Charlie Kirk on Social Media Censorship and How Trump Is Giving Hope to Young Americans

Charlie Kirk addresses the pattern of conservative voices being silenced on major social media platforms and explains why this is happening before midterm elections. Kirk argues that the left is targeting effective conservative voices, not offensive ones, while leaving accounts like Louis Farrakhan untouched. He also discusses how President Trump's economic policies have transformed opportunities for young Americans, with youth unemployment at 50-year lows and wages rising, contrasting sharply with the mediocrity of the Obama years.

The Great Offensive Against Conservative Voices

Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA, appeared on Fox News to discuss the coordinated efforts by major tech platforms to silence conservative voices ahead of midterm elections. Kirk doesn't debate whether conservatives are being banned, shadow-banned, or censored—he believes the evidence is overwhelming and clear.

When asked why conservatives aren't simply creating alternative platforms, Kirk explained that what's happening represents "the left's big move before the midterms—their great offensive to try to silence differing opinion." He emphasized a critical point: "It's not because the conservative voices are offensive, it's because they are effective."

Selective Enforcement and Coordinated Attacks

Kirk pointed to the targeting of highly engaged, popular conservative voices that "speak hard truths." While some voices might be considered controversial, he raised a pointed question: why aren't platforms removing accounts like Louis Farrakhan or ISIS-linked accounts instead?

The coordination is what concerns Kirk most. "You see these tech giants collude together—you see Twitter, Facebook, and Apple and Google all in the same day delist conservative voices. And it's because they're afraid of the effectiveness of these conservative voices."

The Evidence Is Clear

Kirk noted that examples like Diamond and Silk and other conservative personalities have made the censorship obvious. "If the social media giants are doing them, they're not doing it very well because everybody's on to them because they can chart it, they can look at it and gauge it and they can say, 'Okay, I had 3 million yesterday and then I had zero and it looks like I'm being silenced.'"

He cited specific examples, including Prager University, whose reach went from a couple million to zero just weeks prior. Congressman Kevin McCarthy has been working to shine light on this issue from a congressional perspective.

A Bad Business Decision

Kirk argued that this censorship strategy isn't just wrong—it's bad for business. "They're gonna disenfranchise half of America if they continue on this path." However, he acknowledged the deeper motivation: "The left hates the idea that there are other ideas, and they control these public forums, these vehicles of conversation. They're gonna use every piece of power and influence they can to try to suppress our voice, and we cannot stand for it."

Trump's Economic Impact on Young Americans

Shifting to economic policy, Kirk explained how President Trump is giving hope to young people through concrete results. The contrast with the Obama years is stark.

"During the Obama years, we were complaining about youth unemployment being near 20 percent, student loan debt skyrocketing. And now we see the lowest youth unemployment in 50 years, wages going up. It's the best economy to be a recent college graduate."

Kirk attributed this transformation directly to Trump's leadership: "Thanks to the leadership of President Donald Trump, our generation has hope and optimism again—a lot different than what was promised under President Obama."

The Power of Pro-Growth Policies

Kirk explained that "low taxes, less regulation, entrepreneurial friendly economy is very, very good for young people that are entering the workforce." He argued that young Americans should be thankful to live in this country "at this time with this president who has given the opportunity for our generation that was really, quite frankly, living in mediocrity under the previous administration."

Making the Case to Young Voters

When asked whether young people realize it's Donald Trump and Republicans who gave them tax cuts and reduced regulations, Kirk acknowledged the challenge ahead: "It's gonna be up to us to make the compelling argument for the midterms and of course in 2020 that it is this president that has turned the economy around for young people."

He pushed back against the left's attempts to take credit for the economic boom, noting the contradiction: "The left is trying to take credit for this, and they said, 'Well, this is the guy that's gonna crash the economy.' You can't have it both ways. If you are going to blame him for a crashed economy, you got to give him credit for the booming one."

Record-Breaking Economic Numbers

Kirk laid out the impressive statistics that have emerged since Trump took office:

  • Unemployment at record low levels for black Americans, Hispanic Americans, youth, and women
  • Rising wages across the board
  • GDP growth reaching historic milestones

He highlighted one particularly remarkable achievement: "The first time in this century that the GDP rate is higher than the unemployment rate. Think about that for a second: 4.1 GDP growth, 3.9 percent unemployment rate. Remarkable numbers, and it's only gonna get better from here."

Kirk concluded by noting that these numbers are only being reported on Fox News, suggesting that other networks have "a lot of interesting other stuff to talk about" instead of covering the economic success story happening under the Trump administration.
