Charlie Kirk Exposes ACLU's Anthony Romero Pushing Cities to Sever Federal Ties Over Immigration Enforcement

Charlie Kirk breaks down a troubling interview between MSNBC's Rachel Maddow and ACLU head Anthony Romero, where Romero openly advocates for cities and states to sever relationships with the federal government to block immigration enforcement. Kirk argues this amounts to Confederacy 2.0, calling it the greatest schism since the Civil War. He proposes cutting federal funds to sanctuary cities that refuse cooperation, while senior Trump advisor Corey Lewandowski joins to discuss the incoming administration's plans for mass deportation, border security, and restoring law enforcement morale. Kirk and Lewandowski emphasize that the Trump team is prepared for immediate action on day one, with a cabinet ready to fight back against resistance from cities protecting criminal illegal immigrants.

ACLU's Plan to Disconnect Cities from Federal Immigration Enforcement

Charlie Kirk plays a clip of Anthony Romero, head of the ACLU, appearing on MSNBC with Rachel Maddow to discuss what he calls a "firewall for freedom." Kirk characterizes this as something far more extreme than typical ACLU legal tactics. According to Kirk, Romero is advocating for cities and local governments to completely sever their relationships with the federal government when it comes to immigration enforcement.

Romero outlines a plan where mayors, governors, and city councils would deny federal immigration authorities access to police officers and jails. He discusses preparing executive orders and organizing pressure campaigns to prevent elected officials from cooperating with federal deportation efforts. Romero even suggests that local governments should pardon immigrants with criminal records for offenses like driving with a suspended license to remove them from federal enforcement reach.

Kirk calls this the greatest schism since the American Civil War, dubbing it "Confederacy 2.0" and comparing Romero to Jefferson Davis. He argues that if cities want to sever relationships with the federal government, they should face complete cutoffs of federal funding including SNAP, food stamps, EBT, Medicaid, Medicare, and school funding.

The Nullification Crisis Parallel

Kirk draws a historical parallel to the Nullification Crisis of the 1800s, when South Carolina attempted to ignore federal law. He emphasizes that states and cities cannot simply choose which federal laws to follow and which to ignore. Kirk points out the irony of Democrats spending years condemning what they call an insurrection while now openly planning revolt against federal immigration law.

He stresses that this kind of resistance is deeply unpopular with the American people, noting that President Trump won the popular vote with 312 electoral votes on a platform that included strong immigration enforcement. Kirk argues that cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Portland would collapse within days without federal funding.

Criminal Immigrants and Sanctuary Cities

Kirk expresses outrage at Romero's suggestion that cities pardon criminal immigrants to keep them in the country. He specifically mentions DUIs and other crimes that could endanger American lives. Kirk argues that Democrat leaders who make jails off-limits for illegals facing deportation should themselves face jail time.

He points to Chicago as an example of a city that spent over $500 million on illegal immigrants and now needs to raise taxes while still depending on federal money to make ends meet. Kirk insists that cities cannot disconnect on immigration while continuing to receive federal funds for everything else.

Corey Lewandowski on Trump's Deportation Plans

Senior advisor to President Trump, Corey Lewandowski, joins the conversation to discuss the incoming administration's immigration enforcement strategy. Lewandowski makes clear that Tom Homan has been empowered by President Trump to find and remove criminal illegal immigrants from American cities, with or without local cooperation.

Lewandowski explains that the American people have been crystal clear about wanting criminals and illegal immigrants removed quickly. He emphasizes the resolve of both President Trump and Tom Homan to fulfill this mandate regardless of resistance from elected officials in sanctuary cities.

Legal Foundation from Trump 1.0

Lewandowski discusses how the first Trump administration laid important legal groundwork through policies like Remain in Mexico and Title 42, as well as through the appointment of federal judges who understand the Constitution. He notes that President Trump's most powerful tool is his direct communication, pointing to how his statements prompted Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to visit Mar-a-Lago and the Mexican president to pledge border cooperation.

The incoming administration plans to close both the northern and southern borders on day one, January 20th, immediately after President Trump takes the oath of office. Lewandowski explains that there are over a million people in the United States with final deportation orders, meaning courts have already determined they must leave. These individuals, along with felons, rapists, and murderers, will be the first priority for removal.

Self-Deportation and Future Immigration

Lewandowski discusses a self-deportation option for illegal immigrants currently in the United States. Those who leave voluntarily can get in line to return legally, but those who force authorities to come get them will lose the privilege of ever returning to the country. He stresses that America wants immigrants who follow the legal process, just like every other industrialized nation requires.

The mission of Customs and Border Patrol will shift under the new administration to preventing illegal entry and protecting the homeland. Lewandowski reports that border patrol agents and ICE officers are excited about this change in mission and renewed purpose.

Increased Morale Among Law Enforcement

A significant development Lewandowski highlights is the dramatic increase in morale among federal law enforcement. Officers who could have retired under the Biden administration are now choosing to stay because of Trump's election. Some who already retired are asking to come back to government service specifically to participate in this mission.

Lewandowski has spoken with people who have served 10, 20, or 25 years who want to return after only minimal retraining. He also notes massive increases in recruiting efforts for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy, with people specifically requesting border patrol assignments because they know they will finally be allowed to do their jobs instead of being stuck at desks.

Threats from Chinese and Iranian Agents

Kirk asks about threats beyond just the quantity of illegal immigrants, specifically mentioning potential Chinese agents and Iranians who may have entered the country. Lewandowski believes the government knows about these individuals but has been complicit in allowing the situation to continue. He references a 60 Minutes segment that documented Chinese military-age males entering the country and calling Uber for pickup.

Under the Trump administration, law enforcement officials will no longer be handcuffed from addressing these threats. Every resource will be used to identify foreign nationals, including those who entered as students but overstayed, and anyone in the country illegally. US Customs and Immigration Services has records of all these individuals, including those who overstayed visas and potential criminal aliens.

A Cabinet with Titanium Backbones

Lewandowski characterizes President Trump's incoming cabinet as having "backbones of titanium." He has spoken with most or all cabinet nominees and says they are ready for war against the mainstream media and the left. The key difference from eight years ago is that this time the team is fully prepared and shares Donald Trump's exact vision.

One nominee Lewandowski spoke with has already met with 11 US senators and has approximately 40 people ready to walk into their agency on day one, January 20th, to inform bureaucrats that there is a new sheriff in town. Lewandowski hopes President Trump will immediately rescind Joe Biden's executive order giving federal employees five years to work from home, requiring them to report to the office like private sector workers.

Kash Patel and FBI Reform

Lewandowski specifically mentions that when Kash Patel enters the FBI, the organization will experience real, fundamental, and wholesale changes that are long overdue. This comment reflects the broader theme that the entire executive team and cabinet nominees share a mindset of bold reform.

Senate Confirmation Urgency

Both Kirk and Lewandowski emphasize the critical importance of getting Trump's nominees confirmed quickly by the Senate. Lewandowski warns that if nominees are not confirmed promptly, the Biden administration essentially stays in place past January 20th. He calls on the MAGA movement to hold US senators accountable and force them to move nominees through the confirmation process rapidly.

Lewandowski notes that he plans to remain on the outside rather than joining the administration, as he is not much of a rule follower and believes he can best help the president achieve his priorities from outside the government. Kirk agrees that both of them will be fighting from the outside.
