Charlie Kirk is the Founder and President of Turning Point USA, the largest and fastest growing conservative youth activist organization in the country with over 250,000 student members, over 150 full-time staff, and a presence on over 2,000 high school and college campuses nationwide. Charlie is also the Chairman of Students for Trump, which aims to activate one million new college voters on campuses in battleground states in the lead up to the 2020 presidential election. His social media reaches over 100 million people per month and according to Axios, he is one of the "top 10 most engaged" Twitter handles in the world. He is also the host of “The Charlie Kirk Show,” which regularly ranks among the top news shows on Apple podcast charts.
Charlie Kirk Reveals What the DNC Refused to Mention and Why Democrats Had to Lie About Their True Beliefs
Charlie Kirk breaks down the 2024 Democratic National Convention and exposes the glaring disconnect between what Democrats showcase on stage versus their actual legislative record. From hiding their radical policies on immigration and crime to avoiding mentions of their landmark bills, Kirk argues the DNC's carefully orchestrated production reveals something critical: Democrats know America remains a center-right country. The absence of pride flags, the silence on defunding police, and Gavin Newsom's notable lack of a speaking slot all signal that wokeism is dying even within the Democratic Party. Kirk contrasts this theatrical performance with the authenticity of the Republican National Convention and explains why the left's need to lie should actually boost conservative morale.
Charlie Kirk watched approximately 75% of the Democratic National Convention and immediately noticed a striking pattern: Democrats worked overtime to present themselves as center-right conservatives. Outside of their relentless focus on abortion—an issue where public opinion leans in their favor—the entire convention seemed designed to hide what Democrats actually believe and legislate.
The production quality was undeniable. Kirk gives credit where it's due, noting that the roll call segment looked objectively great, resembling a Netflix or Hulu special more than a political convention. But beneath the polished surface lay a deliberate strategy to obscure the Democratic Party's true agenda from the American people.
What Democrats Refused to Discuss
Kirk highlights a comprehensive list of topics conspicuously absent from DNC speeches. Democrats didn't mention their landmark legislative achievements. They avoided discussing free luxury hotels provided to illegals and foreigners in New York. The Inflation Reduction Act went unmentioned. Tim Walz's signing of taxpayer-funded tuition for illegals in Minnesota never came up.
The convention went very light on Black Lives Matter, critical race theory, and affirmative action. They barely touched on book bans before quickly moving on. Squatters, crime in the streets, and how cities like San Francisco, Chicago, and Los Angeles have deteriorated into what Kirk describes as third-world conditions—all absent from the stage.
In private, Kirk notes, the Democratic base demands extremely radical things, and the legislative calendar reflects those demands with amnesty for illegals and benefits for foreigners. But on stage, they had to present themselves as something entirely different.
Why Democrats Had to Lie—And Why That's Good News
Kirk emphasizes a counterintuitive point: it's actually a good thing that Democrats had to lie. Yes, they were lying about who they are and what they believe. But the necessity of that lie reveals something important about the American electorate.
If Democrats actually showed the country who they were without filter, it would mean the population is so far gone that there would be no reason to pretend to be anything but radical Marxist revolutionaries. The lying is expected, but it means Democrats know their audience. It means they understand America remains a center-right country.
If they were speaking just to San Francisco liberals, the convention would have been entirely about trans rights and human rights. Kirk asks a pointed question: did anyone see LGBT flags? Maybe two or three at most. You can't walk into a Starbucks, Target, or Walgreens in June without seeing gay flags everywhere, yet at the once-every-four-years convention of the Democratic Party, they were nowhere to be found.
The Democrat Hive Mind on Full Display
Democrats managed this careful curation because it was a made-for-television production—the Grammys, the Emmys, the Oscars on full display. They know their audience, and that demonstrates conservatives are actually the majority in this country.
Everyone participated in waving American flags they actually hate because the Democrat hive mind dictates compliance. Got the ninth booster? Check. Wear the mask when we shower? Check. Not a single independent thought amongst them because it's all about power and stopping Trump.
If Democrats had leaned into their radical positions, if they had showcased who they actually are, it would have been demoralizing for conservatives. It would signal that Democrats feel they don't have to win anyone over, that they can power through with the most radical, out-of-touch policies imaginable. Instead, their carefully managed presentation means conservatives can win elections regardless of how flawed they are. It proves Democrats know they're in the ideological minority.
The Contrast With the Republican National Convention
Kirk draws a stark contrast between the two conventions. Republicans are exactly who they were on stage as they are offstage. Donald Trump said it plainly: deportation, build the wall, drill baby drill. Democrats are completely different because the body politic of this country—the regular everyday American—is not a radical leftist, and smart Democrats know this.
So they created a television special to show someone they're not. It would have been demoralizing if they had paraded their most radical stuff imaginable as if running for mayor of San Francisco or New York. Instead, they made themselves seem like moderate Republicans, which shows they understand what they believe is completely out of touch with the American people.
The Man Who Didn't Speak: Gavin Newsom's Absence
Further evidence of this strategy comes from who didn't speak at the DNC. Gavin Newsom, the California governor everyone thought would be the heir apparent to the presidency, did not receive a main stage address. He got a handheld mic during the roll call segment and said a few words about California loving Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, then they moved on.
AOC received a speaking slot, but Newsom didn't. Why? There's only so much radicalism the DNC can present to the American people. It's a good thing they had to hide their true believers.
The Radical Policies Democrats Couldn't Say Out loud
Kirk imagines what an honest DNC would have sounded like. Speakers would have said: "We as the Democrat Party believe that babies are not male or female but their sex is assigned at birth"—a stated belief of the Democratic Party. "We believe that if you mispronounce someone's pronouns you should be imprisoned"—another stated belief. "We believe we should defund the police"—yet another stated position.
Instead, they had a nonstop parade of police officers in uniform, including what Kirk describes as a nauseating speech from a Flint, Michigan officer. They featured former Republicans like Adam Kinzinger, Leon Panetta, Stephanie Grisham, and another woman who worked for Mike Pence. They passed around American flags, something they would never do if they were the actual majority in this country.
Wokeism Is Dying at the DNC
The DNC shows on full display that wokeism is already dying within the Democratic Party itself. Democrats are high-trust of institutions—they don't ask questions, they're not skeptical of power, they love political power. Republicans used to be this way 20 years ago, but no longer.
The Low-Trust Coalition Forming Around Trump
On the other side stands Donald Trump, whose entire movement is built on voters with low trust of institutions. They ask: Why is our border open? Why are we fighting all these wars? What's going on with the economy? They're lying about jobs data, inflation data, COVID information.
RFK is even further along the low-trust spectrum than Trump. He's the most low-trust-of-institutions candidate currently running, the one who says everything health agencies tell you is wrong, that these are captured agencies, that the current configuration of how we administer vaccines is completely flawed.
RFK and Donald Trump have a natural partnership because they're both skeptical of major power centers in this country. They have the same enemies, both want a strong America, and both view the world similarly: the powerful, rich, and well-connected need checks and balances. Both want to see a citizen resurgence and revival, not an oligarchy—which is what team blue and Kamala Harris currently believe in.
