John Stossel Examines Kamala Harris' Policy Flip-Flops and Massive Spending Plans From Fracking to Government Healthcare

[00:06] She won’t hold news conferences and

[00:08] rarely takes questions from reporters.

[00:11] Instead, she reads the same speech

[00:13] off teleprompter, again and again.

[00:16] The path to the White House

[00:18]  runs right through this state.

[00:20] Her campaign also releases carefully produced videos:

[00:24] We believe in a future where every person has

[00:28] the opportunity not just to get by, but to get ahead.

[00:32] That would be good.

[00:33] But would Harris’ policies allow that?

[00:37] America is on track to bankruptcy.

[00:39] The Vice President votes in the affirmative.

[00:41] Harris repeatedly cast tie-breaking votes

[00:44] to spend more of your money.

[00:46] Unlocking the ability to pass

[00:48] a Covid relief package without Republican votes.

[00:53] Last election, I ran a game show

[00:55] that compared candidates’ spending plans.

[00:58] It found that Trump and Biden wanted to

[01:00] increase spending by more than $200 billion.

[01:04] Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, by trillions.

[01:08] But I was surprised that the

[01:09] biggest spending plans came from:

[01:13] Kamala Harris.

[01:14] Her proposals would have exploded our debt.

[01:17] The highest inflation in 41 years.

[01:19] Biden’s irresponsible spending ignited nasty inflation.

[01:23] Imagine what inflation would be like

[01:25] if Harris had been President.

[01:27] In her first policy speech, she’s proposed

[01:30] almost $2 trillion in new spending.

[01:33] Provide first-time home buyers with $25,000.

[01:38] And $2 trillion is small compared to

[01:40] what she wanted to do during Covid.

[01:43] Give every American $2,000 a month.

[01:46] That would have cost $21 trillion.

[01:50] She’s also endorsed eliminating

[01:51] private health insurance,

[01:53] having government take it all over.

[01:55] Even CNN anchors seemed puzzled.

[01:58] So, for people out there who like their insurance,

[02:01] they don’t get to keep it?

[02:02] Well, listen, the idea is that

[02:04] everyone gets access to medical care.

[02:06] Now, her campaign says she no longer supports

[02:09] entirely government-run health care.

[02:11] She’s flip-flopped on other issues.

[02:13] There’s no question, I’m in favor of banning fracking.

[02:16] “No question,” she told CNN.

[02:18] But now, Harris wants votes in Pennsylvania,

[02:20] where fracking provides jobs.

[02:23] Her campaign now says she won’t ban fracking.

[02:26] And they even say Republicans’ claiming she wanted

[02:29] a fracking ban is “false… an obvious attempt to distract.”

[02:34] But what’s false? That’s what she said.

[02:37] There’s no question, I’m in favor of banning fracking. So yeah.

[02:41] She also wanted to force gun owners

[02:42] to sell their guns to the government.

[02:45] I support a mandatory buyback program.

[02:47] Mandatory. But again, today:

[02:50] A Harris campaign spokesperson tells us that

[02:52] the Vice President would no longer require this.

[02:55] So, who is the real Kamala Harris?

[02:58] She used to brag about being a tough prosecutor,

[03:01] against even the smallest offenses.

[03:04] I decided I was going to start

[03:07] prosecuting parents for truancy.

[03:09] But then, when progressives said “abolish the police,”

[03:12] she flip-flopped and during the George Floyd riots,

[03:16] when people were looting and setting fires,

[03:18] Harris tweeted, “help post bail for those protesting.”

[03:23] Now that the policing pendulum has swung back,

[03:25] she again brags about locking people up.

[03:28] I took on perpetrators of all kinds.

[03:32] During the 2019 Democratic debate,

[03:34] Tulsi Gabbard pointed out her hypocrisy:

[03:37] She put over 1,500 people in jail

[03:39] for marijuana violations and then

[03:40] laughed about it when she was asked

[03:42] if she ever smoked marijuana.

[03:44] That was true.

[03:45] Have you ever smoked?

[03:47] I have.

[03:47] OK.

[03:48] And I, and I inhaled. I did, I did inhale.

[03:52] Another criticism of Harris is that she’s

[03:55] nasty to people who work for her.

[03:57] Incredibly, there has been a 92% turnover on her staff.

[04:01] Politico called her office,

[04:02] “abusive… an unhealthy environment.”

[04:05] Now if she were a hard-charging boss who got results,

[04:09] that might be okay, but we know what happened

[04:11] when Biden put her in charge of the border.

[04:13] More than 302,000 migrants

[04:16] crossed the southern border.

[04:17] Of course, more people crossed.

[04:19] Harris promised them free stuff.

[04:22] Medicare for all, to people who

[04:23] are in this country illegally?

[04:24] I am opposed to any policy that would

[04:27] deny any human being,

[04:29] public education, or public health. Period.

[04:32] Today, the legacy media want to protect Harris,

[04:35] because they hate Trump so much.

[04:37] They were more honest when

[04:38] Harris ran against other Democrats.

[04:41] You're considered the most liberal United States senator.

[04:45] Somebody said that and it actually was

[04:48] Mike Pence on the debate stage but—

[04:50] Yeah well, actually, the nonpartisan GovTrack

[04:53] has rated you as the most liberal senator.

[04:57] Govtrack’s ranking of Harris was up on their site for 5 years.

[05:01] But once it looked like she would get the nomination,

[05:04] they deleted the page. When questioned about it,

[05:07] they said votes from one legislative session are

[05:10] “not sufficient to create a reliable portrait.”

[05:13] What can be, unburdened by what has been.

[05:18] Harris needs this media cover

[05:20] because she says weird things:

[05:27] Yes, we do talk about equity.

[05:29] We actually believe it is a good principle.

[05:32] Equality and equal opportunity

[05:34] aren’t good enough, she says.

[05:46] So, we need more government redistribution.

[05:51] Finally, Harris embraces the word “woke.”

[05:54] We have to stay woke.

[05:56] Like everybody needs to be woke.

[06:06] She’s the favorite to be our new President?

[06:24] The good news is that America’s Founders

[06:27] wisely created checks on executive power.

[06:30] Foolish media often say

[06:32] the president runs the country.

[06:36] The worst person possible is running the country.

[06:40] of three branches of government,

[06:42] each of which was designed to be able to stop

[06:50] because they’d seen the damage done by tyrants.
