Comedy Sketch Skewers Activist Alex Stein Trying to Fill Charlie Kirk's Shoes at Turning Point USA

This segment opens with comedian Trevor Noah's familiar complaint about being told not to joke about Charlie Kirk, arguing that a man shot while defending gun rights is the kind of grim irony comedy exists to point out. It then cuts to a satirical sketch featuring a young Turning Point USA activist named Alex Stein, who attempts campus confrontations in a self-described dollar store imitation of Kirk's debate style, getting mocked and even threatened with a kick to the groin by a student he tries to provoke. Interviewed by host Rita afterward, Alex insists he isn't trying to replace Kirk, just keep drawing students to Turning Point events the way Kirk once did, and claims Kirk would be thrilled to see the organization's growth in the month since his death.

Comedians Are Told Not to Joke About Charlie Kirk

A comedian pushes back on the idea that Charlie Kirk's death is off-limits for comedy, arguing that the circumstances themselves carry an undeniable dark irony: a man shot while actively defending the right to own guns. He insists he isn't writing it as a joke, just pointing out that as a human being, it's hard not to notice the incongruity of someone making the case for guns on stage moments before being shot.

A Satirical Successor Steps Onto Campus

The segment shifts to a sketch following a young Turning Point USA activist named Alex, introduced as someone determined to continue Charlie Kirk's work on college campuses, albeit with, as the host puts it, his own style. Alex is shown attempting a campus confrontation in the mold of Kirk's viral debate videos, opening with the kind of provocations Kirk was known for.

Getting Bullied, and Getting Back Up

The exchange quickly turns chaotic. A student mocks Alex, telling him to go back to middle school, and Alex responds by claiming he was bullied as a kid, framing his campus activism as a way to channel that pain into something powerful. When the student accuses him of trying to radicalize angry young men, Alex openly agrees, saying he'd like to radicalize the student too, this time in support of Donald Trump. The student responds by threatening to kick him in the groin, leading to an escalating, absurd back-and-forth about what does and doesn't count as assault.

The Dollar Store Version of Charlie Kirk

Afterward, host Rita interviews Alex about the encounter and his broader role within Turning Point USA. Alex readily admits he can't hold a candle to Kirk, calling his own act a dollar store version of Kirk's. He says Kirk personally encouraged him to imitate his style because it drew more students to events and, in turn, helped grow Turning Point USA, framing Kirk's willingness to let others copy him as an act of selflessness.

Keeping the Legacy Alive, One Campus at a Time

Alex says he knows he can't replicate even a fraction of what Kirk accomplished, but insists he intends to keep visiting campuses to preserve Kirk's legacy, which he says will never die. He acknowledges the world is worse off without Kirk, but claims Turning Point USA itself is growing rapidly, adding that Kirk would be ecstatic to see how much the organization has expanded in the month since what Alex calls his terrible assassination.
