Candace Owens Confronts Ben Shapiro Over Charlie Kirk Legacy and Allegations of Behind-the-Scenes Manipulation

Categories: Investigation
December 20, 2025

Candace Owens delivers an explosive response to Ben Shapiro's public statements at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest, detailing years of what she describes as manipulation, legal harassment, and efforts to destroy her career. She reveals Shapiro allegedly bought his way into AmericaFest after threatening Jewish donors to pressure Charlie Kirk, shares the story of her firing from The DailyWire+ in what she calls a public humiliation, and questions Shapiro's defensive stance regarding Erika Kirk. Owens also discusses new details from military witness Mitch regarding a September 9th meeting at Fort Huachuca, including potential connections to DailyWire+ employees and Congressman Mark Amodei.

Ben Shapiro's Return to AmericaFest Stage

Candace Owens begins by addressing Ben Shapiro's recent appearance at Turning Point USA's AmericaFest, where he called her out by name from the stage. She reveals the backstory of how Shapiro returned to the AmericaFest speaker list in 2024 after years of absence. According to Owens, after The DailyWire+ fired her in March 2024, Charlie Kirk immediately supported her publicly because they were "like brother and sister." She claims Shapiro then worked behind the scenes with Jewish donors to threaten Charlie Kirk, demanding that Owens not be invited to speak at year-end events, calling her an anti-semite, while simultaneously offering to spend what Andrew Kolvet described as "an offensive amount of money" to become part of AmericaFest himself.

Owens characterizes this as Shapiro literally "buying friends and influence and fame," and states she told Kolvet to take the money because she didn't care. She also reveals that Shapiro worked with Bari Weiss to publish articles claiming that donors and board members of TPUSA wanted Owens gone, all stemming from what she describes as petty behind-the-scenes behavior after she called him out on stage.

The Thomas Sowell Story

To illustrate what she calls Shapiro's "pettiness," Owens shares a story about Dr. Thomas Sowell of Stanford. In 2023, shortly after October 7th, Shapiro's audience significantly declined as he screamed at Americans about prioritizing Israel. When Congressman Brian Mast wore an IDF uniform in Congress and said there's no such thing as an innocent Palestinian life, Owens responded to a post by Yashar Ali, tweeting that "genocidal language, no matter who shares it, is always wrong."

This tweet caused what Owens describes as an emotional breakdown among Israel supporters. At a private event, Shapiro was caught on video standing on a table insulting Owens over her "genocide is always wrong" tweet. The video leaked on November 14th, when Owens was six days away from giving birth and very heavily pregnant. Despite being colleagues, no one from The DailyWire+ stepped in to manage the situation, and virtually every journalist contacted Owens for comment.

Owens reveals that her husband instructed her to take the high road, read the Sermon on the Mount, and remember that "blessed are the peacemakers." She tweeted this biblical passage ending with "Christ is king," thinking she would be commended for taking the high road. The next day, she appeared on Tucker Carlson's show in an interview booked six weeks earlier. When asked who she looked up to, she told Tucker it was her dream to meet Thomas Sowell, whose books were part of her political awakening.

According to Owens, after seeing this interview, Shapiro had his team reach out and schedule an interview with Thomas Sowell, paying "an offensive amount of money" to "effectively purchase a black man who has no idea what's going on" in his 90s, specifically to hurt her feelings. She describes this as an "F you Candace for taking the high road and saying that genocide is always wrong."

The DailyWire+ Firing

Owens details her firing from The DailyWire+, stating it wasn't for what she said, but for what they assumed she meant and for trolls she didn't respond to. While acknowledging business owners can fire whoever they want, she characterizes the manner of her firing as atypical and designed to humiliate her. Rather than having a conversation, she was dramatically removed after doing her show without knowing she would be fired.

The DailyWire+ then set up a stage in her studio and conducted what Owens calls a "town hall" with 300 employees invited both in person and electronically. She compares this to "a slave hanging" where everyone gathers to watch someone be whipped as an example of what not to do. Video from this town hall, obtained by Steven Crowder, shows then-CEO Jeremy Boreing presenting a production detailing Owens' alleged offenses, including her tweets about genocide, pornography, and "Christ is king."

Boreing's presentation showed clips and made claims about anti-semitism, including connecting her to Nick Fuentes despite Owens having only spoken to him once regarding Kanye. She emphasizes that she stands by all her tweets: that pornography harms men, that we should investigate who profits from it, and that genocide is always wrong regardless of which country perpetrates it.

Ongoing Legal Harassment

Owens describes what she calls "legal abuse" that has continued since her firing. She claims there have been efforts working behind the scenes to call advertisers attempting to bankrupt her, sending undercover interns to stalk her, and three court proceedings issued for "every solitary petty infraction" against things she says. She states Shapiro has worked with Bari Weiss to have articles written about her, and even sued her for interviewing a USS Liberty survivor who mentioned his name, despite his claims to care about free speech and debate.

While she's tolerated much of this harassment, she states she draws the line when it comes to Charlie Kirk, calling Shapiro an "impostor" who pays to pretend he has friends and belongs on stages, getting donors to pressure people and threatening to withdraw money while offering advertising spends.

AmericaFest Speech and Response

At AmericaFest, Shapiro attacked Owens, Tucker Carlson, and Megyn Kelly from the stage. He accused Owens of spending every day since Charlie Kirk's murder casting aspersions at TPUSA employees, implying or claiming complicity in a cover-up, and spewing "baseless trash implicating everyone from French intelligence to Mossad to members of TPUSA." He called out Tucker Carlson for going silent on Owens' targeting of TPUSA and Megyn Kelly for characterizing Owens as a young mother while shying away from condemning her actions.

Owens responds by stating she knows the tactics Shapiro uses to feign popularity, the money he spends on advertising to inflate numbers and make people think he's popular. She claims the kids at AmericaFest booed him on stage, and she received messages from TPUSA attendees asking why he was on stage "standing against everything that Charlie believed in." She asserts that Shapiro wasn't Charlie's friend and that Charlie didn't like him.

In a direct and profane confrontation, Owens tells Shapiro she's done with the harassment and stalking, calling him out for having "no values that exist outside of the Talmud." She describes him as a "Talmudic Jew" and encourages people to learn what's in the Talmud to understand what he thinks of them, claiming it teaches that non-Jews are animals they have a right to own, worship, lie to, sue, deceive, and treat poorly.

Tucker Carlson's AmericaFest Speech

Following Shapiro on stage, Tucker Carlson spoke about the impulse to deplatform people and the "red guard cultural revolution thing" that conservatives fought against. He emphasized that having actual debate "was the whole point of Charlie Kirk's public life" and stated "I think that he died for it."

Carlson revealed that the last several months of Charlie's life were devoted in part to arguing about this event and specifically Carlson's speech, which Charlie asked him to do earlier in the year. Charlie was immediately put under "immense pressure from people who give money to Turning Point" who wanted him to remove Carlson from the roster. Carlson states that Charlie "stood firm in his often stated and deeply held belief that people should be able to debate" and that this is "Charlie Kirk's true legacy."

Investigation into Fort Huachuca Meeting

Owens provides updates on the investigation into a September 9th meeting at Fort Huachuca. She emphasizes that military witness Mitch's presence at the base has been verified through call logs, meeting records, and an 18-minute video showing him asking for directions. Everything he said about being put on an NDA for 35 years has been verified through paperwork regarding his lawsuits.

While Owens can verify every aspect of Mitch's story, she cannot verify his memory or facial recognition abilities. However, she finds certain elements compelling, including the call sign "SAM702" or "RCH702" potentially connecting to Las Vegas (area code 702), and that witness Mitch identified Congressman Mark Amodei from Las Vegas when shown photos without context.

Regarding Amodei's alibi, the congressman tweeted that public records show he was returning to Washington DC from his district on September 8th and in a 12-hour markup in the House Appropriations Committee on September 9th. However, internet researchers discovered he missed two roll calls in the morning and was only present in the evening or late afternoon, meaning he could have spent the night in Arizona on September 8th, attended the morning meeting on the 9th, and caught a military flight to make it in time for the third roll call in DC.

Owens also reveals she has travel logs showing that Brian Harpole, Charlie's security, could have made it to that base for the early morning meeting. She has reached out to Harpole twice via iMessage asking him to clarify if he was somewhere else that morning, but has received no response despite knowing he received the messages.

Potential DailyWire+ Connection

A new development emerged when Owens was having dinner with Johnny Yep from Catholic for Catholics and received a text about Shapiro calling her out on stage again. At that time, something went viral on X showing that Erika Kirk allegedly lied about not having dated anybody before Charlie Kirk. Owens knew Erika had dated someone before Charlie but hadn't known she made that claim.

People made videos wondering if Erika had misremembered or was intentionally lying about her past. Owens notes there seems to be a disparity between Erika's version of events and other people's versions at various meetings, including conflicting accounts between Andrew Kolvet, Erika Kirk, and a surgeon regarding a three-way call about a potential frangible bullet.

Owens remembered that Charlie told her about Cabot Phillips (a DailyWire+ employee) dating a girl, and when she saw a picture of Phillips in someone's TikTok, she sent it to Mitch without context. Mitch identified Phillips as the person he remembers being at the base, describing him as having a beard and being around 37 years old. Owens messaged Phillips twice asking for an off-record conversation but received no response.

She checked Phillips' appearances on The DailyWire+'s Morning Wire show and found he was missing from September 4th to September 10th. While emphasizing she cannot trust Mitch's vision definitively and that this could be a lookalike, she finds it compelling enough to investigate further. She notes finding information about Phillips' father, who she describes as "a pretty big guy, taking a lot of money from the Adens and definitely a neocon."

Shapiro's Defensive Posture and Israel Connections

Owens questions why Shapiro is having what she describes as a "weird spiral" demanding allegiance to Erika Kirk when he had no allegiance to Charlie Kirk while alive. She finds it suspicious that he's so quick to say he would "pick up his bloody mic and carry on" and that he fired half the staff involved in DailyWire+ Kids only to drop a million dollars on Charlie's show, "weaseling your way into the chair when you weren't invited."

She states that Shapiro's general demeanor is making her think "there's something there" and that she's "starting to think in a major way that Israel's got something to do with killing Charlie Kirk." She notes that Shapiro mentioned Mossad in his speech even though she never once said Mossad killed Charlie Kirk, asking if that was "by accident."

Owens discusses Fort Huachuca's involvement in lawsuits and sworn affidavits regarding 9/11, with people asserting that prepping for that attack took place there. She's working on final verification of information about Egyptian planes that "leads you to Israel" and states they were "panicking about the Egyptian planes."

Call for Investigation Focus

Owens directs her audience to focus their investigative efforts on concrete evidence of what occurred at Fort Huachuca on the early morning of September 9th. She specifically does not want emails about Mitch's personal history, divorce, or speculation about military base access, as all of that has been verified. The focus should remain on verifying or debunking the people Mitch claims to have seen at the meeting.

She emphasizes that the meeting was concluding around 7:30 AM on the 9th, and flight routes show it's possible to get back to DC in that timeframe. A GiveSendGo campaign has been set up at givesendgo.com/candispodcast to support Mitch, who is facing people picking apart his entire life, including attacks for having PTSD, which Owens notes is common among veterans.

Broader Themes and Conclusions

Throughout the episode, Owens emphasizes themes of breaking free from what she calls "mental shackles" and arbitrary authority, waking up to a rigged system, and standing up against manipulation. She discusses the "contract lords" mentality where people believe they can ruin others for years after firing them through legal harassment and market manipulation.

She challenges black Americans to "wake up to your true history" and learn about who was actually involved in the slave trade, asserting that "Jewish people were the ones that were trading us" and were "in control of the slave trade." She frames current conflicts as Christians versus Christians and Christians versus Muslims while the real issue is being overlooked.

Owens concludes by stating she extended every courtesy and tried to take the high road as her husband advised, reading the Sermon on the Mount and tweeting "blessed are the peacemakers." However, she's realized "you can't really do the Christian thing with people that hate Christ" and that "the Christian thing doesn't work with people who hate Christ." She encourages people to understand what's in the Talmud to know what Shapiro "thinks about you" as a self-described "Talmudic Jew."
