Bret Weinstein Calls for Investigation into Israel Over Charlie Kirk's Death

Bret Weinstein suggests investigating Israel's potential involvement in Charlie Kirk's death, citing Kirk's vocal opposition to war with Iran and the timing of events. Weinstein points to Kirk's public stance against Middle East conflicts, his reported conflicts with pro-Israel donors, and Benjamin Netanyahu's unusually quick denial of responsibility. The discussion raises questions about whether Kirk's influence as an opponent to war made him a target, and whether a thorough investigation will ever take place given current US-Israel relations.

Bret Weinstein's Bold Statement

Bret Weinstein recently made a striking statement on Tucker Carlson's show, suggesting that Israel should be investigated in connection with Charlie Kirk's death. Weinstein carefully framed his position, acknowledging that while he cannot say for certain what happened, the circumstances warrant a serious investigation. His comments come in the context of Kirk's very public opposition to war with Iran, a position that put him at odds with powerful pro-Israel interests.

Charlie Kirk's Clear Stance on Iran

Charlie Kirk's position on potential conflict with Iran was unambiguous. In a tweet from April 3rd, 2025, Kirk warned that "war drums are beating again in DC" and called a new Middle East war "a catastrophic mistake." He outlined several reasons for his opposition: depleted military stockpiles from backing Ukraine, the early stages of reshoring manufacturing, worsening deficit and national debt, and Iran's massive size compared to previous conflict zones like Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan combined.

Kirk wrote: "Thanks to President Trump restraint during his first term, America has a golden opportunity to pull away from Middle East quagmires for good. We shouldn't throw that opportunity away so that sown DC husbands can feel tough by sending young Americans to die again."

Lindsey Graham's Contrasting Position

In stark contrast to Kirk's views, Senator Lindsey Graham has been vocal in his support for aggressive action in Iran. Kirk himself commented on Graham's position just months before his death, calling Graham's approach "pathologically insane" after Graham declared: "Time to close the chapter on the Iranian Ayatollah and his henchmen. Let's close that chapter soon and start a new chapter in the Middle East, one of tolerance, hope, and peace."

Graham has continued pushing for expanded military involvement in Iran, openly discussing sending American troops and celebrating military strikes.

The Context of Potential Motive

Several factors contribute to the discussion of potential motive for investigating Israel's involvement:

  • Pro-Israel donors reportedly withdrew support from Kirk and pressured him over his positions
  • Kirk allegedly told a friend before his death that he feared Israel might have him killed
  • Reports of a phone call where Kirk turned down $150 million from Netanyahu, refusing to advance Zionist agendas
  • Kirk's influence as a major voice opposing war with Iran, which Israel strongly supported

Netanyahu's Unusual Denial

Weinstein pointed out that Benjamin Netanyahu very quickly denied responsibility for Kirk's death, which struck him as unnatural. Speaking with Tucker Carlson, Weinstein said: "I did feel that that denial by Netanyahu was effectively a Rorschach test and maybe designed to be one, that I was supposed to feel alarmed by this and a normal person was supposed to think that is batshit crazy. He said they didn't do it. Obviously, they didn't do it."

The Case for Investigation

Weinstein carefully laid out his reasoning: "I'm not telling you that I see the evidence that somebody did it. But what I am telling you is we've just found ourselves in a war that Charlie would have been opposed to. We know that from his public and private statements and that he would have been a formidable force in opposition. So at least we should have an investigation that tells us for sure that we know who committed the crime and that there wasn't something larger about it."

He added that he felt "something was watching and it felt the clock ticking and its opportunity to finally bring about this war which I think Netanyahu said he's been dreaming of for 40 years." The perception that a window was closing created urgency, and Kirk's vocal opposition made him an obstacle to those war plans.

The Question of Whether Investigation Will Happen

Tucker Carlson supported Weinstein's call for investigation, stating: "I don't know why that's unforgivable. I mean, this is an American citizen, someone you knew, and you're not accusing anyone of anything. And I do think leaving aside Charlie's murder and the question of who did it, for a foreign leader to weigh in immediately and hog all the attention and make it all about himself and start issuing all these statements about how Charlie lived and died for Israel is totally unforgivable."

However, the practical reality of such an investigation remains questionable. Given the US government's willingness to bomb countries at Israel's behest, the likelihood of investigating Israel for the death of one American citizen, regardless of how beloved, appears slim. The statement raises important questions about sovereignty, foreign influence, and the extent to which powerful interests can operate without accountability.

Weinstein's Measured Approach

Weinstein's comments were notably humble and measured, not sensationalized but spoken honestly. He acknowledged that his statements might be considered "unforgivable" by some, but maintained that the questions deserve answers. His position is not an accusation but a call for the thorough investigation that any American citizen's suspicious death should receive, especially when that citizen was a prominent voice on matters of war and peace.
