Candace Owens Reveals Utah Medical Examiner's Wife Runs Furry Gaming Community

Candace Owens uncovers a disturbing connection in the investigation surrounding Charlie Kirk's assassination at Utah Valley University. The deputy chief medical examiner who handled the case, Dr. Andrew Guajardo, is married to Dr. Ashley Brown Guajardo, a sociology professor who has spent the last decade in Utah promoting furry culture, erotic roleplay in gaming communities, and teaching students to create alternate personas through gaming. With both doctors now relocating to New York, Owens raises serious questions about potential conflicts of interest, undisclosed community connections, and whether this gaming subculture network in Utah has been properly investigated. The coincidences are too significant to ignore.

The Medical Examiner's Suspicious Background

Dr. Andrew Guajardo moved to Utah in 2018 and worked as an assistant at the medical examiner's office. In 2024, when Dr. Deidra Amaro became chief medical examiner, she promoted him to deputy chief examiner. This timeline becomes significant when examining the handling of a controversial case that occurred under their watch.

The public was initially told that Charlie Kirk was murdered by a trans furry gamer on a rooftop. However, there remains no solid proof of the suspect being trans or into furries beyond what certain influencers immediately promoted as part of a left-versus-right political narrative. The suspect allegedly confessed to the crime through Discord messages to fellow gamers, claiming responsibility and announcing his intention to surrender.

The Discord Confession That Doesn't Add Up

The alleged confession messages read: "Hey guys, I have bad news for you all. It was me at UVU yesterday. I'm sorry for all of this. I'm surrendering through a sheriff friend in a few moments. Thanks for all the good times and laughs. You've all been so amazing. Thank you for everything."

Lance Twiggs, Tyler Robinson's alleged boyfriend, indicated in his interview that Tyler was very into gaming—not politics, but gaming specifically. This created a storyline involving trans furry gamers that many found suspicious from the start.

Evidence of a Possible Setup

Public suspicion grew after examining the text messages and Discord confessions, particularly after witnessing surveillance footage showing someone jumping from a Losee rooftop with what appeared to be the skill and precision of an elite operative. After listening to the preliminary hearing, evidence suggests Tyler Robinson could plausibly have been set up by Lance Twiggs. Lance's fingerprints were everywhere, he lived with Tyler, and he would have had access to Tyler's Discord login—something not unusual for couples who live together. His prints were also less degraded than Tyler Robinson's prints on the gun, which had dust in the barrel and likely wasn't even fired.

Who Is Dr. Andrew Guajardo?

The investigation into Dr. Guajardo's background revealed something extraordinary: he is married to someone deeply embedded in the furry gaming community. Dr. Andrew Guajardo is married to Dr. Ashley Brown Guajardo, who at minimum encourages, supports, works with, and propagates furry culture—and occasionally dresses up as one herself.

Meet Dr. Ashley Brown Guajardo

Dr. Ashley Brown Guajardo authored a book titled "Play Like a Fangirl," published by Penguin Random House. The book description explains how women and queer gamers express excitement, creativity, and desire in online gaming communities. It examines how cosplayers, modders, fan artists, fan fiction authors, and TikTok content creators build communities for marginalized fans of games.

The book develops what the authors call the "fangirl gaze" to show how communities of fangirls can be regarded as oppositional, subversive, and transformative in terms of societal expectations around gender, play, and sex.

Ashley's Academic Credentials

Dr. Ashley Brown Guajardo earned her sociology degree from Arizona State University, then obtained her PhD in sociology overseas at the University of Manchester. She has taught at Brunel University in London and spent almost 10 years at the University of Utah. She won awards for innovative and inclusive teaching at both institutions.

Since 2017, she has hosted a weekly educational Twitch stream on games user research methods. She has held several leadership positions, including vice president of the Global Game Jam conference, co-director of IGDA's Games User Research Special Interest Group, and currently serves as president of the Digital Games Research Association.

Her Expertise: Creating Alternate Personas

Dr. Ashley is the author of "Sexuality and Role-Playing Games" and dozens of book chapters and journal articles on fandom and sexuality, particularly in video games and tabletop role-playing games. She is currently working on a book exploring how fantasy can shape sexual desire.

Most significantly, she has spent the last 10 years deeply embedded in Utah's gamer community, working with and explaining the philosophy of how gamers can engage with characters and create personas outside of themselves. Her expertise centers on encouraging people to effectively separate from their real-life persona.

Understanding Furries and Fursonas

The term "furry" describes a diverse community of fans, writers, gamers, and role-players. Most furries create an animal character called their "fursona" with whom they identify and which functions as an avatar within the community. This is not the person themselves—it's an avatar separate from their real identity.

During Lance's testimony at the preliminary hearing, he mentioned going by the name "Luna." This appears to be a gaming character he engages with outside of his identity as Lance Twiggs.

How Erotic Roleplay Works in Gaming

In a video explaining her work, Dr. Ashley described how erotic roleplay differs from cybersex: "In erotic roleplay, you have this roleplay component. Meaning that people are not playing as themselves. They are not seeking out sexual interaction in a game or in a chat room as the human being that they are in their day-to-day life. They are playing the role of a character perhaps in a fantasy world, perhaps from a popular franchise like Star Wars, or just their own original character. They are playing this character that is different from them with different wants, needs, hopes, and dreams, and they're engaging with erotic content."

Ten Years of Access to Utah Students

Dr. Ashley spent the last 10 years working as a professor at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, encouraging her students and gamers to join her on Discord and follow her Twitch streamer account. The question becomes: How big can this community of gamers interested in this subculture be throughout the state of Utah? Have investigators identified everybody on the Discord chat where the confession allegedly occurred?

The Convenient Exit to New York

Similar to Dr. Amaro leaving her position, both Ashley and her husband have now relocated to New York. Dr. Andrew Guajardo has accepted a position as chief medical examiner in New York, and Dr. Ashley is now an assistant arts professor at NYU. She has now been around students for a very long time, with access to young people and encouraging them into these communities.

The Unanswered Questions

How large can this particular gaming furry community that encourages creating characters outside of yourself be in Utah? Has Dr. Ashley ever come across Lance Twiggs during her 10-year career in Utah? What about her work with outside organizations and associations studying these communities and encouraging this lifestyle?

Charlie Kirk effectively had a case handled by a medical examiner whose wife runs furry gaming communities in Utah, while the chief medical examiner, Dr. Deidra Amaro, was dating a woman. The number of coincidences is simply too significant to ignore. These are questions that deserve answers.
