Jack Posobiec Honors Charlie Kirk at Pre-Trial: Faith, Politics, and the Fight for Truth
Jack Posobiec shares his deep friendship with Charlie Kirk ahead of a critical pre-trial hearing. He describes their daily routine of starting each morning with Bible verses, their tireless work during the 2024 election, and the devastating moment he learned of Charlie's shooting on September 10th. Posobiec emphasizes the importance of establishing the truth about what happened and why, arguing that Charlie's religious and political beliefs may have motivated the attack. He paints a portrait of a man committed to peaceful dialogue, Christ's teachings, and building others up, making the tragedy all the more profound.
Jack Posobiec arrived at the courthouse with a clear mission: to support Charlie Kirk's family and ensure the truth comes out during the pre-trial proceedings. Originally planning to attend regardless, Posobiec's commitment intensified when he learned that Erika Kirk and Charlie's parents would be present. For Posobiec, this wasn't just about legal process—it was about showing the world that Turning Point USA's mission continues despite the tragedy.
"We're not going anywhere," Posobiec stated firmly. "Turning Point USA's mission will continue, and whether that means facing this or whatever adversaries or challenges come our way, we are going to meet them and we're going to do so in spades."
A Friendship Built on Faith and Shared Mission
Posobiec and Kirk worked together daily, fighting political battles side by side through the 2024 election cycle. Their collaboration was intense—what Posobiec describes as working "around the clock almost 24/7, although I would say 24/6 in Charlie's case because he always took the one day off."
But beyond politics, their bond was deeply spiritual. Every morning, Charlie would text Bible verses to close friends and family. "We would start every day with that," Posobiec recalled. "People say, 'Oh, did you start your day by checking news or seeing what's on the headlines?' No, we would go to the Bible and start every single day there."
Since Charlie's death, Posobiec has continued this practice, sending out daily verses to others. "That was the right energy to start the day with, and that's what Charlie always started with."
The two men also prayed together regularly, traveling around the country to advocate for their beliefs and work toward putting the nation on what they saw as a better track.
The Debate Over Religious and Political Beliefs in Court
During the pre-trial hearing, significant argument arose over whether Charlie's political and religious beliefs should be admissible evidence. The defense appeared to resist this angle, but Posobiec believes it's central to understanding what happened.
"If this killing was motivated because of religious and political beliefs and gender issues, then obviously that speaks to not just the reason that the killing took place, but it speaks to motive," Posobiec explained. "We're not here to hash out the theology of it all. But if Charlie's beliefs, which he held and which he was known to hold and to defend and support as he went around the country, are the reason that he was targeted, not only is it germane, it might be the most important thing in the entire case."
The Day Everything Changed
September 10th marked the first campus stop of Charlie's tour, and the team was excited. Charlie had spent weeks preparing—researching arguments, preparing comebacks, and filling a binder with material for engaging with students.
Posobiec wasn't at the event; he was on the East Coast, working in DC. Their shows typically ran back-to-back—Charlie from noon to 2 PM Eastern, then Posobiec's show immediately after. They would do a handoff, and the team would watch for good clips or moments from Charlie's campus appearances.
That day, they had a guest host covering while monitoring Charlie's event. Then the first report came in: there had been a shooting.
"At first I thought, you know, maybe—we get a lot of reports like that and most of the time they actually turn out to be not true or it's a false report because someone's trying to shut down an event, someone calls in a bomb threat, something like that," Posobiec said. "My first thought was that I hope that that's all it is."
But something felt different. During the live show, Posobiec could see comments flooding in, all saying the same thing: Charlie got shot. He asked his team to work the phone chain to confirm what happened. Seconds later, he saw the video.
What Charlie Stood For
For Posobiec, it's crucial that people understand who Charlie Kirk really was. "Charlie didn't stand for violence or hurting or pain or tearing people down. He wanted everyone to be able to build themselves up. And he thought that embracing the Bible, embracing the teachings of Christ, that was the best way to live your life."
This welcoming approach extended to everyone—from the youngest student or child to anyone who would listen. "He did things the right way and he did things the peaceful way. And to see a guy like that get cut down, it's just one of the most horrible things that I've ever seen in my life."
The Surreal Reality of the Courtroom
Being in the courtroom with Tyler—the defendant—has been a surreal experience for Posobiec. The room is small, with just a couple rows in the gallery. Tyler's family sits on one side, Charlie's family on the other, and Tyler sits right there in front of them.
"It's very emotional. It's a very big mix of emotions," Posobiec said. "There's moments of anger, there's moments of just feeling that chill down your spine, hair standing up on your neck, but got to do it."
When asked what it's been like, Posobiec struggled to find words: "Ask me in a year. I don't even know how to put it into words."
Getting the Truth Out
Looking ahead, Posobiec's focus remains on ensuring the truth emerges through proper process. While the pace feels slower than the news and politics world he's accustomed to, he recognizes the prosecution is methodically building their case.
"We need to get the truth out. We need to get the process to be done in a proper manner," he stated. "We want the evidence to get out—number one, to make it clear what happened to Charlie, but number two, to make sure that people know why this happened and to understand what Charlie stood for."
Through nine difficult months since the shooting, Posobiec and the Turning Point USA community have carried forward Charlie's mission. The pre-trial proceedings represent another step in that process—a laborious, grueling, but necessary journey to ensure justice and preserve Charlie Kirk's legacy of faith, peaceful dialogue, and building others up.
