Youth Engagement: How Charlie Kirk Mobilized Young Conservatives
Showing 9 Youth Engagement videos from Charlie Kirk's video collection.
Youth engagement was central to Charlie Kirk's public work through Turning Point USA, which grew from a small campus organization to, by 2020, roughly 1,000 chapters and 400 staff across the country. Kirk described his strategy as taking economics and civics arguments directly onto campuses, including one rally where he read aloud from a local high school textbook he said misrepresented the effects of the Reagan tax cuts, using it to argue that Turning Point USA's role was correcting what he considered ideological content in public education. A California political science teacher described how a personal request from a student to start a Turning Point USA chapter years earlier shifted her own view of Kirk and the broader conservative youth movement. Candace Owens, speaking alongside Kirk, outlined plans to expand youth outreach into the Black community through a dedicated Young Black Leadership Summit, arguing that Turning Point USA needed to actively court communities it had historically underserved rather than assume a one-size approach. President Trump, in remarks after Kirk's assassination, said he had never seen anyone connect with young Americans the way Kirk did, describing the devastation among young supporters following his death. Scott Jennings separately credited Kirk with making political engagement feel appealing to a generation more used to seeing entertainment events draw large crowds than political ones.
