Anna Paulina Luna Reveals Why GOP Senate Refuses to Pass Save America Act
Representative Anna Paulina Luna exposes the resistance within the Republican Senate to include the Save America Act in the National Defense Authorization Act. Despite controlling the House, Senate, and White House during America's 250th birthday celebration, a handful of Republican senators, led by John Thune, are blocking voter ID legislation that Americans overwhelmingly support. Luna explains why she's taking a hardline position, refusing to vote for rules that don't include voter integrity measures, and why she doesn't care about political consequences. She also discusses the DOJ's investigation into the Neville Roy Singham network and foreign influence operations that previous administrations ignored.
Fighting for Voter Integrity During America's 250th Birthday
Representative Anna Paulina Luna sat down to discuss the critical fight happening in Congress over voter integrity legislation. As America celebrates its 250th birthday, Republicans control the House, Senate, and White House—yet a small group of GOP senators are blocking the Save America Act from becoming law.
Luna explained that she and other Freedom Caucus members, including Representatives Tim Burchett and Max Miller, are refusing to vote for the National Defense Authorization Act unless it includes the text of the Save America Act. When House leadership, including Steve Scalise, told her the provision wasn't "germane" to the defense bill, Luna fired back: "As a veteran, if you are telling me that voter ID and proof of citizenship and everything else in America is not important to national defense and security, maybe you haven't been paying attention."
The Senate's Failure to Lead
Luna didn't mince words about Senate leadership. She pointed to Senator John Thune and four Republican senators who have the ability to enforce the talking filibuster but refuse to do so. "You cannot continue the cycle of insanity and then complain about it," she said. Senator Mike Lee is reportedly beside himself over the inaction.
The representative revealed that Senate Republicans were more concerned with automatic wins for their personal lawsuits and "dog parades" than debating the Save America Act. They went on recess while attacking Senators Mike Lee and Rick Scott behind closed doors for actually fighting for voter integrity.
When asked why Republicans won't pass voter ID legislation that Americans across all demographics support, Luna explained that some House members worry the Senate would have to take a "tough vote" on the NDAA. Her response: "I don't care. Let's send it over. Let's help our frontline members that depend on this."
DOJ Investigation into Foreign Influence Networks
Luna also discussed a major development regarding the Neville Roy Singham network and foreign influence operations. She revealed that the Department of Justice has launched a massive criminal investigation into Singham, who receives significant funding from China. This network has been operating for years, but previous administrations showed no interest in investigating it.
Luna recounted how FBI agents visited her several months ago to gather information about these networks. What shocked her was how little federal investigators knew at the time—a clear indication that the Obama and Biden administrations had no interest in pursuing these cases. "It was crazy to me how little they knew because these are advanced networks," she said.
Now, under new leadership, the DOJ is not just investigating—they're taking punitive action. Luna emphasized: "They're not just investigating to investigate. They are going after these people." She's working with Representative Derek Van Orden on legislation to force influencers taking money from foreign governments to register and face consequences.
Senator Marco Rubio, when he was on Senate Intelligence, had written letters following the Singham network. Senator Rick Scott recently sent a letter calling for the removal of 501c3 status from organizations like Code Pink. Senator Jim Banks has also been following these networks closely.
The Power of Not Caring About Political Consequences
Luna shared advice she received from Representative Jim Jordan when she first arrived in Congress. He told her two things: always travel with her spouse to avoid rumors, and if she simply kept her campaign promises, the job would be remarkably easy.
"I promised to do this to every single one of my voters," Luna said. "When people go to the press and trash me, I'm not going to bring up their stock trades that look remarkably similar to insider trading. I'll let the American people do that. But what I will focus on is my parliamentary tools in my toolkit."
Luna explained that one of the most freeing aspects of her position is genuinely not caring about personal political consequences. "I don't care if I'm here for 10 years or not. I can do what's right and necessary," she stated. This mindset gives her remarkable power because colleagues don't know how to intimidate someone who truly doesn't fear losing their position.
Assassination Culture and Rising Extremism
The conversation touched on the dangerous political climate, particularly after the attempt on Charlie Kirk's life. Luna noted that the political environment has "definitely changed, especially after Charlie." She doesn't wear her congressional pin outside the Capitol grounds because it makes her a target.
What concerns her most is the "sentiment of assassination culture where people are actually pushing it and embracing it." She pointed to recent Democratic Socialists of America candidates elected in New York who have engaged in anti-white rhetoric and anti-Semitic language, including one comment referencing "ghasts" in relation to predominantly Jewish Americans.
"These people say, 'Oh, well, communism or socialism just hasn't been done correctly.' We know that's—I mean, how many times do we have to go through this? It's the same thing. It just doesn't work," Luna said.
The GOP Base is Done Playing Games
Luna was asked whether the GOP is learning lessons from what happened with Senator John Cornyn and the GOP voter backlash. Her answer was direct: "The Senate made a very terrible mistake in trying to back candidates that they knew would fail because they live up here. They've gotten too complacent in their circle, and that's why the founding fathers never wanted politics to be a full-time job."
She predicted that some senators won't be able to show their faces at the president's convention. "It's not about shaming people. It's about calling them out for promising and failing to deliver," she explained.
Luna's message to House leadership is clear: "You want my vote? Put the text of the Save America Act in the National Defense Authorization Act. Stop giving me excuses. Stop pulling parliamentary procedure. Stop lying to the American people and saying that we're obstructing. We are fighting."
Standing Firm on Principle
Representative Luna emphasized that this fight isn't just hers—it's supported by multiple Freedom Caucus members who are taking the same hardline position. They're willing to block rules and procedural votes until leadership delivers on the promises Republicans made to the American people.
She pointed out the hypocrisy of Democrats like Chuck Schumer who want to give citizenship to millions of illegal immigrants while simultaneously claiming elections might be stolen. "If you really think the election is going to be stolen, don't you want voter ID?" Luna asked. "Even aside from party politics, black, white, Hispanic, Democrat, Republican, independent, men, women, we all want voter ID. Period."
As for President Trump's position, Luna carefully stated she wouldn't speak for him, but made clear: "I have been one of President Trump's very few from the beginning protectors and defenders and I was with him in New York City and I will continue to have his back."
The representative's final message was one of accountability: if the Senate strips voter integrity provisions from legislation, let them offer the amendment and take that vote publicly. Let Senate leadership explain their actions to the American people. But the House should not preemptively surrender or run cover for Senate Republicans who refuse to fight for what they promised.
