Dave Rubin Confronts Those Who Justified Charlie Kirk's Murder and the Profiteers of His Death

Categories: Analysis
December 11, 2025

Dave Rubin addresses two disturbing responses to Charlie Kirk's murder: those who celebrated it and those now profiting by dismantling everything Kirk stood for. Featuring Erika Kirk's emotional response to people who said her husband "had it coming," Rubin calls out Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens for abandoning the Republican party while warning that America may not survive to see its 250th anniversary in 2026. This raw examination challenges viewers to pause amid the cultural chaos and reconsider what truly matters.

Erika Kirk Responds to Those Who Justified Her Husband's Murder

The conversation begins with one of the most disturbing aspects of Charlie Kirk's murder: the public reaction from certain segments of society who justified his death. The host notes that some people claimed Charlie Kirk "had it coming" because he said or believed things they considered controversial or hateful.

When asked what she would say to people who justified his death, Erika Kirk responded with raw emotion: "You're sick. He's a human being. You think he deserved that? Tell that to my three-year-old daughter. Excuse me. You want to watch and high res the video of my husband being murdered and laugh and say he deserves it. There's something very sick in your soul and I pray that God saves you. I pray because that is what is so wrong. The internet in this world has dehumanized us."

The Danger of Calling Everyone Nazis

Dave Rubin identifies two distinct groups responding problematically to Charlie Kirk's death. The first group actively celebrated it. Rubin clarifies this wasn't everybody on the left, but notes a dangerous pattern: "We've been warning for quite some time if you called everybody Nazis that people might start killing Nazis, but it wasn't everybody. But there was a certain portion."

The Profiteers: Those Burning Down What Charlie Stood For

The second group Rubin identifies is even more troubling to him: people who have decided to profit from Kirk's death by dismantling everything he cared about and lived for. Rubin specifically calls out Tucker Carlson, referencing a statement where Tucker said "the people he hates most are Christian Zionists."

"Charlie was literally the number one Christian Zionist in the world in some sense, right?" Rubin emphasizes. "This is the road that you guys have all gone down. So whether it's for money or for clicks or for some trying to fill some freaking spiritual void or something, it's like everybody maybe right now, you know, it's Christmas in two weeks. Like maybe everybody wants to pause for a moment and take a moment and think about what that is about."

Candace Owens and the Republican Party Debate

Earlier in the discussion, a clip of Candace Owens is shown where she states: "And I don't care about your midterms, okay? I don't care about your next year midterms and whether or not the Republican party is united. Okay?"

The response to this is forceful and urgent: "I care about those midterms because if the Democrats win and they keep getting cities like they just got New York City and if you know Jasmine Crockett becomes a senator from Texas, we could give this all up. We are rolling into our 250th anniversary. 2026, 250 years of America. Pretty freaking sweet, but pretty freaking young. Most countries in Europe are way, way older than us. Some of them in the thousands. We may not make it. So, you better damn well care."

The speaker continues: "So, when you hear people like her saying, 'Well, I don't care anymore. The Republicans suck.' Or Tucker's been saying it, you know, he hates the Republicans some like he hates the Republicans more than he hates the Democrats. I'm not saying everything they do is perfect. It is what it is. They're it's politics. But if you can't see what is good and what is bad right now or you're somehow rooting for the bad side so you can punish some other people, I don't know what to do with you."

A Call for Humility and Forgiveness

Rubin reflects on the deeper spiritual crisis underlying these conflicts. "Maybe we want to think a little bit about humility and forgiveness and everything else, which is why I'm trying to do this show this way and not add fuel to the fire," he explains.

He reveals his internal struggle: "Phoenix and I have been having a back and forth on how do we deal with this and should I be fighting back, you know, because I'm getting name checked in Tucker show and Candace and all this stuff all the time. Do I want to be part of that? Is that what I want my life to be? And do I want to just narrate the end of the world?"

Personal Costs and What Truly Matters

Rubin acknowledges personal costs to these battles, mentioning that Megyn Kelly unfollowed him on Twitter. "I guess I'm not friends with Megan anymore. Okay. It's fine. Like it actually it's literally it's fine. It's fine. When she unfollowed me on Twitter for 2 minutes, I was like, well, that that sucked. Like, what's going on here? And then I was just like, it's fine. It doesn't none of this matters in that personal like that doesn't matter to you. That doesn't matter to the culture war, right?"

He concludes with a broader perspective: "But something about what is happening right now is way deeper than just the political part. And we've got to figure this out."

[00:00] They basically said that because Charlie

[00:02] said or believed things that they

[00:05] believed were controversial or even

[00:07] hateful

[00:08] >> that he somehow had it coming.

[00:11] >> What do you say to people who justified

[00:14] his death?

[00:15] >> As long as we're on this uh this journey

[00:18] calling out some of this nonsense with

[00:19] Candace here. She is recently on the

[00:21] political side of things and you tell me

[00:23] is is she on your side? And I don't care

[00:28] about your midterms, okay? I don't care

[00:30] about your next year midterms and

[00:32] whether or not the Republican party is

[00:33] united. Okay?

[00:36] >> I care I care about those midterms

[00:39] because if the Democrats win and they

[00:41] keep getting cities like they just got

[00:42] New York City and if you know Jasmine

[00:45] Crockett becomes a senator from Texas,

[00:48] we could give this all up. We we are

[00:51] rolling into our 250th anniversary.

[00:54] 2026, 250 years of America. Pretty

[00:57] freaking sweet, but pretty freaking

[00:59] young. Most countries in Europe are way,

[01:01] way older than us. Some of them in the

[01:03] thousands.

[01:05] We may not make it. So, you better damn

[01:08] well care. So, when you hear people like

[01:10] her saying, "Well, I don't care anymore.

[01:11] The Republicans suck." Or or Tucker's

[01:13] been saying it, you know, he hates the

[01:14] Republicans some some like he hates the

[01:16] Republicans more than he hates the

[01:18] Democrats. I'm not saying everything

[01:19] they do is perfect. It is what it is.

[01:21] They're it's politics. But if you can't

[01:23] see what is good and what is bad right

[01:25] now or you're somehow rooting for the

[01:27] bad side so you can punish some other

[01:29] people, I don't know what to do with

[01:31] you. And I and I don't think Erica knows

[01:33] what to do with a lot of this either.

[01:35] >> Erica, one of the most alarming things

[01:38] about Charlie's murder was the way that

[01:41] some people in this country reacted to

[01:43] it.

[01:43] >> Yeah.

[01:44] >> And not just online. This was kind of

[01:46] this was an idea that you encountered a

[01:48] lot. And the idea was this. They kind of

[01:51] justified it. They basically said that

[01:53] because Charlie said or believed things

[01:56] that they believed were controversial or

[01:59] even hateful that he somehow had it

[02:02] coming. What do you say to people who

[02:05] justified his death?

[02:08] >> You're sick.

[02:11] He's a human being.

[02:15] You think he deserved that?

[02:18] Tell that to my three-year-old daughter.

[02:29] Excuse me.

[02:32] You want to watch

[02:34] and high res

[02:37] the video of my husband being murdered

[02:42] and laugh

[02:43] and say he deserves it.

[02:46] There's something very sick in your soul

[02:49] and I pray that God saves you.

[02:55] I pray

[02:57] because that is what is so wrong.

[03:02] dehumanized

[03:52] >> So there's two things going on here. So

[03:56] in that clip, they're talking about the

[03:57] people that kind of celebrated it,

[03:58] right? And there were a certain set of

[04:00] people. It wasn't everybody on the left

[04:01] at all. We've been warning for quite

[04:04] some time if you called everybody Nazis

[04:06] that people might start killing Nazis,

[04:08] but it wasn't everybody. But there was a

[04:09] certain portion. So that's one set of

[04:12] people. The other set that's not

[04:15] directly uh referenced there, but what

[04:18] we're talking about here is the people

[04:19] that have decided to profit off it. The

[04:21] people who have decided to take

[04:23] everything that Charlie cared about and

[04:25] lived for and burn it down. You know,

[04:28] Tucker doing that thing about how the

[04:30] people he hates most in the country, or

[04:32] it wasn't even in the country, I think

[04:34] he said the people he hates most are

[04:35] Christian Zionists. Charlie was

[04:37] literally the number one Christian

[04:38] Zionist in in the world in some sense,

[04:42] right? Um that this is the road that you

[04:45] guys have all gone down. So whether it's

[04:47] for money or for clicks or for some

[04:49] trying to fill some freaking spiritual

[04:52] void or something, it's like everybody

[04:55] may maybe right now, you know, it's

[04:57] Christmas in two weeks. Like maybe

[05:00] everybody wants to pause for a moment

[05:01] and and take a moment and think about

[05:03] what that is about. whether you're

[05:05] Christian or Jewish or anything else,

[05:07] what the birth of Christ is about. Maybe

[05:10] we want to think a little bit about

[05:11] humility and forgiveness and everything

[05:12] else, which is why I'm trying to do this

[05:14] show this way and and not add fuel to

[05:16] the fire. And and I didn't for weeks

[05:18] now, Phoenix and I have been having a

[05:20] back and forth on how how do we deal

[05:22] with this and should I be fighting back,

[05:25] you know, because I'm getting name

[05:26] checked in Tucker show and Candace and

[05:27] all this stuff all the time. Do I want

[05:29] to be part of that? Is that what I want

[05:30] my life to be? And do I want to just

[05:32] narrate the end of the world? You know,

[05:33] they used to say the revolution will be

[05:35] televised and now the revolution will be

[05:36] live streamed. And how much do you want

[05:38] to do that? And how much do you want to

[05:39] call out your friends and everything

[05:41] else? Look, I guess I'm not friends with

[05:42] Megan anymore. Okay. Okay. It's fine.

[05:44] Like it act it's literally it's fine.

[05:46] It's fine. When she unfollowed me on

[05:48] Twitter for 2 minutes, I was like, well,

[05:50] that that that kind of sucked. Like,

[05:51] what's going on here? And then I was

[05:52] just like, it's fine. It doesn't none of

[05:54] this matters in that in that personal

[05:56] like that doesn't matter to you. That

[05:58] doesn't matter to the culture war,

[05:59] right? And and in a way it doesn't

[06:01] matter to me. going to have friends.

[06:04] But something about what is happening

[06:06] right now is way deeper than just the

[06:09] political part. And we've got to figure

[06:12] this out.
