Candace Owens Reveals How She and Charlie Kirk Were Assigned Handlers After Kanye West's Infamous 2018 Tweet

Candace Owens exposes what she describes as a coordinated effort to control and separate her partnership with Charlie Kirk following Kanye West's April 2018 tweet declaring his support for her. Owens details the vivid dreams, energy shifts, and strange synchronicities leading up to that paradigm-shifting moment, then reveals how figures from David Horowitz to Eric Weinstein to Rick Rubin inserted themselves into their circle. She recounts the manufactured Hitler controversy, her recruitment by PragerU, and a meeting at the Simon Wiesenthal Center conducted partially in Hebrew that she couldn't understand. What Owens initially perceived as help and friendship, she now believes was a strategic operation to assign handlers and pull her away from Charlie Kirk.

The Build-Up to the Kanye West Tweet

Candace Owens believes she has had handlers since 2018. When she created her initial tribute video to Charlie Kirk, some people took theological issue when she said that the day Kanye West tweeted "I love the way Candace Owens thinks," she and Charlie freaked out because they were convinced they had somehow manifested that moment. She acknowledges this was 2018, before she was Catholic, and says it's important to discuss why they thought they manifested that tweet because it is relevant to what took place thereafter.

As Owens showed previously, Charlie was having vivid dreams throughout his entire life that he was going to die in a tragic, quick way. But especially in April 2018, he was having vivid dreams that something big was about to happen. This was in the weeks leading up to the tweet. Charlie knew and Candace felt that they were on the brink of something big.

At the time, Charlie was around 23 or 24 years old. They were doing the Fox News circuit, appearing on every show, but Owens was focused on Black Lives Matter. She felt they were lying to black Americans and it would harm them. Neither was very well known at this time. They had just gotten together the November before.

It's a fact, Owens says, that they were listening to Kanye West music every day—literally every day, especially the song "Power." Owens was telling Charlie explicitly that they had to get to Kanye West. She could tell by his music that this person did not want to be part of the system. If they could get to Kanye, she thought he would join her Blexit movement. She wanted to wake up black Americans to what she saw as a scam using their race to control their emotions. She knew that Kanye West was not part of the simulation, so to speak, and that the song "Power," as Kanye said, is a battle cry to be yourself.

Owens has an old text from Charlie dated April 13th, 2018. She wrote: "Yo, Kanye West writing a philosophy book called Break the Simulation. We need him, Charlie. He is Blexit AF." Charlie wrote back: "I love Kanye. He's my soul brother. I will find a way to him. I promise. We have to." Looking at that now, Owens says it's crazy to realize he was about to tweet her.

The Energy Shift and Mike Cernovich's Tweets

There was an incredible build-up, and they felt this palpable energy, a shifting that they kept discussing in their messages. They were saying something was happening in April. Then on April 16th, Mike Cernovich, who had not spoken to Owens or Charlie about how they were feeling, did a series of tweets about how he was speaking to friends who could feel some sort of energy shift happening. They were shocked—what was happening? How could Cernovich randomly be tweeting this?

Owens sent those tweets to Charlie. Cernovich has since deleted them, but she says you can ask him. He wrote: "A change in energy which stuns high consciousness people does not mean bad. It simply means that it's cosmic. A paradigm is shifting. Something is happening and that people get angry at me shows the shift. Why care? The energy manifests itself in different ways." He continued: "Several high consciousness people I've spoken to independently told me about feeling a shift in energy. Something is going on. It happened 2 to 3 weeks ago. I'm not talking politics or elections. It's much bigger. Energy shift."

Owens sent the tweets to Charlie and said "Charlie, what the F?" She admits she had a bad potty mouth in 2018 and doesn't swear nearly as much anymore. Charlie responded: "Yep, we felt it, too. Remember I told you the dreams got darker."

The Night Before Kanye's Tweet

On the eve before Kanye West tweeted them—still in April, April 20th, the evening before—Charlie messaged Owens saying he was on a run blasting Kanye West and that they were on the brink of something big and this was their time. The message read: "I'm listening to Kanye and just running my streets. Are you ready for the war that's coming? We're going to fight. We're going to win. They will lose." Owens replied: "So exciting. It's our time." He said: "Yes."

The next morning, Owens woke up to news of the tweet and said "Please pick up" because she was shaking. Charlie wrote back: "I am freaking the F out." When she says you had to be there, they were certain they had manifested it. It was freaky. They were freaking out asking how this was real, how they knew, what was happening in the world.

Kanye sent the now infamous tweet: "I love the way Candace Owens thinks." Everything for Charlie and Candace changed in the blink of an eye in that moment. Retrospectively, it would never be the same again. It was indeed a paradigm shift.

Scott Adams' Analysis of the Tweet

Owens mentions that she and Charlie both watched Scott Adams. She didn't know who he was at the time—she was very green and not an overtly political person. But she remembers vividly watching him draw on a board and explain to his many followers that something much bigger had taken place and that people needed to pay attention to this tweet for almost cosmic reasons.

Scott Adams said: "What did he tweet? He tweeted, 'I like the way Candace Owens thinks.' Seven words. And he ripped a hole in reality with seven words. Because Kanye is supposed to be over here. And Candace is supposed to be over here. And they're not ever supposed to say the other one said something, right? That's not supposed to happen. But Kanye did it anyway."

Adams continued: "Whatever you want to say about Kanye, his politics, and I don't even know what his preferred politics would be... but he did something that you could rarely see. He actually just altered reality. He just made the entire conservative Twittersphere just go something like this. It's like your head just went 'Huh?' What did I just see? Did I really see this?"

Adams concluded: "The story is that these two people that shouldn't be in the same conversation in seven words, Kanye just changed that. And he just freed a lot of people from a mental prison. Kanye, in seven words, unlocked a mental prison. And he's bringing you to the golden age."

Owens looks back on that clip and finds it fascinating.

The Handlers Enter the Picture

From that moment onward, Owens believes she and Charlie were assigned handlers. This is an expression Kanye used to say—"have a handler." She thought he was just saying that, referring to Hollywood. She now very much believes that she has had handlers since 2018, and that things were done intentionally to pull her and Charlie apart.

Owens tweeted back at Kanye saying "Please take a meeting with us." Before she could hear directly from Kanye's people, she heard from David Horowitz of the Freedom Center. He was the one who first invited her when she was going viral on YouTube to speak at his conference. Owens notes that he is the father (or stepfather) to Andreessen Horowitz, the one that Benjamin Netanyahu is insisting should be part of the group that buys TikTok because they think it's important for warfare—psychological warfare in the future.

Horowitz was very nice in his message, saying his son knows Kanye and he would like to facilitate that meeting. Suddenly, they got Eric Weinstein involved, and he reached out, pretending he wanted to be a friend to Owens. She says he's a bad person and learned that very quickly. But at the time, Charlie and she were pro-Israel, which she thinks is relevant, and they were just so amazed by the tweet that they thought all these people really did just want to help.

Another player was Rick Rubin—the big music industry Rick Rubin—who also got into the mix and wanted to facilitate certain meetings. Owens took it again as a sign of help.

Changes at Turning Point USA

On the Turning Point USA side, Tyler Bowyer—who Owens says she could do a whole episode on, as he's more relevant than she can fit into just one episode—was the only person with Charlie before. He introduced Charlie to every person Charlie knows. Boyer started hiring a bunch of people, telling Charlie they needed to hire bigger and more professional money raisers, PR people like Andrew Kolvet, and so on.

It felt like at every moment there were forces trying to say "This is not allowed to happen." Kanye's handlers were telling him he wasn't allowed to be involved in politics, and he was getting angrier and angrier about that. This was in the time of Kim Kardashian and Kanye. She wanted nothing to do with it. Owens has been to their house. Political friends were telling Charlie and her not to get involved with Kanye because he's crazy, that they were on a trajectory and shouldn't speak to Kanye because it would backfire. Owens responded: "No, we dreamed this. We want him to be a part of Blexit. This is exactly what we wanted."

The Spiritual Pull to the UK

At the exact same time, Owens felt—and the story has been told many times by both Charlie and her—that out of nowhere, she got this spiritual pull that she needed to go to the UK. Charlie and she had no business in the UK at all. There was no reason to go to the UK, nothing happening there. She has the messages where she's saying "Charlie, we should go to the UK. I don't know why. I just have the vibe we need to go to the UK. We need to go to London." And they did go, in the future.

Kanye's Pressure and Distancing

First, dealing with the pressure cooker that kept happening between Kanye, Owens, and Charlie: In October, after Kanye had helped her start designing the logo for Blexit, Kanye's pressure cooker got too hot. Basically, they told him he would lose everything—his marriage, everything—if he didn't abstain from politics after he notoriously went to the White House in the MAGA hat. He needed to distance from them and from Blexit, and he cracked.

The headline read: "Kanye West distances himself from Blexit and Trump. He says, 'I've been used to spread messages.'" Kanye never wrote this statement, Owens says—one of his handlers did. But he said: "My eyes are now wide open and I now realize that I've been used to spread messages that I don't believe in. I am distancing myself from politics and completely focusing on being creative."

That was not the most honest interpretation of things, Owens reflects. She's grateful she called Mike Cernovich and asked why Kanye was doing this, why he was saying this when she had pictures of him standing over the guy directing him on what he thought was cool with the logo. Should she drop them? Cernovich gave her sound advice and said "Don't. You have no idea what he's going through." She's grateful to Cernovich for that because she now knows what Kanye was going through and what that pressure is like when they come for your family and everything, and all you have to do is disavow this or that and everything will go back to normal. She totally understands why Kanye had to say that.

Meeting Her Husband

Owens thinks she was saved by this weird pull she had to go to the UK. It was, she now realizes, an unexpected anomaly. Her husband, how she met him, this unplanned trip on nobody's calendar that nobody was setting up. She just told Charlie to get a meeting with whoever, make anything happen, because she needed to be in the UK. She thought something good would happen if they went.

The person Charlie reached out to was John and Iryna Mappin—the lone donors who wrote that beautiful letter that has impacted the world, true friends of Charlie who stood up and said what Turning Point USA is doing is wrong. They had an event, and Owens first laid eyes on her husband. She has told people the truth: when asked why she got engaged after 18 days, she says it's inexplicable. She looked at him and felt like she had already known him. It felt exactly like seeing a sigh of relief. She needed to go with him.

The Hitler Controversy

Two months later—after that December event in London where she met her husband and convinced Charlie to let her take his credit card and book the flights while John and Iryna made the event happen—something really strange happened in February. Someone, she believes at BuzzFeed, cut a clip of a video from the Q&A portion of that UK event. This is over two months later. They stripped the question that was asked of her.

This was the scandal. Someone asked her: "Candace, you describe yourself as a nationalist. That is sometimes a dirty term because people don't like the word nationalism." She answered by saying that's because they wrongly attributed it to Adolf Hitler and he wasn't a nationalist. She didn't even mention Jews at all.

She said: "I actually don't have any problems at all with the word nationalism. I think that the definition gets poisoned by leaders that actually want globalism. Globalism is what I don't want. So when you think about whenever we say nationalism, the first thing people think about in at least in America is Hitler. You know, he was a national socialist, but if Hitler just wanted to make Germany great and have things run well, okay, fine. Problem is that he had dreams outside of Germany. He wanted to globalize. He wanted everybody to be German, everybody to be speaking German, everybody to look a different way. That's not nationalism to me. I don't really have an issue with nationalism. I really don't. I think that it's okay. It's important to retain your country's identity."

Owens knows these online campaigns are inorganic and that what happened was a hit. They pulled the clip and then a bunch of articles said she supported Adolf Hitler and that she said if Hitler had just wanted to make Germany great again, then okay, fine. No context again. It was a severe cancel culture attack saying she supported Jews being killed in the Holocaust. It was insane.

Charlie and she were very new and this was very scary. They were coming upon a high point and wondering why people wanted to destroy them. At the same time, the Simon Wiesenthal Center issued a statement against her comments. It was heavy. It was so heavy. She laughs in retrospect because she thought it was all real. She didn't realize this was a matrix of people who wanted to pull her and Charlie apart. They wanted to put pressure on him so donors would pressure him and say "She's supporting Hitler. It's such a bad look." Then they would find her broken and scared and upset, saying she didn't know how Jewish people could think she would support Hitler.

PragerU and the Simon Wiesenthal Meeting

Despite this, the hand that came out to Owens and offered her a job was PragerU. PragerU offered her a job in early 2019, saying they knew she didn't believe these things. At the time she thought they were just being friends. She doesn't know what to think anymore.

Marissa Streit, the CEO, has never shied from telling people that she worked intelligence in the IDF in Israel. Owens took the job with them. Charlie and she still climbed together, but they were also working apart at the same time. They kept doing the campuses and campus tours, but she was officially working for PragerU.

One of the first things that happened—it feels to Owens like "we can save you, but here's what you have to do"—was Marissa took her to the Simon Wiesenthal Center. Again, Owens was so grateful. She was asking who she had to say sorry to so they would know she didn't hate Jews. There was some chief rabbi-looking character, and he and Marissa spoke in Hebrew. Owens didn't understand a word of what was said in front of her. Then they left and everything was fine. Her reputation was restored temporarily.

The Military Operation

Throughout the timeframe thereafter, Owens did her show. Her first episode with PragerU was in March. Charlie was still climbing. Turning Point USA became a behemoth. Owens remembers speaking at their conferences and saying they were now running like a military operation. It was so efficient, on time, tactical. She did not realize at that time how prescient that thought would become.
