NewsNation's Brian Entin Tracks Down Lance Twiggs' Family Five Months After Charlie Kirk's Killing

Five months after Charlie Kirk's assassination at Utah Valley University, conspiracy theories about the case continue to spread online as Tyler Robinson prepares for another court appearance. NewsNation senior national correspondent Brian Entin secures an exclusive, on-camera but anonymous interview with a family member of Lance Twiggs, Robinson's partner, whose text messages with Robinson became central to the case and who has remained largely out of public view since the shooting. The family member describes both young men as exceptionally intelligent, calls Twiggs a gifted concert pianist, and attributes their strange post-shooting text exchange to a gaming and Discord subculture where that kind of language felt normal rather than abnormal. She reveals that Twiggs, who briefly had FBI protection due to threats against his family, is no longer under that protection and expresses uncertainty about whether he will continue cooperating with investigators going forward, while still stating she is fully confident police have the right suspect. The segment also covers a new defense motion seeking to remove the entire prosecution team over a prosecutor's child who was near the shooting.

Five Months After Charlie Kirk's Assassination, New Questions Surface

Five months after Charlie Kirk was fatally shot on a Utah college campus, questions and conspiracy theories about the case continue to spread online. Tyler Robinson, the man charged with Kirk's murder, is set to appear in court again, raising the question of whether his upcoming trial will resolve some of the lingering unknowns in the case.

Brian Entin Tracks Down Lance Twiggs' Family

Among the most discussed pieces of evidence are a series of unusual text messages between Robinson and his partner, Lance Twiggs, which became central to the case against Robinson. NewsNation senior national correspondent Brian Entin reports from the courtyard at Utah Valley University where Kirk was killed, having secured an exclusive interview with a family member of Twiggs, who has largely stayed out of public view since the shooting and agreed to speak only without showing her face, citing ongoing threats against the family.

Both of Them Were Super Smart

The family member describes both Robinson and Twiggs as unusually intelligent young men.

"Both of them, super smart. Lance, I do know that I remembered, he's even a concert pianist. His talent for piano music was off the charts, not normal. It was very impressive," she says. "And that's kind of what I've heard about Tyler, that he was just so smart... It's just a shame. These kids had so much potential and such a bright future."

Life Inside a Discord and Gaming World

Asked what she believes changed, the family member points to the two young men's deep involvement in online gaming and Discord communities.

"From my understanding, playing these games and being a part of this Discord, they didn't seem like they were in the real world," she says, explaining that the unusual phrasing in the text messages between Robinson and Twiggs after the shooting reflected how the two normally communicated within that online world. "The way they spoke wasn't abnormal" for them, she says.

Where Is Lance Twiggs Now?

Entin notes that Twiggs' whereabouts have been a major point of speculation, with questions about whether he remains under FBI protection.

"My understanding was for the first few weeks, because there were so many threats against his family and him, they did have a little bit of FBI detail and they moved around a little bit. But they're not anymore. He's with his family," the family member says.

Did Lance Twiggs Cooperate Willingly?

Asked whether Twiggs cooperated voluntarily with investigators, the family member describes a more complicated picture.

"I know that they said that he was very cooperative, but they had to go get him, bring him in. He didn't voluntarily go in and say, 'I heard about this and I have some knowledge.' He had to go in," she says, adding that Twiggs handed over information only once authorities specifically asked for it. She expressed uncertainty about whether he would continue cooperating with the investigation going forward.

I'm 100% Confident They Have the Right Guy

Despite the many competing theories circulating online about other people or even other governments being involved, the family member says she has no doubts about the case against Robinson.

"How confident are you that police have the right guy?" Entin asks. "Tyler Robinson, 100%," she responds.

A New Court Battle Over the Prosecution Team

Entin closes by previewing a significant hearing scheduled for the following day, in which Robinson's defense team is asking the court to remove the entire prosecution team from the case. The defense argues that one of the prosecutors' children was present at the Charlie Kirk event, roughly 80 feet from where Kirk was shot, creating a conflict of interest since the prosecutor's child is technically a witness to the shooting. A judge is expected to rule on the request.
