Alex Newman Exposes Deep State Attack on Turning Point USA Following Charlie Kirk's Assassination

Alex Newman examines the targeted assault on Turning Point USA in the aftermath of Charlie Kirk's tragic death. Kirk built a movement that awakened millions of young Americans to threats posed by globalism, the administrative state, and institutional indoctrination. Newman argues that Kirk's effectiveness in deprogramming youth from government school propaganda made him a prime target. At the first major AmericaFest gathering since Kirk's passing, deep divisions erupted, divisions Newman attributes to infiltration tactics designed to fracture the conservative coalition. From Nick Fuentes promoting authoritarian ideology to mainstream media amplifying infighting, the deep state playbook appears in full effect. Newman draws on his personal work with Kirk and Turning Point USA to reveal why this movement remains under siege.

The Movement That Threatened the Establishment

In recent years, a movement emerged that posed a genuine threat to the deep state and establishment power. At its center stood Charlie Kirk, the young and charismatic leader who built Turning Point USA into a massive institution dedicated to awakening young Americans. Kirk understood the nature of the threats facing the nation: the deep state, globalism, constitutional erosion, and the systematic indoctrination of youth through government schools.

Alex Newman, senior editor at The New American Magazine, worked closely with Kirk and spoke at several Turning Point USA events, including keynote addresses. Following Kirk's assassination, Newman authored a special tribute in The New American examining both Kirk's legacy and the nature of the battle he fought. What made Kirk particularly dangerous to the establishment was his ability to deprogram millions of young people who had been indoctrinated by institutions misleadingly referred to as public education.

Kirk's influence extended across all demographics and political spectrums. In the days following his death, actress Jenny McCarthy revealed that Kirk's assassination led her to fully surrender her life to Jesus Christ—a testament to the spiritual impact of his work. The movement Kirk built, or more accurately that God built through Kirk, represented a major threat to the deep state agenda and remains so today.

Kirk's Understanding of the Deep State

Kirk possessed a clear understanding of the administrative state and intelligence apparatus operating above constitutional authority. In discussions about the deep state, he articulated two distinct categories of bureaucratic resistance. The first consisted of departments like Education and Labor—agencies that primarily leak and delay but lack the capability for serious offensive operations.

The second category represented a far more dangerous threat: intelligence agencies including the CIA and FBI. These entities, Kirk explained, don't simply obstruct—they actively configure their operations against the sovereign, employing dirty dossiers, domestic spying, special agents, and foreign intelligence partnerships through arrangements like Five Eyes to circumvent legal restrictions on surveilling Americans.

Kirk warned that without focused energy on dismantling this administrative state, the nation would have elections in name only. He understood that a super government operates above Congress, consisting of the Department of Defense, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation—entities that truly run the country while elected representatives serve as little more than a peanut gallery.

The Central Intelligence Agency, Kirk noted, actively engages in domestic mind manipulation in direct violation of its charter. This super government operates with neither accountability nor connection to the wants, needs, and concerns of everyday Americans. In fact, Kirk argued, this oligarchy holds the American people in contempt.

The Demonic Nature of the Threat

Kirk recognized that the threat facing America was demonic at its core. In an appearance on Newman's program approximately ten months before his martyrdom, Kirk stated plainly that the threat is demonic in nature, with woke ideology taking the form of an unclean spirit. This spiritual discernment set Kirk apart from many conservative commentators who focus exclusively on political or economic dimensions of cultural conflict.

Kirk also identified the red-green axis—the alliance between Marxists who have infiltrated government and Islamists entering Western nations. Despite their many disagreements, these forces unite around a shared hatred of the West and a common goal of breaking it. Kirk saw this pattern playing out particularly clearly in Britain, where the combination of these ideologies posed an existential threat to Western civilization.

Understanding the spiritual dimension of the battle informed Kirk's approach to building Turning Point USA. The organization developed multiple divisions including Turning Point Faith, led by Lucas Miles as senior director, to address the supplanting of a dominant Christian worldview with pagan ideology designed to prepare Americans for Marxist ideology. Miles explained that Marxism and Christianity are fundamentally antithetical, and while progressive Christianity attempted to merge these incompatible worldviews, Marxism ultimately requires a different vehicle—which it has found in various forms of paganism including witchcraft, occultism, and other practices.

The Government School Indoctrination System

One of Kirk's primary focuses was exposing the indoctrination of children through government schools. He understood that this represented one of the main weapons in the arsenal of demonic forces working against freedom and traditional values. Kirk's analysis went deep into the historical roots of the modern education system, identifying it as Prussian at its core—designed to create an obedient, subservient population rather than free-thinking citizens.

Kirk argued that the fundamental premise of modern education is wrong. Children are not something to be engineered or configured according to state specifications. Rather, they should be allowed to grow into what they ought to be, with direction and guidance that helps them love learning above all else. The classical form of education, rooted in what is good, true, and beautiful—focused on the eternal rather than the temporal—represented the model Kirk advocated.

The solution, according to Kirk, required a renaissance and revival of homeschooling in America. He took the radical position that government has no role in education whatsoever, recognizing that government involvement in education served as one of the primary means of destroying and debasing the nuclear family. This stance put Kirk directly at odds with the establishment's most cherished indoctrination mechanism.

Turning Point USA responded to this crisis by creating a dedicated education division. Hutz Hertzberg, speaking on Newman's program, explained that Kirk recognized woke indoctrination happens long before students reach college—it occurs in high school, junior high, and even grade school. This insight led Kirk to make the intentional decision to address the issue earlier in the educational pipeline rather than waiting to undo years of ideological programming at the college level.

Deep State Targeting of Kirk and Turning Point USA

The effectiveness of Kirk's work made him a target of the deep state's propaganda apparatus. The Southern Poverty Law Center—what Newman calls the Soviet Poverty Law Center—took specific aim at Kirk, Turning Point USA, and associated figures including Newman himself. In 2024, the SPLC highlighted Turning Point's summit for educators featuring Newman, author of "Indoctrinating Our Children to Death: Government Schools' War on Faith, Family, and Freedom, and How to Stop It."

The SPLC even resorted to outright fabrication, claiming that at the educator summit, Newman declared public education went awry when the Supreme Court banned the Bible. In reality, Newman has consistently argued that the education system went wrong when government got involved in the first place, not when the Supreme Court delivered final blows decades later. This dishonesty reveals both the desperation and the methods of the deep state's propaganda organs.

The SPLC doesn't target individuals who pose no threat to the establishment except as window dressing to maintain credibility. Kirk's appearance on their radar confirmed his effectiveness in challenging the deep state's control over American youth. The organization's publication on Kirk, titled "The Christian Response to the Great Reset," featured a Bible verse on the cover: "Evildoers do not understand what is right, but those who seek the Lord understand it fully." This small piece of literature represented the kind of material that terrified establishment forces.

AmericaFest and the Fracturing of the Coalition

The first major Turning Point USA event following Kirk's death was AmericaFest, which drew an unprecedented 31,000 attendees to Phoenix, Arizona. The event had never before sold out or approached such numbers, indicating the movement's continued strength and growth even in Kirk's absence. However, what should have been a unifying memorial and strategic planning session descended into public division.

Rather than focusing on honoring Kirk's legacy, discussing midterm elections, or strategizing to save the constitutional republic, attendees found themselves embroiled in bitter disputes over Israel, America First ideology, and the influence of figures like Nick Fuentes. The division proved so severe that major podcasters and bloggers on opposite sides of these issues engaged in heated debates in hallways, quickly drawing crowds of 50 to 100 people recording the confrontations.

The media seized on these divisions with predictable enthusiasm. Headlines from across the political spectrum told a similar story:

  • Fox News: "Rift in MAGA movement on full display at TPUSA's America Fest as Ben Shapiro, Tucker Carlson battle it out"
  • Politico: "MAGA infighting erupts at Turning Point USA conference"
  • NBC: "MAGA infighting over Israel and 2028 heats up at the Turning Point USA conference"
  • Economic Times: "MAGA civil war erupts into the open at Turning Point Meeting"
  • The Guardian: "Gripes and infighting on display as MAGA stars gather at Turning Point Conference"
  • Daily Beast: "MAGA honors Charlie Kirk by fighting like dogs at his big bash"

While the divisions were real and not fabricated by media, the amplification and framing suggested coordination designed to undermine the movement at a vulnerable moment. Newman argues this represents the deep state in action, having mastered over generations the art of infiltrating movements, creating divisions, establishing circular firing squads, and installing false leaders.

Ben Shapiro's Call for Purges

Conservative commentator Ben Shapiro used his AmericaFest platform to call for purging various figures from the conservative movement, including Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens, and Stephen Bannon, labeling them frauds and grifters. Shapiro specifically attacked Owens for questioning the official narrative surrounding Kirk's death and for implicating various entities from French intelligence to Mossad to members of Turning Point USA itself in Kirk's murder or a cover-up.

Shapiro argued that people with microphones have a moral obligation to call out such speculation, particularly attacks implicating Erika Kirk and Turning Point USA staff members who worked closely with Charlie Kirk. He accused those refusing to condemn Owens's "truly vicious attacks" of cowardice, noting that some people speaking at the conference remained silent while Owens "vomited all sorts of hideous and conspiratorial nonsense into the public square for years."

This call for purges represents exactly the kind of gatekeeping that has historically weakened conservative movements. Newman draws a parallel to William F. Buckley, who served as an establishment gatekeeper attempting to keep genuine anti-globalist forces like the John Birch Society out of the conservative movement. While Shapiro's concerns about baseless speculation during a time of mourning have merit, the broader call to exclude major figures represents a dangerous path toward factional warfare rather than principled coalition-building.

The Nick Fuentes Problem

Central to the divisions at AmericaFest was the influence of Nick Fuentes and his followers, known as Groypers—a term derived from a version of Pepe the Frog in online meme culture. Multiple websites identified "Groyper" as the political word of the year for 2025, indicating the growing influence of this faction. Fuentes was platformed by Tucker Carlson in an interview where he appeared relatively mainstream, despite holding extreme views on Jews and other topics.

However, deeper examination reveals Fuentes advocates for positions fundamentally incompatible with constitutional conservatism. In his own words, Fuentes stated: "No, it's not the Jews. No, it's not women. No, it's not blacks. It's actually really complicated. No, it isn't at all. Jews are running society. Women need to shut up. Blacks need to be imprisoned for the most part and we would live in paradise. It's that simple."

Beyond the obvious racism and misogyny, Fuentes explicitly advocates for dictatorship and authoritarian rule. Discussing Joe Biden's pardon of Hunter Biden, Fuentes stated: "I support it. Let the record show I support that because on some level I do believe the president should be above the law... I think they basically should be above the law. The pardon is the constitutional power of the president. There's nothing unlawful about using it... I think it's actually a good thing because maybe it paves the way for a future dictator because then they could always point back to this moment and say, 'Hey, Joe Biden pardoned his son, so now we're going to round up all the illegal immigrants and send them over the border and adjourn Congress and dismiss the courts.' So, I think it's a good sign. As an authoritarian, I feel emboldened by the decision."

Fuentes has organized his followers into a quasi-military structure with generals, colonels, and lieutenant colonels. These Groypers attended AmericaFest in force, infiltrating Q&A sessions and "prove me wrong" events, raising divisive topics designed to create conflict. Andrew Mueller, reporting for The New American from AmericaFest, personally encountered Alec Beaton, one of the top Groypers dressed in a white suit with a Nick Fuentes pin, who confirmed the organized Groyper presence via Telegram group chats.

The Real Danger of the Fuentes Faction

Mueller argues that focusing on Fuentes's racism and misogyny, while justified, misses the deeper threat. These flashy positions serve primarily to attract attention and go viral, catching low-IQ followers. The real agenda involves ushering in an authoritarian dictator to "right the wrongs" Fuentes identifies in American society—legitimate issues like the Daniel Penny case and the mistreatment of white men through DEI and CRT policies.

Rather than advocating for a return to constitutional governance and the founders' vision, Fuentes calls for installing a king or dictator—potentially himself—to obtain absolute power and transform America into an authoritarian, heavily racist regime through top-down federal power. Fuentes never encourages grassroots involvement, constitutional literacy, or bottom-up change of the kind advocated by organizations like the John Birch Society since 1958.

Human history demonstrates conclusively that kings, dictators, and tyrants never produce the outcomes their supporters hope for. Fuentes's vision would prove no exception. Yet his ability to diagnose real problems facing young men in America gives him credibility with a segment of disillusioned youth who lack the historical knowledge or philosophical grounding to recognize the dangers of his proposed solutions.

Not long before AmericaFest, Fuentes spoke about how Turning Point USA was "Charlie Kirk's baby" and how he had done something terrible to it—"impregnated it" with his minions and ideas. To Newman, this sounds precisely like a deep state subversion operation, whether Fuentes consciously serves the deep state and Satan or functions as an unwitting tool.

JD Vance's Call for Unity

Vice President JD Vance offered a different vision at AmericaFest, one focused on coalition-building rather than purges or authoritarian solutions. Vance argued that President Trump built the greatest coalition in politics precisely by refusing to run supporters through endless self-defeating purity tests. "Make America great again" serves as an invitation to every American regardless of race, economic status, age, location, or level of controversy.

"People of every faith come to our banner because they know that the America First movement will make their lives better," Vance explained. "And they also know that the Democrats don't care about anything other than maybe transing their kids. So if you love America, if you want all of us to be richer, stronger, safer, and prouder, you have a home on this team."

Vance's remarks positioned him as the likely GOP nominee for 2028, with Turning Point USA forces and much of the MAGA movement lining up behind him. His approach offers a middle path between Shapiro's call for purges and Fuentes's authoritarian vision—though it leaves unresolved the question of how to address genuinely destructive influences without becoming gatekeepers who exclude legitimate voices.

The Deep State Playbook in Action

Newman argues that the divisions at AmericaFest represent the deep state playbook in action. Over many generations, intelligence services and establishment forces have perfected techniques for infiltrating movements, creating divisions, establishing circular firing squads, and installing false leaders. When they couldn't control Charlie Kirk, they eliminated him. Now they seek to destroy the movement he built by fostering internal conflict at precisely the moment when the organization faces its greatest vulnerability.

The coordinated media coverage amplifying every division, the sudden prominence of figures advocating positions antithetical to constitutional conservatism, the attacks on key leaders from multiple directions—all suggest an orchestrated campaign rather than organic conflict. Young people attracted to Fuentes's message may have legitimate grievances, but they're being led not just astray but into something dangerous that would destroy rather than restore American freedoms.

The Turning Point USA divisions under Turning Point Faith and Turning Point Education continue the work Kirk began, understanding that the battle operates on multiple fronts simultaneously. The greatest threat to the nation remains the intentional supplanting of a dominant Christian worldview with pagan ideology designed to prepare Americans for Marxist tyranny. This indoctrination begins in early childhood through government schools and continues through higher education, media, and cultural institutions.

Moving Forward

Newman encourages those concerned about these developments to investigate both The New American magazine and the John Birch Society, organizations that have advocated for constitutional governance, grassroots action, and resistance to globalism for decades. The discussions happening within the conservative movement are important, but they must not degenerate into the kind of factional warfare that destroys effective opposition to the deep state agenda.

Charlie Kirk understood this clearly. He built bridges across demographic and ideological lines while maintaining clear principles rooted in the Constitution, Christian faith, and individual liberty. He diagnosed the threats facing America—the deep state, globalism, educational indoctrination, and spiritual warfare—with unusual clarity for someone in such a prominent position. His assassination removed a uniquely effective leader at a critical moment, but the movement he built continues.

The question now is whether that movement can resist the deep state's efforts to fracture it through infiltration, false leaders, and manufactured divisions. The answer will determine not just the fate of Turning Point USA but the broader prospects for restoring constitutional governance and defeating the globalist agenda that threatens American sovereignty and freedom. For those watching the Groypers and others caught up in authoritarian visions, the message is clear: legitimate grievances exist, but the solution must be found in America's founding principles, not in the dictatorship that has failed throughout human history.
