Donald Trump's Second Inauguration Speech: America's Golden Age Begins Right Now

President Donald Trump delivered his second inaugural address on January 20, 2025, declaring it "liberation day" for America. With Vice President Vance, Speaker Johnson, and fellow presidents in attendance, Trump outlined sweeping executive orders to secure the border, declare a national energy emergency, end DEI policies, and restore what he calls "common sense" to government. Speaking on Martin Luther King Day, Trump promised to make America "greater, stronger, and far more exceptional than ever before," announcing plans to eliminate the Department of Education's radical theories, designate cartels as terrorist organizations, and even rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America.

The Golden Age of America Begins

President Donald Trump began his second inaugural address by declaring that "the Golden Age of America begins right now." Standing before Vice President Vance, Speaker Johnson, Supreme Court justices, and former presidents including Clinton, Bush, Obama, and Biden, Trump promised that America would once again be respected worldwide and would no longer allow itself to be taken advantage of by other nations.

Trump emphasized that his administration would put America first in every decision, reclaiming sovereignty, restoring safety, and rebalancing the scales of justice. He declared an end to what he called "the vicious, violent and unfair weaponization of the justice department and our government," promising that the nation's top priority would be creating a country that is proud, prosperous, and free.

Confronting the Crisis of Trust

Trump painted a stark picture of the challenges facing America, describing a government confronting a crisis of trust. He criticized what he called "a radical and corrupt establishment" that has extracted power and wealth from citizens while the pillars of society "lay broken and seemingly in complete disrepair."

The president pointed to specific failures, including the government's inability to manage crises at home while "stumbling into a continuing catalog of catastrophic events abroad." He cited the response to hurricane damage in North Carolina and the fires in Los Angeles as examples of a system that "can no longer deliver basic services in times of emergency."

Trump also criticized government spending priorities, noting that the government "has given unlimited funding to the defense of foreign borders but refuses to defend American borders or more importantly its own people." He condemned the practice of providing "sanctuary and protection for dangerous criminals, many from prisons and mental institutions that have illegally entered our country from all over the world."

A Mandate for Change

Describing his election as "a mandate to completely and totally reverse a horrible betrayal," Trump declared that "America's decline is over." He promised to immediately restore the integrity, competency, and loyalty of America's government.

Reflecting on his journey back to the White House, Trump said he had "been tested and challenged more than any president in our 250-year history" over the past eight years. He referenced the assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, saying, "I felt then and believe even more so now that my life was saved for a reason. I was saved by God to make America great again."

Trump characterized January 20, 2025, as "liberation day," expressing hope that the election would be remembered as "the greatest and most consequential election in the history of our country." He noted dramatic increases in support "from virtually every element of our society," including young and old, men and women, and various racial and ethnic communities.

Historic Executive Orders on Immigration

Trump announced he would sign a series of historic executive orders, beginning with declaring a national emergency at the southern border. His immigration agenda includes:

  • Immediately halting all illegal entry
  • Beginning the process of returning "millions and millions of criminal aliens back to the places from which they came"
  • Reinstating the "remain in Mexico" policy
  • Ending the practice of catch and release
  • Sending troops to the southern border
  • Designating cartels as foreign terrorist organizations
  • Invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to eliminate foreign gangs and criminal networks

Trump declared that as commander-in-chief, he has "no higher responsibility than to defend our country from threats and invasions," promising to do so "at a level that nobody's ever seen before."

National Energy Emergency and Economic Policy

Trump announced he would declare a national energy emergency, explaining that the inflation crisis was caused by "massive overspending and escalating energy prices." His signature promise: "We will drill baby drill."

The president pledged to make America "a manufacturing nation once again," leveraging what he called "the largest amount of oil and gas of any country on Earth." His energy agenda includes bringing prices down, filling strategic reserves, and exporting American energy worldwide.

Trump also promised to "end the green New Deal" and revoke the electric vehicle mandate, which he said would save the auto industry. "You'll be able to buy the car of your choice," he told Americans, thanking the UAW workers for their support.

Trade Reform and the External Revenue Service

Announcing an overhaul of the trade system, Trump explained his philosophy: "Instead of taxing our citizens to enrich other countries, we will tariff and tax foreign countries to enrich our citizens."

To implement this vision, Trump announced the establishment of the External Revenue Service to collect all tariffs, duties, and revenues. He predicted "massive amounts of money pouring into our treasury coming from foreign sources," declaring that "the American dream will soon be back and thriving like never before."

Government Efficiency and Free Speech

Trump confirmed his administration would establish the Department of Government Efficiency to restore competence and effectiveness to the federal government. He also promised to end government censorship and bring back free speech to America.

"Never again will the immense power of the state be weaponized to persecute political opponents, something I know something about," Trump said. He pledged to restore "fair, equal and impartial justice under the constitutional rule of law" and to bring law and order back to American cities.

Ending DEI and Gender Ideology

In one of his most controversial announcements, Trump declared he would "end the government policy of trying to socially engineer race and gender into every aspect of public and private life." He promised to forge "a society that is colorblind and merit-based."

Trump made a definitive statement on gender policy: "As of today, it will henceforth be the official policy of the United States government that there are only two genders: male and female."

Military and Foreign Policy

Trump announced he would reinstate service members "who were unjustly expelled from our military for objecting to the COVID vaccine mandate with full back pay." He also promised to stop warriors from being "subjected to radical political theories and social experiments while on duty."

The president said he would measure success "not only by the battles we win but also by the wars that we end and perhaps most importantly the wars we never get into." Declaring that his "proudest legacy will be that of a peacemaker and unifier," Trump announced that hostages in the Middle East were coming home.

Territorial Ambitions and Symbolic Changes

In surprising announcements, Trump declared his intention to:

  • Change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America
  • Restore the name of Mount McKinley, which had been changed to Denali
  • Take back control of the Panama Canal from Panama, accusing the country of breaking promises and allowing China to operate the canal

Trump praised President William McKinley for making the country "very rich through tariffs and through talent," noting that McKinley provided the funding for projects including the Panama Canal.

A Vision for America's Future

Speaking on Martin Luther King Day, Trump promised to work toward making King's dream a reality. He declared that "national unity is now returning to America and confidence and pride is soaring like never before."

Trump outlined an ambitious vision for America's future, including ending the chronic disease epidemic, considering the United States a growing nation that expands its territory, and pursuing "our manifest destiny into the stars, launching American astronauts to plant the stars and stripes on the planet Mars."

"Ambition is the lifeblood of a great nation," Trump declared, "and right now our nation is more ambitious than any other."

The Spirit of American Exceptionalism

Trump invoked the history of American pioneers and innovators, recounting how ancestors "pushed thousands of miles through a rugged land of untamed wilderness," crossed deserts, scaled mountains, won the Wild West, ended slavery, rescued millions from tyranny, and lifted billions from poverty.

"If we work together there is nothing we cannot do and no dream we cannot achieve," Trump said. He positioned his own political comeback as proof that nothing is impossible in America: "Many people thought it was impossible for me to stage such a historic political comeback, but as you see today here I am. The American people have spoken."

A Promise to Fight for Every American

Trump concluded his address with a direct appeal to American families: "To every parent who dreams for their child and every child who dreams for their future, I am with you. I will fight for you and I will win for you. We are going to win like never before."

He promised that America would be "a nation like no other, full of compassion, courage and exceptionalism." Trump declared that American power would "stop all wars and bring a new spirit of unity to a world that has been angry, violent and totally unpredictable."

"We will not be conquered, we will not be intimidated, we will not be broken and we will not fail," Trump proclaimed. "From this day on the United States of America will be a free, sovereign and independent nation."

The president ended with a declaration: "We are Americans. The future is ours and our golden age has just begun."
