that even from people
[06:06] that you know voted for Trump in 2024 or
[06:09] is it more is it still mostly from
[06:12] people you know would be leftwing
[06:13] regardless or
[06:15] >> I think the idea of starting a new
[06:17] foreign war is really even for Trump
[06:20] voters really um deterring people from
[06:23] wanting to align with the administration
[06:25] and their actions.
[06:29] That should be a flashing red light to
[06:31] everybody that supports President Trump,
[06:33] which we completely support President
[06:35] Trump. I mean, candidly, where I'm at,
[06:38] Democrats are completely unacceptable in
[06:40] any way, shape, or form.
[06:42] >> The entire reason this matters is you do
[06:44] not want to alienate the voters who are
[06:47] who did vote this last year or two years
[06:49] ago to
[06:51] >> get the illegals out, to secure the
[06:52] border, to put America first. And all of
[06:55] those things matter more than ever. The
[06:57] left has gone more insane than ever on
[06:59] issue after issue.
[07:00] >> And mark my words, they are going to try
[07:03] and impeach this president if they get
[07:05] the house. They will impeach him.
[07:08] >> And that's where we're going for in the
[07:10] second half of this hour. And you can be
[07:12] upset with me for telling you the truth,
[07:15] but
[07:16] I know this to be a fact. Put it that
[07:19] way. That they are going to use
[07:21] different, let's call them controversies
[07:23] within this administration. and they are
[07:26] telegraphing their moves here. They they
[07:30] understand that going after Trump was
[07:32] politically a disaster for them and
[07:34] that's probably one of the reasons why
[07:36] we have President Trump in the first
[07:37] place. They're going to go for some of
[07:39] the lieutenants.
[07:41] And if they can keep the popularity of
[07:43] this war down, if even our own
[07:46] conservative students are alienated,
[07:49] then they're got a they've got a great
[07:51] chance of taking back the House. And we
[07:53] need to fight that. I'm not a doomer. I
[07:55] don't think this is set in stone. You
[07:57] talk about this now so that it doesn't
[07:59] become a reality later. And we are
[08:02] completely supportive of our military.
[08:04] When the mission was when they pressed
[08:07] go, when the green light was hit, we're
[08:09] all in for success and we're praying for
[08:11] success. But we have to be honest about
[08:13] the political ramifications as well. And
[08:16] we have an obligation to tell you about
[08:18] that.
