FBI Targeted 92 Republican Groups Including Turning Point USA in Operation Arctic Frost Investigation

September 18, 2025

Unclassified FBI documents reveal Operation Arctic Frost, a controversial investigation launched in April 2022 that targeted 92 Republican-linked groups and individuals, including Turning Point USA, the Republican National Committee, and Trump-affiliated PACs. What federal officials billed as a national security investigation now appears to be a systematic surveillance operation against political opponents. The investigation, led by FBI agent Timothy Thibault across 13 field offices, raises fundamental questions about government overreach and the weaponization of federal power against American citizens. With FBI insiders revealing that every agent was ordered to prioritize political investigations over human trafficking, organized crime, and fentanyl cases, the scope of bureaucratic corruption becomes clear.

Operation Arctic Frost Exposed

Unclassified FBI documents have revealed a sweeping investigation called Operation Arctic Frost that targeted 92 Republican-linked groups and individuals. The operation, which began in April 2022 and continued for approximately half the year, included the Republican National Committee, Trump-affiliated PACs, and Turning Point USA among its targets.

What federal officials characterized as a national security investigation now appears to be something far more troubling: a coordinated effort to surveil and investigate political opponents of the sitting administration. The documents show that Arctic Frost served as a vehicle for partisan FBI agents and Department of Justice prosecutors to investigate the entire Republican political apparatus.

The Scope of Political Surveillance

The investigation was broad and far-reaching, spanning multiple states throughout the country. FBI agent Timothy Thibault, known for his anti-Trump positions, led the operation across 13 field offices. The target list included numerous Trump-related organizations and extended to anyone considered a political opponent.

Among the organizations explicitly listed in the documents were Turning Point USA, alongside references to "J6 money" and various other conservative entities. This classification meant these organizations and individuals could be investigated and surveilled by the federal government under the guise of national security concerns.

Timeline of Political Targeting

The operation's timing raises significant concerns. Operation Arctic Frost launched in spring 2022, coinciding with preparations for the next presidential election cycle when President Trump was positioning for a political comeback and the Biden administration faced declining poll numbers.

However, this investigation represents just one chapter in a years-long pattern of political targeting:

  • In the two years following January 6, Democratic committees, empowered by figures like Liz Cheney, conducted extensive questioning of Republican-connected individuals in basement rooms of the Capitol
  • People with no connection to the January 6 riot were hauled in for questioning, not about illegal activity, but about fundraising sources and GOP financing
  • From 2017-2021, the FBI under James Comey pursued various actions to undermine the Trump administration, including raids on homes of former administration members
  • By 2022, this represented the sixth consecutive year of coordinated efforts between the FBI and Democratic operatives to attack and undermine Trump

The Real Motivation Behind Investigation

The pattern becomes clearer when considering what happened after Trump returned to power: he discovered the original documents exposing these operations. He found the receipts for all the misdeeds committed by federal agencies against political opponents.

The entire strategy appears to have been predicated on preventing Trump from ever returning to power. If he had been imprisoned or permanently barred from office, the thinking went, another Republican administration might simply allow these activities to go unpunished rather than pursue accountability.

Christopher Wray's FBI and Jack Smith

This investigation occurred under FBI Director Christopher Wray's leadership, with Special Counsel Jack Smith playing a central role. These names represent what some consider the greatest hits of partisan actors on the political left during this period.

Current discoveries continue to reveal the extent of the problem. Officials like Tulsi Gabbard have reported finding classified documents hidden in burn bags and deep closets within various administrations. If this represents only what has been uncovered so far, despite efforts to destroy evidence, the full scope of lawlessness may never be fully known.

Whistleblowers continue to come forward, providing evidence of wrongdoing. Their courage in exposing these activities offers hope that accountability might still be possible.

Systemic Corruption in Federal Bureaucracy

The revelation validates concerns long dismissed as conspiracy theories. A thoroughly corrupt bureaucratic system has been operating within federal agencies, though this does not mean every individual within that system is corrupt. Many frontline people in the bureaucracy remain good people who want to do the right thing.

However, the apparatus itself functions like a pirate ship filled with pirates who resist any attempts at reform from above. Tens of thousands of people have been trained within this system for so long that they consider these political investigations acceptable. They willingly participated in surveilling and investigating 92 Republican-linked groups years after an election, treating this extraordinary overreach as routine.

Deep structural reform is necessary. This requires removing tens of thousands of people from these positions. The scope of the problem demands nothing less than a complete housecleaning of corrupt elements within federal law enforcement.

Threat to Average Americans

This issue extends far beyond DC elites, super PACs, or political organizations. The weaponization of the federal government of the world's biggest superpower poses real risks to ordinary citizens.

During the Biden administration, the FBI expanded its targeting to include everyday Americans:

  • A father who defended his child at a pro-life rally had his house raided with guns drawn by federal agents
  • When local Pennsylvania attorneys, even those who were politically left-leaning and largely anti-Catholic, refused to prosecute certain cases, federal agents swooped in to take over
  • Grandmothers were imprisoned for crossing boundaries the left had established about where Americans are allowed to pray
  • People with no connection whatsoever to January 6 were arrested simply for being Christian Americans

This represents more than political overreach—it threatens the stability of the country. When one side believes it does not need to respect or abide by laws, while the other side that always followed the rules no longer believes those laws can protect them, the nation reaches a dangerous boiling point.

Can the FBI Reform Itself

The question of whether the FBI can fix itself looms large. Regardless of who leads these agencies or departments, they face a task of mythic proportions—cleaning the Augean stables, as the ancient Greek tale describes. Hercules accomplished this by changing the course of a river to wash away centuries of accumulated filth. Modern reformers must find their own way to cleanse these institutions.

In the case of Kash Patel as FBI director, supporters and critics alike recognize the magnitude of the challenge. Scrutiny from all sides, including the right, is appropriate and necessary. The American people deserve to know the plan for how the FBI will move forward and transform itself so these abuses never happen again.

The Path Forward

Reform requires utilizing the resources already within the system—specifically, the agents who worked inside and witnessed the corruption firsthand. After January 6, every single FBI officer in the entire agency received orders to prioritize investigating that event above all other cases.

Agents working on human trafficking cases, organized crime, fentanyl investigations, narcotics, or pursuing mass murderers—all were redirected to make January 6 their number one priority. Many agents did not want to abandon their important work, but FBI leadership mandated it.

These career officers, many of whom retired and told their children not to follow in their footsteps, possess invaluable knowledge. They know where the bodies are buried, both figuratively and perhaps literally. Their insider perspective proves more valuable than any number of outside consultants. These are the people who can guide genuine reform efforts and expose the full extent of corruption within federal law enforcement agencies.

The challenge now is whether leadership will have the courage to listen to these whistleblowers and insiders, implement their recommendations, and pursue the comprehensive structural changes necessary to restore these institutions to their proper role: protecting Americans rather than targeting them for their political beliefs.

[00:00] Things are still hot right now with the

[00:02] FBI. We are getting what is build as

[00:05] national security investigation. It now

[00:07] looks like, wait a minute, government

[00:08] overreach. Uh, could it be? The deep

[00:11] state was weaponizing federal power to

[00:13] target and investigate its political

[00:15] enemies.

[00:16] >> On that political list was one of

[00:19] Charlie Kirk's groups, Turning Point

[00:22] USA. In other words, Arctic Frost wasn't

[00:26] just a case to politically investigate

[00:31] Trump. It was the vehicle by which

[00:35] partisan FBI agents

[00:38] and Department of Justice prosecutors

[00:42] could achieve their partisan ends and

[00:46] improperly investigate the entire

[00:49] Republican political apparatus. So,

[00:52] Arctic Frost that he's talking about

[00:54] there, these are unclassified documents

[00:56] that have been released by the FBI and

[00:59] this began in April of 2022. It went on

[01:02] for about half of the year. Uh, but it

[01:04] targeted 92 Republican link groups and

[01:08] individuals including the Republican

[01:10] National Committee, Trump affiliated

[01:12] packs, and as he said there, Turning

[01:13] Point USA. Matt.

[01:15] >> Yeah. I mean, I I want everyone in the

[01:17] audience to think about this in terms of

[01:19] what just happened right a week ago

[01:21] today. Uh Charlie Kirk is assassinated

[01:24] in broad daylight. And when you think

[01:26] about the investigation that needs to be

[01:29] underway by the FBI now, right? Think

[01:32] about what they did not very long ago.

[01:35] because this was the FBI and the DOJ

[01:37] working together with other federal

[01:38] agencies to surveil and investigate what

[01:42] uh let's I mean first off it's wide it's

[01:45] it's it's broad this this is looking at

[01:48] people in multiple states throughout the

[01:50] country this is looking at basically

[01:52] anyone who was a political opponent that

[01:55] included many uh Trump related

[01:57] organizations so you're talking about a

[02:00] whole raft of organizations related to

[02:03] the Trump uh the Trump administration

[02:05] And this is this is we can if we can

[02:08] pull that up there. This is a broad

[02:11] investigation in other words of

[02:13] political opponents. So not only do we

[02:14] have numerous Trump enterprises listed

[02:16] here targeted, we also have guess what?

[02:19] Turning Point USA. Turning Point USA is

[02:23] on this document along with J6 money,

[02:25] whatever the hell that means, right? Uh

[02:27] so of course we know everyone going to

[02:29] J6 is targeted and this means that you

[02:31] know these organizations and people are

[02:33] being investigated and can be surveiled

[02:36] by the federal government. This is the

[02:38] kind of widespread activity that was

[02:40] common under the last administration.

[02:43] >> So is national security as what they

[02:44] bill as national security Chris is this

[02:47] just actually going through and

[02:49] targeting political enemies again?

[02:53] >> Yeah. essentially unfortunately. Turns

[02:56] out the libertarians were right about

[02:58] some things. But uh so put this into

[03:00] context, put it into a timeline. This

[03:03] operation was launched in the spring of

[03:05] 2022.

[03:07] She's basically geared up around the

[03:09] time that President Trump was getting

[03:10] ready to come back and win. And

[03:12] President Biden wasn't doing so hot in

[03:14] the polls and vice president Kla Harris

[03:16] wasn't doing so hot in the polls. Look

[03:18] at the two years previous to the deep

[03:21] state. essentially Timothy Thibalt, the

[03:23] known anti-Trump FBI agent leading this

[03:26] 13 field offices going after this. The

[03:29] two years before that is when they

[03:31] decided we're going to let the civilians

[03:33] handle this. And they had done a

[03:35] Inquisitor's job, a an English

[03:38] propaganda version of the Spanish

[03:40] Inquisition's job on this sort of thing.

[03:42] the two years previously after January

[03:44] 6, uh, the January 6th riot, every

[03:47] single person remotely connected to the

[03:50] Republican party, from the accountants

[03:52] to the tech guys were called into

[03:54] basement in the capital and questioned

[03:56] over and over and over again. And they

[03:58] weren't being questioned about riots.

[04:01] They weren't being questioned about

[04:03] illegal activity. They were being

[04:04] questioned about fundraising, about

[04:05] where they get their money from, over

[04:07] who funds the GOP. This is what the

[04:09] Democratic committees empowered by Liz

[04:11] Cheney were going after and digging

[04:13] into. I know multiple people who had

[04:15] absolutely nothing to do with that riot

[04:18] who weren't even there who were just

[04:19] hauled in because they were trying to do

[04:21] a factf finding mission to help sink the

[04:23] GOP. They were searching for crimes. Now

[04:26] look at the four years before that with

[04:28] James Comey, the first half of it. the

[04:31] FBI set about trying to to knock down

[04:34] Trump, knock him out, take care of him,

[04:37] uh saddle him with all kinds of

[04:39] conspiracies, knock off members of his

[04:41] administration, raid different homes of

[04:43] people after they left for the entire

[04:46] four years of that administration. So,

[04:47] at this point, by 2022,

[04:50] we're on year six

[04:51] >> of FBI tag teaming with Democrats,

[04:55] switching on and off to attack and

[04:57] undermine president, then former

[04:59] president, and now current president.

[05:01] Once again, the once in future

[05:03] president. The this whole thing is part

[05:06] of the reason and and you start you

[05:08] start to see why they were doing it,

[05:10] right? Because when Trump got back into

[05:12] power, he finds it. When Trump got back

[05:15] into power, he found the original

[05:16] documents. When Trump got back into

[05:18] power, he found all of the receipts for

[05:20] all of their misdeeds. And the key to

[05:23] making sure that was never found was

[05:25] Trump either going to prison and never

[05:27] coming back to power. And then maybe

[05:28] some other goofy Republican, some return

[05:30] to normaly comes back and just allows

[05:32] him to get away with the entire damn

[05:34] thing. That's what they were banking on

[05:36] because they are guilty as said.

[05:37] >> That is such a key point because this is

[05:39] Christopher Ray's FBI and we can bring

[05:41] in special counsel Jack Smith. He's the

[05:43] one who is leading all of this, right?

[05:45] These are these are the greatest hits of

[05:47] the names on the left. And Matt, we we

[05:50] see Tulsi Gabbert right now and and

[05:52] others that are like, "Oh, by the way,

[05:53] we're finding classified documents that

[05:56] are in burn bags uh in deep hidden

[05:59] closets within all these different

[06:01] administrations. So, if this is what we

[06:03] found so far, right, and to Chris's

[06:06] point, they didn't they they didn't want

[06:08] this to happen. and they didn't want

[06:09] Trump to win again, but they haven't

[06:11] done a thankfully a good enough job uh

[06:14] of getting rid of the actual evidence.

[06:16] And there are still whistleblowers that

[06:18] are coming forward and saying these

[06:19] things are wrong. If this is what we

[06:21] already know, I mean, the level of

[06:26] lawlessness uh that we will possibly

[06:29] never know about, but the the fact that

[06:31] it is is it's the weaponized government

[06:33] that we see over and over and over

[06:35] again.

[06:36] >> Yeah. And here's here's the thing. You

[06:37] can't become numb to this, right? I

[06:39] mean, as Chris said, the libertarians,

[06:41] damn libertarians are right about

[06:42] something every once in a while. And I

[06:44] mean, they were the conspiracy theorists

[06:46] were correct. I mean, you have a

[06:49] thoroughly corrupt bureaucratic system.

[06:52] Doesn't mean there's not still great

[06:53] people in that system. There are uh

[06:55] there are people even among, you know,

[06:57] the bureaucracy, frontline people who

[06:59] are still uh, you know, good people who

[07:01] want to do the right thing. But you have

[07:03] to clean out this entire thing. you this

[07:07] is the entire apparatus. Again, it's a

[07:09] pirate ship, right? Full of pirates who

[07:11] hate you when you come in on top uh and

[07:13] try to take it over. You got a clean

[07:15] house and you have tens of thousands of

[07:18] people who have been trained now for a

[07:19] long time such that they think this is

[07:22] a-okay. They were perfectly willing to

[07:24] go along with investigating 92

[07:26] Republican linked groups, you know, as

[07:28] Chris says, two years after the

[07:30] election, uh to surveil and investigate

[07:32] political opponents of the sitting

[07:34] president. So you this is not something

[07:36] that's acceptable. It's not something

[07:38] that we can allow to be normalized and

[07:39] it's something that's going to require

[07:41] deep structural reform and getting tens

[07:44] of thousand people out of there. I I

[07:46] don't see any other way around it.

[07:48] >> So Chris, let's bring this back to the

[07:50] audience, everyday people, right? What's

[07:52] the risk for average Americans out

[07:54] there? Because this isn't just DC elites

[07:56] or super PACs or whatever. like this is

[07:59] the federalized government of the

[08:02] biggest superpower in the world.

[08:06] >> There's a real risk and we saw it in the

[08:08] last under the Biden administration. And

[08:10] that's when I thought things were

[08:11] getting dangerous

[08:13] back when I the quaint thinking of

[08:15] things like that being dangerous before

[08:16] open assassinations and broad daylight.

[08:20] But when the FBI started going after

[08:21] normal people like the dad who defended

[08:24] his child at a pro-life rally, raided

[08:27] his house with guns drawn, um when when

[08:30] when local Pennsylvania attorneys who

[08:33] are leftwing, leftwing as heck and

[08:36] largely anti-atholic refused to actually

[08:38] prosecute, the feds swooped in, when

[08:40] they started putting grandmas in prison

[08:42] for crossing their leftwing uh rubrics

[08:45] or crossing Rubicon, what I don't know,

[08:48] crossing the lines the left had

[08:49] established about where you're allowed

[08:51] to pray. That's when I realized this

[08:53] stuff was getting dangerous. When they

[08:55] started arresting people who had nothing

[08:56] to do with January 6, which was bad

[08:59] enough, all the arrests they did, all

[09:01] the craziness of all the people they

[09:02] went after, but then when they started

[09:04] just arresting normal Christian

[09:06] Americans from the from the FBI, that's

[09:09] when I realized, oh, this is not just

[09:12] something that we have to worry about.

[09:14] This is a real threat to to this

[09:17] country. It's a real threat to

[09:18] stability. I mean, I learned this in

[09:20] some of the readings that Dr. Peterson

[09:23] assigned me way back in the day, but the

[09:25] incredible danger that exists when one

[09:28] side of the country doesn't feel like

[09:30] they need to respect the laws or abide

[09:32] by them and then the other side of the

[09:34] country that always did doesn't think

[09:35] the laws are able to protect them

[09:36] anymore. That's when you get to a

[09:38] boiling point as a country and that's

[09:40] where the FBI and the Democrats were

[09:42] pushing things at 100 miles hour.

[09:44] >> Well, Matt, you're the editor-in chief.

[09:46] we had on our website cashel. It's his

[09:50] greatest test. It's an article that you

[09:52] can go see uh at the blaze.com and this

[09:55] is going to be a huge deal for Cash

[09:57] Patel and and how people are going to

[09:59] view uh him as the director of the FBI.

[10:03] But can the FBI actually fix itself?

[10:05] Right? When we look at how systemic all

[10:08] of these problems are, is it going to be

[10:11] able to just be one man that comes out

[10:13] there and fixes this?

[10:15] >> Yeah. Look, this is an enormous problem.

[10:17] So, no matter who you put in charge of

[10:19] any of these agencies or departments,

[10:20] they have a herculean task before them.

[10:23] They have to clean out the Aian stables

[10:25] to use the uh ancient Greek that you

[10:27] know the stables were full of after

[10:29] centuries of use by horses. Uh Hercules

[10:32] changed the river to to you know to to

[10:34] to wash it all away, wash all the filth

[10:36] away. Somehow you have to figure out how

[10:38] to do that. So, this is a very difficult

[10:40] thing. Now, in Cash's case, look, I want

[10:42] to say I'm a huge supporter. I'm a huge

[10:44] fan. I I I wanted him to be confirmed.

[10:46] Uh but I do think that you have uh

[10:49] critics on the right now looking at some

[10:50] of these agencies saying and pushing

[10:52] what what is what are we going to do?

[10:54] What are we going to do to really change

[10:56] these things to really reform the

[10:58] structure of these places? And so

[11:00] scrutiny is a is a good thing. And I

[11:02] think that we owe it to ourselves to

[11:04] have the best people in place and we to

[11:06] make sure that everyone is marching to

[11:08] the same drum to actually reform the FBI

[11:11] because we don't have a lot of time and

[11:13] it's a really really serious business

[11:16] that we're discussing right now. So we

[11:18] need to see the plan for how the FBI is

[11:21] going to move forward and and change

[11:22] itself so that this stuff never happens

[11:24] again.

[11:25] >> Bedford, we'll give you the final word.

[11:26] >> They need to use the agents. They need

[11:28] to use those agents. I was going to jump

[11:30] in there anyways. such a piggy.

[11:33] You need to use the agents who were

[11:34] there who worked on the inside. Those

[11:36] guys who I know who were furious after

[11:40] January 20th, January 6th when every

[11:43] single FBI officer in the entire entire

[11:47] agency was put on investigating January

[11:51] 6. Doesn't matter if they're in human

[11:52] trafficking. Doesn't matter if they're

[11:53] organized crime. Doesn't matter if

[11:55] they're after fentanyl. Doesn't matter

[11:56] after if they're after all kinds of

[11:58] narcotics or mass murderers. the number

[12:00] one priority for every agent in the

[12:02] entire country was made January 6. So, a

[12:04] lot of those guys didn't actually want

[12:05] to do it, but that's the way the FBI

[12:07] was. And those people who were inside,

[12:09] those career officers who retired in

[12:11] time and told their kids, "Don't follow

[12:13] in my footsteps." They're the ones that

[12:15] Cash Patel needs much more than a couple

[12:16] outsiders to come in. They're the ones

[12:18] who can tell you where all the bodies

[12:20] are buried.
