Charlie Kirk Calls Christians to Action: Why Biblical Duty Demands Political Engagement This Election Day

November 7, 2022

Charlie Kirk addresses Christians in New Mexico about their biblical responsibility to participate in government and elections. Speaking from Legacy Church in Albuquerque, Kirk argues that scripture commands believers to seek the welfare of their nation, citing Jeremiah 29:7 and other passages. He outlines three critical issues on the ballot: affirming the church as essential, protecting children from gender ideology in schools, and defending life from conception. Kirk challenges common Christian objections to voting, from the belief that politics don't matter to concerns about vote integrity, while emphasizing that imperfect political candidates can still serve God's purposes, just as biblical figures like David, Paul, and Samson did despite their flaws.

The Biblical Case for Christian Political Engagement

Charlie Kirk opened his message at Legacy Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico, by addressing a fundamental question facing Christians: should believers involve themselves in politics, or should they remain detached? Kirk argued that a growing belief among some Christians that they should not care about government represents a dangerous heresy.

While affirming that Jesus must remain at the center of everything believers do, Kirk described his political work as "the second most important thing"—ensuring that Christians can freely do the first and most important thing: spreading the gospel. He emphasized that protecting religious freedom, keeping churches open, and preserving Christian education systems are essential prerequisites for effective ministry.

Jeremiah 29:7 and the Command to Seek National Welfare

Kirk anchored his argument in Jeremiah 29:7, which instructs believers to "seek the welfare of the nation that you are in because your welfare is tied to your nation's welfare." He explained that the Hebrew word translated as "seek" carries the stronger meaning of "demand," "require," or "go to your leaders and say you want it a certain way."

This scripture, Kirk argued, provides clear teaching that Christians should care deeply about what happens in their communities and nation. He pointed to visible deterioration in New Mexico over the past decade, particularly along Route 66 and Central Avenue in Albuquerque, as evidence of what happens when political leaders fail and Christians disengage.

Three Non-Negotiable Issues for Christian Voters

Kirk identified three biblical issues that he believes are literally on the ballot, affecting churches, Christianity, and the gospel itself.

The Church Is Essential

Kirk praised Pastor Steve and Legacy Church for their stand against what he called the tyranny of New Mexico's governor during pandemic-related church shutdowns. He argued that the church proved more essential than strip clubs, liquor stores, Home Depot, marijuana dispensaries, and abortion clinics—all of which remained open while churches were forced to close.

Addressing the common phrase "separation of church and state," Kirk clarified that this concept does not appear in the Constitution, the Federalist Papers, or the Declaration of Independence. He explained it originated from a single letter Thomas Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptist Convention, actually guaranteeing the church protection from government persecution, not the other way around.

Kirk challenged the inconsistency: if separation of church and state truly existed as commonly understood, why could the government shut down churches while Christians supposedly cannot participate in government? He argued this represents an attempt to control Christians while denying them a voice in governance.

God Created Male and Female

The second issue Kirk identified was affirming that God created man and woman, and that men cannot become pregnant. While acknowledging this topic is controversial, he argued that even in a pluralistic society, there must be a clear line: such ideology should never be taught to children in public schools.

Kirk expressed particular concern about what he called "incredibly aggressive irreversible medical interventions" that are "medically mutilating tens of thousands and soon to be hundreds of thousands of children across the country." He called on Christians to declare that children are off limits, especially when schools introduce pornographic content and teach gender ideology to eight, ten, eleven, and twelve-year-olds.

Life Begins at Conception

Despite being told this is a "losing issue" politically, Kirk insisted that protecting life from conception is non-negotiable for Christians. He cited multiple biblical passages supporting this position: Psalms teaching that people are "fearfully and wonderfully made," Jeremiah stating "I knew you before you were in the womb," and the account of John the Baptist leaping in Elizabeth's womb at the sound of Jesus.

Kirk connected this issue to the fundamental Christian belief that humans are made in the image of God with eternal souls. He contrasted this with a worldview based on Darwinian evolution, arguing that if humans are merely accidents of random processes, there would be no moral barrier to abortion. But when each person is understood as having a soul made in God's image, every life deserves equal protection under the law.

Kirk noted that Albuquerque has become the late-term abortion capital of the world, suggesting this contributes to the "spiritual darkness and pressure that plagues this city." He referenced Ephesians 5:2, which calls believers to expose evil deeds, arguing the church must take a stand on this issue.

Addressing Common Objections to Christian Voting

The "My Vote Will Be Stolen" Excuse

Kirk addressed the objection that there's no point in voting if votes might be stolen. While acknowledging this possibility, he argued that not voting guarantees a zero percent chance of saving the Republic, while voting provides at least some chance. He characterized refusing to vote as essentially acknowledging that the enemy has won.

The "I Don't Have Time" Excuse

Kirk dismissed the excuse of not having enough time to vote, pointing out that people willingly wait 20 minutes at Starbucks for coffee or 15 minutes at McDonald's, but claim they cannot spare 10 to 20 minutes to vote early or on Election Day. He suggested this represents spiritual opposition whispering excuses.

The Apathy Problem Among Christians

Kirk shared a troubling statistic: only half of regular church-attending Christians vote in midterm elections, while 56 percent of secular people vote. He suggested part of the problem is that most churches, unlike Legacy Church, do not encourage their congregations to vote and participate in civic life.

He cited James 4:17, which states "for whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin," arguing that failing to vote after understanding its importance constitutes rebellion against God.

Biblical Examples of Political Engagement

Kirk challenged the notion that Jesus was not political or that Christians should ignore worldly affairs. He asked whether anyone could find scripture where God encourages believers to ignore what's happening in the world around them, arguing instead that Jesus tells believers to lean into evil and "be not afraid."

He cited Matthew 28:19, the Great Commission, emphasizing that Jesus commanded disciples to make disciples "of all nations." Kirk argued that true discipleship goes deeper than conversion and includes caring about the welfare of the nation. He listed biblical examples of believers who sought to influence secular government for God's purposes: Daniel, Esther, Mordecai, Jeremiah, and Nehemiah.

Kirk also referenced Jesus's teaching in Matthew 5 about believers being salt and light. Salt and light both change the environment they encounter—salt preserves and transforms, while light drives out darkness. Kirk challenged Christians to ask themselves whether they are actually changing their environment or simply blending in.

God Uses Imperfect Vessels

Addressing the objection that political candidates are not "Christian enough" or "Christ-like enough," Kirk argued that God consistently uses broken, imperfect people throughout scripture. He provided a lengthy list of biblical figures with serious flaws: Joseph, Job, Samson, Rahab, the Samaritan woman, Noah, Jeremiah, Jacob, David, Jonah, Naomi, Peter, Martha, Zacchaeus, and Paul—people who were adulterers, prostitutes, tax collectors, and persecutors of Christians.

Using Donald Trump as an example of a controversial political figure, Kirk clarified that he was not suggesting electing such a person to church leadership, but rather hiring someone who "knows how to fight" as a kind of bodyguard for religious freedom. He credited Trump with doing more for the unborn than almost any other president through his Supreme Court appointments of Kavanaugh, Amy Coney Barrett, and Gorsuch.

Kirk illustrated this point with the example of Samson, whom God used despite finding him in a prostitute's bed, enabling him to kill a thousand Philistines with the jawbone of a donkey and eventually earning a place in Hebrews' Hall of Faith. Similarly, Paul—who wrote most of the New Testament—had persecuted Christians before his conversion.

Responding to Eschatological Objections

Kirk addressed Christians who say Jesus is coming soon so political engagement doesn't matter. While acknowledging he doesn't know the timing of Christ's return, he argued that uncertainty about timing should never become an excuse for inaction. Instead, if believers truly think Jesus is coming soon, they should want to do more for His kingdom, not less, and should be even more determined to be salt and light.

The Unique Gift of American Citizenship

Kirk emphasized the unprecedented nature of American citizenship, where people are co-owners of their nation rather than serfs, slaves, or subjects. He highlighted the brilliance of the Constitution's structure: separation of powers, consent of the governed, and an independent judiciary. The ability to participate in elections, he argued, is something unique, beautiful, and unprecedented that demands Christian gratitude and engagement.

He cited Proverbs 14:34—"righteousness exalts a nation but sin is a reproach to my people"—as a reminder that Christians have a responsibility to communicate what righteousness means and how to glorify God in the public square.

A Call to Reject Apathy and Enter the Arena

In his closing appeal, Kirk described sensing something "seismic" developing across the country—from Pennsylvania to North Carolina, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, Oregon, and New York. But he emphasized this momentum would mean nothing if Christians remained mere spectators.

Kirk specifically praised New Mexico believers for their dedication despite being overlooked by national political organizations. He noted the fasting, praying, organizing, and fundraising happening in the state, and argued that if every person in the room brought three friends to the polls, the multiplication effect could shock the world.

His final call to action was for Christians to fulfill Jesus's commandment to be salt and light by changing their environment. He framed voting not as an extraordinary sacrifice like storming Normandy Beach, but as a simple duty that honors those who sacrificed for freedom and serves future generations.

Kirk concluded with an appeal to reject apathy and pessimism, to get into the arena, and to recognize that political engagement is ultimately about protecting the gospel and serving "the least of these." He challenged Christians to flood the polls on Election Day as a biblical duty, ending with a blessing over New Mexico.

[00:00] today I want to talk just broadly to the

[00:03] people watching on the live stream uh

[00:05] that might be out of state and also to

[00:07] all of you kind of how should we

[00:09] Christians think about what's about to

[00:11] happen on Tuesday should we involve

[00:13] ourselves should we just watch from afar

[00:16] should we be interested what does the

[00:19] Bible say about should we care about

[00:21] politics or not care about politics and

[00:24] the Bible says a lot about these things

[00:26] because there is a growing belief and I

[00:29] believe a growing heresy where people

[00:31] say Christians should not care at all

[00:33] about what's happening in government now

[00:35] we have to be very clear that Jesus

[00:37] needs to be the center of everything

[00:39] that we do Jesus at the center of it all

[00:41] Jesus is the way the truth and the life

[00:43] and there is nothing more important than

[00:45] giving your life to the Lord nothing

[00:48] now I always joke around I say that my

[00:51] day job is doing the second most

[00:53] important thing the most important thing

[00:55] is spreading Jesus to people all across

[00:57] the country in the world I do that as

[00:58] much as I can but the second thing is

[01:01] making sure we could do the first thing

[01:03] the second thing is making sure that

[01:05] churches don't get shut down arbitrarily

[01:07] the second most important thing is to

[01:09] making sure that we can continue to have

[01:11] church and have Christian schools and so

[01:13] as we look at what's happening into

[01:15] Tuesday I want to share a couple

[01:16] scriptures with you the first of which

[01:18] is Jeremiah 29 7. it says seek the

[01:21] welfare of the nation that you are in

[01:23] because your welfare is tied to your

[01:26] nation's welfare now that word seek

[01:28] could also be an English word of demand

[01:30] or require or say or go to your leaders

[01:34] and say you want it a certain way it's a

[01:37] Hebrew word I'm going to butcher the

[01:38] pronunciation of the drash meaning that

[01:41] you want to require it for your own

[01:43] well-being now that's a very clear

[01:45] teaching that's the Lord speaking in

[01:47] Jeremiah 29 7 Heaven that you should

[01:49] care about what's happening around you

[01:51] and I think all of us here and I

[01:53] obviously you live here and you know it

[01:54] New Mexico has some very serious

[01:56] problems right now I've been coming here

[01:58] for over 10 years and you could just see

[02:00] it just driving down Route 66 driving

[02:02] down Central it's not the place it was

[02:04] 10 years ago I mean there's always been

[02:06] problems obviously but this place is

[02:08] falling apart because the political

[02:10] leaders in the state have allowed it to

[02:12] fall apart for far too long and

[02:15] we need to have a heart for all people

[02:17] but when you know I'm driving down the

[02:19] street at eight o'clock in the morning

[02:20] and you see people that are doing hard

[02:22] drugs on the side of the street at 8 A.M

[02:25] in the open air you say that's the

[02:27] downfall of civil society and we as

[02:30] Christians should care about that so

[02:32] Jeremiah 29 7 is demand the welfare of

[02:34] the nation that you are and seek the

[02:36] welfare of the nation are you in require

[02:37] the welfare that should bother us that

[02:40] should concern us and so let's kind of

[02:41] talk about three issues though even

[02:43] Beyond kind of vagrancy homelessness

[02:45] drug use which is obviously really

[02:46] important that every Christian across

[02:49] the country should care about this

[02:51] coming Tuesday so I make the argument

[02:52] that you are biblically commanded to at

[02:55] least go and vote by Tuesday now who

[02:58] here has is going to vote on Tuesday

[03:00] raise your hand election day who's

[03:02] already voted raise your hand about half

[03:03] okay about 60 40. God bless those of you

[03:06] that have already voted I hope your vote

[03:07] counts those of you that are showing up

[03:09] on Election Day I'm an election day

[03:11] voter by the way I'm I'm a big believer

[03:13] in election day voting but I'm not going

[03:15] to scold you I'm not going to early

[03:16] voting is great because you got it out

[03:18] of the way you got it done right you

[03:20] don't want the lines maybe you have a

[03:21] job I totally respect that I think

[03:23] voting in person on Election Day is

[03:25] special I'm a big election I know some

[03:27] of you agree there's something really

[03:29] really magical about that but some

[03:31] people say Okay Charlie I'm in a vote

[03:32] I'm going to get maybe a friend or two

[03:34] to vote but how should I vote as a

[03:36] Christian now I'm going to talk less

[03:37] about political parties I'm going to

[03:39] talk less about that you guys can fill

[03:40] in the gaps I'm just going to tell you

[03:42] you have to vote biblically and there

[03:44] are three things that are literally on

[03:45] the ballot and it's not democracy on the

[03:48] ballot that we keep on hearing all the

[03:49] time no it's three things that are on

[03:51] the ballot that are so clear that affect

[03:54] our church

[03:55] that affect Christianity that affect our

[03:58] Viewpoint affect the gospel number one

[04:00] all of you lived through what I believe

[04:02] to be one of the most immoral

[04:05] unconstitutional Reckless

[04:08] campaigns of this governor recklessly

[04:12] and unconstitutionally shutting down the

[04:14] church and

[04:17] by the way this church led by Pastor

[04:20] Steve was heroic in its stand against

[04:22] the tyranny of this governor

[04:27] heroic now so what's on the ballot on

[04:31] Tuesday very simple New Mexico can send

[04:34] a message and say the church is

[04:36] essential in fact the church is more

[04:39] essential than strip clubs liquor stores

[04:42] Home Depot weed dispensaries and

[04:45] abortion clinics that's on the ballot on

[04:47] Tuesday it's that simple

[04:49] you might not have to like every other

[04:51] issue and we'll talk about what it will

[04:53] Charlie I don't like the candidate

[04:54] because that candidate is not as good of

[04:55] a person as I am we'll go through that

[04:57] okay because that is the root of a lot

[04:59] of people's complaints I'm a good person

[05:01] the candidate is not which I always find

[05:02] funny we're all Sinners okay we're all

[05:04] so far from God's glory so we'll talk

[05:07] about that in a second so number one is

[05:09] the church is essential and this

[05:11] Governor I I mean this with no every

[05:13] time I can't remember her name it's kind

[05:15] of like a running joke because why she

[05:17] doesn't have a name worth remembering

[05:19] that's why because she has recklessly

[05:21] gone after the church and so arrogantly

[05:24] and I think well I'll get to what I

[05:25] think is going to happen but okay

[05:27] essential Church number one the church

[05:30] is and they always say that you know

[05:32] separation of church and state how often

[05:34] have we heard that right okay that's not

[05:36] in the Constitution that's not the

[05:38] Federalist Papers it's not the

[05:39] Declaration of Independence it was a

[05:40] single letter that Thomas Jefferson

[05:42] wrote to the Danbury Baptist convention

[05:44] actually guaranteeing the church that

[05:47] the church would not be persecuted by

[05:48] the government but let's pray pretend

[05:50] that was the law of the land okay let's

[05:52] pretend that is actually what stands in

[05:54] our country

[05:55] then why is it if we have separation of

[05:58] church and state why is it that this

[06:00] governor and the New Mexico government

[06:02] was able to shut down the church I

[06:04] thought they're supposed to be separate

[06:06] oh wait hold on the government can come

[06:08] into the church but Christians aren't

[06:10] allowed to go into government no no what

[06:12] they're trying to say is they want to be

[06:13] able to control us but they don't want

[06:15] Christians to have a say in government

[06:16] that's what they say that's what they're

[06:18] saying when they when they communicate

[06:20] that

[06:21] the second thing is this and I've been

[06:23] very outspoken on this issue and it kind

[06:25] of drives people a little wild but it

[06:27] shouldn't

[06:28] I know it's very controversial we as The

[06:30] Church Must send a message that men

[06:32] cannot become pregnant and God created

[06:34] man and God created woman

[06:37] not that hard

[06:41] this idea of 500 genders and all this

[06:44] nonsense it is a direct perversion of

[06:48] the natural law but maybe you believe

[06:49] that okay fine you could have that

[06:52] belief we live in a you know pluralistic

[06:54] society then how about this you never

[06:57] teach it to a child in a public school

[06:59] in the state of New Mexico okay can we

[07:02] all agree with that

[07:05] so you can say what you want you can

[07:07] have all these different goofy beliefs

[07:08] fine the line is our children

[07:10] when all of a sudden you're teaching

[07:11] eight-year-olds ten-year-olds 11 year

[07:13] olds 12 year olds that they could choose

[07:15] their gender and you have these

[07:16] incredibly aggressive irreversible

[07:18] medical interventions where we are

[07:21] medically mutilating tens of thousands

[07:23] and soon to be hundreds of thousands of

[07:24] children across the country we have to

[07:26] draw the line and say we are not going

[07:28] to put up with this and when you see the

[07:30] pornography in our schools you see this

[07:32] graphic nature to say you know what our

[07:35] children are off limits we as the church

[07:36] must be screaming that from the rooftops

[07:39] and that that is a non-negotiable Okay

[07:42] the third

[07:43] the third thing is I'm told by people

[07:45] all the time Charlie this is a losing

[07:46] issue stop talking about it it's not

[07:48] worth it and you know what that might be

[07:50] right in certain circles I don't care

[07:54] because it's a very simple issue life

[07:56] begins at conception and every single

[07:58] life needs to be protected and preserved

[08:01] in the womb period

[08:03] now

[08:05] why why why do we believe that as

[08:07] Christians yes in the Psalms it says

[08:09] you're fearfully and wonderfully made

[08:11] and Jeremiah says I knew you before you

[08:13] were in the womb

[08:15] it says that John the Baptist leapt in

[08:18] Elizabeth's womb at this just the sound

[08:21] of our savior there's all sorts of

[08:22] different verses that talk about how

[08:24] that is a life fearfully and wonderfully

[08:27] made but it's even deeper than that we

[08:28] are made in the image of God we are the

[08:31] speaking beings God spoke things into

[08:32] existence we have a soul you are only

[08:35] temporarily occupying this body you have

[08:38] a soul that will live forever a soul

[08:40] that will go to heaven therefore if you

[08:42] believe human beings have souls you

[08:44] believe that that human being is worthy

[08:46] of protection but if you believe a human

[08:49] being is an accident of darwinian

[08:51] evolution if you think the human being

[08:53] just kind of randomly came into

[08:54] existence why wouldn't you be able just

[08:56] to crush a million babies a year it's an

[08:59] inconvenience but when all of a sudden

[09:01] you look at that as a soul and someone

[09:03] that is equally a human being is you

[09:05] your own convenience actually isn't as

[09:08] important as their life as their Liberty

[09:11] as their future because you're dealing

[09:13] with somebody that has the same type of

[09:14] soul that you have that's what we mean

[09:16] as human equality by the way it's not

[09:19] equal High equal Talent equal weight

[09:21] equal wealth equal riches no no it's

[09:23] that we're the same type of thing we're

[09:25] both human beings made in the image of

[09:27] God and we need equal protection under

[09:30] the law and right now I think you can

[09:32] all feel it at times the spiritual

[09:33] darkness and pressure that plagues this

[09:35] city in this region because this is the

[09:37] late term abortion capital of the world

[09:40] and I think that could be changed I

[09:43] really do I think that through a

[09:45] committed church with a vision without a

[09:47] vision people perish we must expose the

[09:50] evil Deeds as it says in Ephesians 5 2.

[09:53] and so what is on the ballot this

[09:54] Tuesday that the church is essential

[09:57] that God created man and woman and we

[09:59] will not teach our children anything

[10:00] other than that and that life begins at

[10:03] conception if we as the church cannot

[10:05] agree on those three things then we got

[10:07] a lot deeper problems the church is

[10:09] essential lighting is a conception God

[10:11] created man and woman now we can all

[10:13] agree on that but I'm sure there's

[10:14] someone in this audience and I could

[10:16] just see them they have their arms

[10:17] crossed and they're looking at me and

[10:18] they say Charlie what is the point of me

[10:21] voting if my vote is going to be stolen

[10:23] okay this is be very fairly I'm going to

[10:26] be very nice but this is Pastor Steve's

[10:28] church so I could be a little bit more

[10:29] forthright

[10:30] um

[10:31] which is that is the dumbest thing I've

[10:33] heard in quite some time okay let me be

[10:35] very clear you have a zero percent

[10:36] chance of saving the Republic by not

[10:38] voting zero percent I fully acknowledge

[10:41] that your vote might be shredded and

[10:42] teared away but if you vote at least you

[10:44] have some chance of it counting not

[10:46] voting is basically acknowledging that

[10:49] the enemy has won and that you're not

[10:51] showing up now I hear I hear all the

[10:53] wackiest excuses you could imagine from

[10:54] people right some people say well

[10:56] Charlie I can't show up and vote because

[10:59] I don't have enough time or I don't I

[11:01] say hold on it's not enough time you

[11:03] know I just drove by a Starbucks as I

[11:05] came in here uh into Albuquerque and I

[11:07] mean I was looking at people that were

[11:09] sitting and waiting 20 minutes for a

[11:12] Frappuccino and you know you go to the

[11:15] McDonald's line they wait 15 minutes to

[11:16] go get diabetes and increase their

[11:18] chance of heart disease and I think to

[11:20] myself okay you can wait very patiently

[11:23] for something that will decrease your

[11:25] life expectancy but you can't go wait in

[11:28] line or you can't go vote early for 10

[11:30] to 20 minutes to go fill out a piece of

[11:32] paper to go save the Republic yeah

[11:34] that's a really bad excuse by the way

[11:36] that's the worst excuse well I don't

[11:37] have time by the way you know that the

[11:40] you know the idea of the narrative I

[11:41] don't have time it's not important you

[11:42] know that's the enemy

[11:44] that's the enemy whispering in your ear

[11:46] like I'll go get another cheeseburger

[11:48] and finally I'm not against

[11:48] cheeseburgers I'm very Pro cheeseburger

[11:50] okay but I'm more pro-voting than I am

[11:52] cheeseburger let's be very clear okay by

[11:54] the way get a cheeseburger after you

[11:56] vote and that's fine okay

[11:58] but the point is this if every Christian

[12:00] in the state of New Mexico showed up and

[12:02] voted biblically in just a couple hours

[12:04] from now that Governor will be displaced

[12:07] from Power overnight

[12:09] it's that simple

[12:12] the math is there now we must look at

[12:15] the scriptures right James 4 17 for

[12:18] whoever knows the right thing to do and

[12:21] fails to do it for him it is to sin

[12:23] that's a very clear teaching you now

[12:26] know the right thing to do is to go vote

[12:28] and failing to do that I believe is

[12:31] rebelling against God I'm not asking you

[12:33] to go storm Normandy Beach I'm not

[12:35] asking you to go pull an all-nighter

[12:36] basically I'm saying is for everyone in

[12:38] the audience is just to show up and fill

[12:40] out a piece of paper and even better go

[12:42] bring three friends go bring five

[12:43] friends go take out your phone and text

[12:45] 10 people and nag them have you voted

[12:47] have you voted have you voted have you

[12:48] voted have you voted have you voted

[12:50] because the only way that you're ever to

[12:52] get this back into alignment is through

[12:53] people showing up and you know what's so

[12:55] amazing at times the most stubborn

[12:57] people when it comes to voting are

[12:58] Christians it's amazing do you know that

[13:01] only half of regular everyday Church

[13:03] attending Christians vote in midterm

[13:05] elections only half the secular world is

[13:08] at 56 so the secular World actually

[13:11] shows up more than Christians I think

[13:12] part of it honestly is because most

[13:14] churches aren't like this church and

[13:16] they're not being told by their Pastor

[13:17] that you got to go do the thing on

[13:19] Election Day and you got to go vote

[13:20] because they say oh what difference does

[13:22] it make I could tell you what difference

[13:23] it makes the difference is having a

[13:25] governor that won't shut you down the

[13:27] difference is when for example I can

[13:29] tell you're about to see a very big

[13:30] difference because I think Arizona is

[13:31] about to elect Kerry Lake and I think

[13:33] it's going to be one of the most amazing

[13:35] things you're going to see

[13:37] makes a big difference now we must

[13:40] understand there's all these different

[13:41] types of Ministries out there right

[13:43] there's the music Ministry there is

[13:45] cultural impact Ministries there are

[13:47] prison fellowship Ministries and drug

[13:49] rehabilitation Ministries and men's

[13:51] Ministries and praise God for all of

[13:52] them right we are called to be Salt and

[13:54] Light as Jesus said you are the salt of

[13:55] the earth but if the salt has lost its

[13:57] taste how shall it be saltiness be

[13:59] restored how shall its saltiness be

[14:01] restored it is no longer good for

[14:03] anything except to be thrown out and

[14:05] Trampled Under people's feet Jesus

[14:06] continued by saying you are the light of

[14:08] the world the city set on a hill cannot

[14:10] be hidden nor do people light a lamp and

[14:12] put it under a basket but on a stand and

[14:14] it gives light to all in the house in

[14:16] the same way let your light shine before

[14:18] others so that they may see your good

[14:20] works and give glory to your father who

[14:22] is in heaven what do Salt and Light have

[14:24] in common they change the environment

[14:26] that they come in contact with

[14:28] salt makes something saltier and changes

[14:30] it makes it more preserved forever light

[14:33] excommunicates the darkness makes it

[14:34] easier for people to flourish the

[14:36] question is are we being Salt and Light

[14:38] are we changing the environment that we

[14:40] are put in right now that's a mission

[14:42] right now it is a mission in the state

[14:44] of New Mexico

[14:46] to bring it back into alignment to try

[14:48] to reduce the crime to try to protect

[14:50] those that can't protect themselves and

[14:51] I had somebody the other day said oh

[14:52] Charlie what is the point why even do

[14:54] this anymore I'll tell you why we're

[14:56] fighting for the girl that got illegally

[14:57] sex trafficked across the border last

[14:59] night we're fighting for the person

[15:00] that's going to overdose on fentanyl in

[15:02] Farmington we're talk we're fighting for

[15:04] the kid that's about to you know consume

[15:06] pornography in the public schools here

[15:08] in Albuquerque Public Schools we're not

[15:10] going to put up with that because we

[15:11] fight for the least of these in our

[15:13] society and we're not going to all of a

[15:15] sudden roll over and be cynical and

[15:16] apathetic because we're told that

[15:18] there's a small chance of victory

[15:21] so if you're disheartened John 16 33 to

[15:24] those who are disheartened by the

[15:25] trouble in the world we tell them to

[15:26] take heart because Jesus has overcome

[15:28] the world now we as Christians must

[15:30] remember Jesus has won the battle that

[15:33] should make us go into this with joy and

[15:36] optimism not with kind of negativity and

[15:39] pessimism that should make us want to do

[15:41] more for those around us not less and

[15:44] this is the cool thing it's very simple

[15:46] what has to be done next couple days but

[15:48] some people say Charlie Jesus wasn't

[15:50] political okay Jesus he never really

[15:53] liked politics I just do the gospel I do

[15:55] evangelism I don't care about what

[15:58] happens politically now I talked about

[16:00] how the church could be closed down but

[16:01] I ask a question can anyone tell me in

[16:04] these 66 books of the Bible the word of

[16:06] God can anyone find an example in

[16:07] scripture where God encourages us to

[16:09] ignore what's happening in the world

[16:12] around us

[16:13] can anyone find a scripture where Jesus

[16:15] told us to retreat from the evil he

[16:17] tells us to lean into it and to be not

[16:20] afraid you see in a time when you look

[16:22] at the odds against you is it the time

[16:24] to go just kind of cower and act as if

[16:26] you have nothing to say or is it that we

[16:28] now have the word of God and we have the

[16:31] wind at our back and we have momentum

[16:33] we're going to do more than ever before

[16:34] you see how many election Cycles have we

[16:36] heard of people say oh this is New

[16:38] Mexico there's no chance we have no

[16:41] opportunity this state is not a majorly

[16:44] populated state as you well know

[16:45] therefore every single one of you that

[16:47] vote your vote actually matters more

[16:49] especially those of you that might not

[16:51] vote on a regular basis as Matt as Jesus

[16:53] said in Matthew 28 19 go therefore and

[16:56] Make Disciples of all Nations baptizing

[16:59] them in the name of the Father the Son

[17:00] and the Holy Spirit disciples not only

[17:03] converts of all Nations and discipleship

[17:05] goes deep and disciples care about the

[17:08] welfare of the nation that you are in we

[17:10] all are called to be Disciples of Christ

[17:12] and by the way I I'm not saying politics

[17:14] should be the only thing you care about

[17:15] my only ask is to make it something

[17:18] important on the list and it's not the

[17:20] most important thing every single day

[17:21] it's not the thing that you should only

[17:23] care about but you know Daniel fasted

[17:25] and prayed for his Nation Esther

[17:26] Mordecai Jeremiah Nehemiah were all

[17:29] looking to influence secular government

[17:31] for God's purpose maybe it's time for

[17:33] the church and for Christians to retake

[17:35] our role as counselor to the king of

[17:38] this nation

[17:41] now some people say well Charlie look

[17:43] our Godless government is so wicked it's

[17:46] so terrible and by the way living in New

[17:48] Mexico I could see why you would come to

[17:50] that conclusion okay Proverbs 14 34

[17:53] righteousness exalts a nation but sin is

[17:56] a reproach to my people so we have to

[17:58] communicate what is righteousness what

[18:00] is glorify God in the same way can we

[18:02] facilitate the opposite though because

[18:04] then some people say well Charlie the

[18:06] people on the ballot they're not

[18:08] Christian enough for me you see I'm a

[18:09] very good person I go to midweek service

[18:12] I go to Monday morning prayer I fast and

[18:15] pray for my nation I tithe I'm a good

[18:17] person the person running for office is

[18:19] not now that's a very silly argument but

[18:22] you know how often I hear that from

[18:23] people oh that candidate isn't

[18:25] christ-like okay by the way let's just

[18:28] use an example of a random politician

[18:30] that people don't like

[18:31] um Donald Trump how about that okay so

[18:33] people say I don't like him he's not

[18:35] christ-like you know he shatters glass

[18:37] and all this he's a narcissistic he go

[18:39] test all this I've heard it all I say

[18:40] okay well look you could say all those

[18:42] different things I'm not saying we

[18:44] should elect him to the Elder Board of

[18:45] Legacy church

[18:47] if anyone wants to make that contention

[18:49] you guys can talk to Pastor Steve about

[18:52] that that would be an interesting

[18:53] recommendation but here's what I will

[18:55] say he's a bodyguard and he knows how to

[18:57] fight and when you hire a bodyguard you

[18:59] want someone to win now I'm not here to

[19:01] talk about Trump but I am here to kind

[19:03] of qualify something a broken vessel

[19:05] that we all are he lived a very colorful

[19:07] life did more for The Unborn than almost

[19:10] any other president in American history

[19:12] with Kavanaugh Amy Coney Barrett and

[19:14] Gorsuch and putting them on the United

[19:16] States Supreme Court

[19:18] now you look throughout the Bible God

[19:21] used Broken Vessels for his purpose

[19:22] Joseph job Samson Rahab the Samaritan

[19:26] woman Noah Jeremiah Jacob David Jonah

[19:29] Naomi Peter Martha Zacchaeus and Paul

[19:31] all throughout the scriptures our

[19:33] example after example of people that

[19:35] were adulterers that were prostitutes

[19:37] people that were Tax Collectors people

[19:39] that persecuted Christians and guess

[19:40] what God had a plan for them despite

[19:43] their sins and so they say well Charlie

[19:45] I don't like this candidate this

[19:47] candidate isn't for me I say if God can

[19:49] use Samson Who Came Upon him in a

[19:52] prostitute's bed and then use the jaw of

[19:54] a donkey to kill a thousand Philistines

[19:55] to end up in the Hall of faith in

[19:57] Hebrews if he can use Paul who wrote the

[19:59] most of the New Testament who persecuted

[20:02] Christians he can use an imperfect

[20:04] vessel to go fight for righteousness

[20:06] fight for The Unborn in government and

[20:09] that is what we need to look and that's

[20:10] how we need to look at this you see what

[20:13] I'm asking you is to understand the

[20:15] Gratitude of the gift we have been given

[20:17] which is the greatest nation ever ever

[20:19] to exist in the history of the world the

[20:20] founding fathers were so clear in the

[20:22] structure and the promise of our

[20:24] government separation of power is

[20:25] consent to the governed independent

[20:27] Judiciary you see the fact we have an

[20:28] election is an amazing thing the fact

[20:32] you are a citizen and not a surf not a

[20:34] Slave

[20:35] the fact that you are or a subject the

[20:38] fact you're a citizen someone that is a

[20:39] co-owner of your nation the fact that

[20:41] you are able to actually participate in

[20:43] these elections is something so unique

[20:45] so beautiful so unprecedented and so the

[20:49] question is do we as Christians care

[20:50] about that now some Christians will say

[20:51] well Charlie Jesus is coming next

[20:54] Thursday so I don't really care about

[20:56] who's going to win and by the way you

[20:58] might be right I Think Jesus is coming

[21:00] whether Jesus is coming soon or coming

[21:03] not so soon as all just kind of our own

[21:05] human interpretation of time but Jesus

[21:06] will be coming

[21:07] but the question is is that an excuse

[21:09] not to vote Jesus said the time and the

[21:12] hour is unknown are we going to allow

[21:15] our eschatology to all of a sudden be an

[21:18] excuse for not us not to trying to

[21:19] better the world around us no the

[21:21] opposite if you think Jesus is coming

[21:23] soon you should be wanting to do more

[21:25] for his kingdom and actually spread the

[21:27] message more not less and be more of

[21:30] Salt and Light so let me kind of tie all

[21:32] this together and close this as what I'm

[21:34] seeing in the country but first let me

[21:35] make a very Shameless plug as a way you

[21:37] guys could support us I forgot to do

[21:39] this in the first

[21:40] um in the first service if you guys want

[21:41] to get more of our commentary two things

[21:43] on Tuesday evening we are going to be

[21:46] streaming live on our uh live stream on

[21:48] rumble on YouTube we're going to have

[21:50] tons of followers if you want very

[21:52] biased election commentary that's going

[21:55] to be cheering for the house and the

[21:57] Senate to be flipped and also that

[21:58] understands the data I fully acknowledge

[22:00] it'll be very biased but it will be true

[22:02] and it'll be fun why do I say this

[22:04] because you go watch the news they say

[22:05] oh we're unbiased you're the most biased

[22:07] person ever I own my bias I want the

[22:10] people that want to medically mutilate

[22:12] our children to lose terribly on Tuesday

[22:13] and you should too so I'm very biased in

[22:15] that way but I do encourage you guys if

[22:18] you guys could take out your phone and

[22:19] subscribe to our podcast it does bless

[22:21] us I ask every time I come here some of

[22:23] you guys do it it really does help us

[22:25] out it's a QR code if you don't know

[22:27] what a QR code is I saw an

[22:28] eight-year-old around here

[22:30] um or you could just independently

[22:32] you could independently open up your

[22:34] podcast app and type in Charlie Kirk

[22:36] show it blesses me immensely thank you

[22:38] thank you thank you it's a way to us

[22:40] push back against the Silicon Valley

[22:41] sensors and thank you for all of you

[22:43] that listen to our show we work very

[22:45] very hard on our show it really does

[22:47] bless us so thank you so let me close

[22:49] with this

[22:50] and by the way we've been going non-stop

[22:52] I've been in like 15 states in the last

[22:54] seven days seven days it's been a very

[22:56] long month this week we were in Florida

[22:58] we've been all over the place

[23:00] really going hard campaigning for

[23:02] candidates with the work that Turning

[23:03] Point action is doing but this is

[23:05] actually the last speech I'm giving

[23:07] of the entire cycle the last one at a

[23:09] church and I've wanted it to be here in

[23:11] New Mexico because I love the underdog

[23:13] and I actually I think that

[23:16] I think that New Mexico has not received

[23:19] the love you guys deserve because so

[23:21] many of you guys are fighting so hard

[23:22] you're fasting and praying you're

[23:24] organizing your precincts you're raising

[23:25] money you're doing the things that are

[23:27] necessary and kind of the national

[23:29] Republican snobs as I call them they all

[23:31] you know New Mexico's a waste of time

[23:33] it's all that's like no I see how much

[23:35] you guys care about your home when we

[23:37] have these events together when you ask

[23:38] the questions and how much you care

[23:40] about your education you look at the

[23:41] room around you of every single person

[23:43] here brought three friends to the polls

[23:45] on Tuesday the multiplication effect

[23:47] could just shock the entire world and so

[23:50] what I am asking here is for every

[23:52] Christian watching at home for every

[23:54] single person here in this audience is

[23:55] in this short window to fulfill Jesus's

[23:58] commandment of being Salt and Light to

[24:01] change the environment that you are in

[24:02] because boy there would be a lot of

[24:04] changing of this environment that you

[24:06] are in New Mexico because we've been

[24:07] given this on it is Incredible Gift of

[24:11] the United States Constitution that was

[24:12] not written for the times but written to

[24:14] stand the test of time and we as

[24:16] Americans citizens we can make a choice

[24:18] we can make a choice just to kind of be

[24:20] Spectators and sit around and I know a

[24:22] lot of you here have said Charlie I'm

[24:24] tired of hearing this I've done

[24:25] everything that you've asked me to do I

[24:27] watched Tucker Carlson

[24:29] I bought the pillow I've done everything

[24:31] that you've asked me to do by the way

[24:33] promo code Kirk mypillow.com just so

[24:35] we're clear okay

[24:38] I'm not asking you to storm Normandy

[24:40] Beach I'm not asking you to go you know

[24:42] pull an all-nighter as I said previously

[24:44] instead it's a call to action on Tuesday

[24:46] and I'm telling you I can start to feel

[24:48] the ground rumbling I can feel it from

[24:51] Pennsylvania to North Carolina to

[24:54] Michigan to Wisconsin to Arizona to

[24:57] Oregon to New York there's something

[24:59] seismic that is developing coming on

[25:02] Tuesday but guess what none of that will

[25:04] happen if we are just a spectator buying

[25:06] relief Factor on television by the way

[25:08] great product okay instead it's going to

[25:11] happen if the citizen you the American

[25:13] Church you the Christian you does

[25:16] something more heading into Tuesday

[25:18] reject apathy you reject pessimism you

[25:21] get into the arena you say you know what

[25:23] people that came before me sacrificed so

[25:26] much so I can live in a free Society

[25:27] it's not about me it's about our kids

[25:30] about our grandkids it's about the

[25:32] gospel and that is being Salt and Light

[25:34] to a nation that needs it flood the

[25:36] polls on Tuesday it's your biblical duty

[25:39] to do so God bless New Mexico and thank

[25:41] you guys for having me thank you so much
