Max Blumenthal Reveals Charlie Kirk's Final Text Messages Showed Fury at Israeli Lobby Pressure
Max Blumenthal reveals explosive text messages from Charlie Kirk sent just 48 hours before his assassination, showing the conservative leader's anger at what he called bullying by Jewish donors. Kirk wrote he was "leaving the pro-Israel cause" after losing a $2 million annual donor for refusing to cancel Tucker Carlson. The messages, confirmed as authentic by TPUSA's Andrew Kolvet and revealed by Candace Owens, expose the intense pressure campaign Israel-first activists were waging on Kirk. Blumenthal connects these revelations to his ongoing Grayzone investigation into the Secret Hamptons influencer summit and the network of Netanyahu allies constantly lobbying Kirk before his death.
Text Messages Reveal Kirk's Breaking Point With Pro-Israel Donors
Max Blumenthal's investigative reporting for The Grayzone continues to uncover evidence of the intense pressure campaign waged against Charlie Kirk in the days before his assassination. In a bombshell revelation, former TPUSA employee and longtime Kirk friend Candace Owens released text messages from a group chat that show Kirk expressing fury at what he characterized as bullying by Jewish donors.
In messages sent just 48 hours before his death, Kirk wrote: "Just lost another huge Jewish donor, $2 million a year because we won't cancel Tucker. I'm thinking of inviting Candace." He continued: "Jewish donors play into all of the stereotypes. I cannot and will not be bullied like this, leaving me no choice but to leave the pro-Israel cause."
The messages were confirmed as authentic by Andrew Kolvet, the communications director for Turning Point USA, who appeared on a show specifically to address the leaked texts. Kolvet stated he had shared the screenshot with people and confirmed "it is authentic."
The Three-Part Investigation Into Kirk's Relationship With Israel
Blumenthal has produced a three-part investigative series examining Kirk's evolving stance on Israel and Netanyahu. The first piece revealed that Kirk had begun to loathe Netanyahu and felt he was being manipulated. According to a longtime friend of Kirk, he felt he was being "bullied" and subjected to what Kirk himself called "moral blackmail."
The second piece exposed the Secret Hamptons influencer summit, where Kirk was constantly held on Zoom calls, WhatsApp groups, and text exchanges with approximately 10 Netanyahu allies in the United States. This group included Josh Hammer (Newsweek editor at large), Shawn Maguire, Bill Ackman at certain intervals, and Rabbi Pesach Wolicki, an American-turned-Israeli settler who runs Israel 365 Action, which organizes propaganda tours for conservative influencers.
The third piece revealed that Robert Shillman, described as "one of the most prolific anti-Islam sugar daddies across the West" and a major funder of TPUSA who helped fuel Kirk's career from a young age, had withdrawn his support because Kirk planned to host Tucker Carlson at a TPUSA event. Shillman is an Israel-first advocate who funds Friends of the IDF and has funded figures like Tommy Robinson and Laura Loomer.
The Group Chat and Cover-Up Allegations
The leaked group chat shows Kirk facing pushback from those around him. After Kirk expressed his intention to possibly invite Candace Owens in response to losing the donor, someone named Sedona wrote: "Please do not invite Candace. That might feel good short term, but it's not good long term in my opinion. Like all groups, you're going to get a wide variety of opinions. That nasty free will thing that God bestowed on us makes life frustrating at times after the dust settles a bit, maybe."
Blumenthal confirmed that Josh Hammer was present in this chat, witnessing Kirk's declaration that he was done with the pro-Israel cause. Since Kirk's death, Hammer has been described as "effectively lying about what was going on," according to Blumenthal, covering up these exchanges.
Disturbing Post From Josh Hammer
Blumenthal highlighted what he called "bizarre" and "unsettling" activity from Josh Hammer the day after the text exchange. On September 25, Hammer shared a 12-year-old Trump tweet from 2013 that stated: "Should be public execution for all to see. You will end this fast."
Blumenthal noted: "This is right after that text exchange where Charlie Kirk says that he's done being pro-Israel and he's sick of being bullied by Jewish donors." While Blumenthal clarified he wasn't implying Hammer was previewing Kirk's assassination, he characterized it as "just weird."
Aaron Maté, co-hosting the discussion, acknowledged it was "weird" but cautioned against drawing direct implications, noting that Hammer, as a pro-Israel advocate, posts "weird things." Blumenthal emphasized: "There is no evidence that Israel participated in this assassination of Charlie Kirk. We're not saying that. It's just weird."
Netanyahu's Attempt to Claim Kirk's Legacy
Following Kirk's death, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu referenced a letter from Kirk, refusing to release its full contents but emphasizing that Kirk remained a supporter of Israel until the end. Blumenthal and Maté discussed how Netanyahu "really wanted to hammer home the message that Charlie Kirk and him were tight and that Charlie Kirk was a supporter of Israel up until the end."
However, the letter was from May, before several significant events: the summit where Tucker Carlson and comedian Dave Smith appeared on stage and Jeffrey Epstein was called a Mossad agent; the Hamptons influencer summit where Kirk was confronted by British Zionist activist Natasha Hausdorff; and the text exchanges revealing Kirk's frustration that occurred just two days before his death.
The Broader Significance for the Pro-Israel Coalition
Maté emphasized the importance of Blumenthal's reporting in the context of shifting attitudes toward Israel, particularly on the American right. "Israel's support in the US has been collapsing. Charlie Kirk was one of the most important gentile assets that Israel ever had, which is why Netanyahu came out immediately and sought to claim his legacy after his killing," Blumenthal stated.
While acknowledging that Kirk "was not a supporter of Palestine, was no friend of the Palestinians, was pumping out anti-Islamic rhetoric all the time," Blumenthal noted that Kirk was "opening up the stage for conservative voices who spoke to the grassroots who were sick of Israel's influence in the United States."
Maté argued that regardless of one's views on right-wing politics, "if you care about ending the Gaza genocide, you at least have to acknowledge the significance of there being a split inside that coalition as represented by people like Tucker Carlson and Marjorie Taylor Greene, Candace Owens." He suggested that this tension within the conservative movement could be part of creating a "restraining force on Israel in American society."
Building Cross-Ideological Coalitions
Blumenthal distinguished between what he called "the professional sectarian left that would never for example have lunch with Tucker Carlson and that's why they are losers who have failed" and those who understand the importance of coalition building. He argued there is "more of a deeper consciousness among those who are actually staying in the US and fighting on this issue about building coalitions because there are so many rifts in the right and the right-wing grassroots is just pretty much done with Israel for its own reasons."
The reporting paints a picture of Kirk as someone caught between his grassroots conservative base, which was increasingly skeptical of unconditional support for Israel, and major donors who demanded unwavering loyalty to Netanyahu's government. The text messages suggest that in his final days, Kirk had reached a breaking point with the latter group.
