Charlie Kirk On Why Socialist Professors Don't Teach for Free: The Hypocrisy of Academic Marxism and Anti-Americanism

A pointed critique emerges about the contradiction between what socialist professors preach and how they practice. If these academics truly believe in the Marxist principles they teach, why do they charge students exorbitant tuition, sell expensive textbooks, and profit from the very capitalist system they claim to oppose? This commentary exposes the gap between academic theory and personal practice, arguing that much of this ideology stems from anti-Americanism. Yet ironically, America remains the only country where even those who despise it refuse to leave. The observation is clear: the biggest proponents of socialism are never the ones waiting in bread lines.

The Contradiction of Socialist Academia

If social science professors genuinely believe the ideological nonsense they profess in their classrooms, a fundamental question arises: why don't they teach for free? If these academics are truly committed to the principles of communitarian values and socialist economics, why do they participate so enthusiastically in the capitalist structures they claim to oppose?

The contradictions are glaring. These professors charge students enormous amounts per credit hour, sell textbooks back to the very kids they're supposedly educating, and profit handsomely from an educational system built on market principles. If they were such benevolent and wonderful communitarians and socialists, they would simply do it for free. They would get rid of the profit structure entirely and be a true example of that which exists in a Marxist society.

Anti-Americanism at the Root

This hypocrisy reveals something deeper than mere inconsistency. The issue is rooted in anti-Americanism. What makes America unique in world history is that we're the only country where even those who hate it refuse to leave. This paradox speaks volumes about the disconnect between rhetoric and reality.

People who claim to despise American values, American capitalism, and American society continue to live here, work here, and benefit from the very system they criticize. If their ideological alternatives were truly superior, one would expect them to relocate to countries that already practice those systems. Yet they don't.

Socialism for Thee, Not for Me

The pattern is unmistakable: the biggest proponents of socialism aren't the ones waiting in bread lines. They're comfortable academics with tenure, healthcare benefits, retirement plans, and salaries that place them well above the average American worker. They advocate for systems that have historically produced scarcity and suffering, yet they themselves never volunteer to experience those conditions.

This disconnect between preaching and practice undermines the credibility of academic Marxism and exposes it for what it truly is—not a genuine commitment to alternative economic systems, but rather a posture of moral superiority that allows certain intellectuals to feel enlightened while enjoying all the benefits of the capitalist society they claim to reject.
