The Dehumanization Tactics Behind Abortion Justifications and Why Size and Development Don't Determine Human Worth
A powerful examination of the common excuses used to justify abortion reveals a pattern of dehumanization through language. By dismissing unborn life as "just an embryo," abortion advocates attempt to use different terminology to justify ending a human life simply because it's smaller and less developed. This analysis breaks down the faulty logic behind two major objections, size and level of development, showing how these arguments, if applied consistently, would justify harming born children and other vulnerable populations. The fundamental question remains: does being smaller or less developed than someone else give that person the right to end your life?

Language as a Tool for Dehumanization
The excuses given for abortion fundamentally rely on dehumanization. When advocates say "it's just an embryo," they're employing a linguistic strategy to distance themselves from the reality of what's happening. This is simply using different language to justify the massacre of something smaller than you. The words may change, but the underlying reality remains the same—a human life is being ended.
The Size Objection: A Dangerous Precedent
One of the primary objections used to justify abortion is size. The argument goes: it's smaller than me, therefore I should be able to get rid of it. But this logic falls apart immediately when applied to any other scenario. Consider someone who is 6'5" tall. Should they be able to murder people smaller than them simply because of the size differential? Of course not. Nobody actually believes that physical size grants moral authority or the right to eliminate another human being.
The Development Objection: When Does Life Have Value?
The second major objection centers on level of development. The argument claims that because the unborn child is not as progressed as we are, therefore we have rights over it. But this reasoning creates an impossible ethical dilemma. If lack of development justifies ending a life, then what about a 10-month-old baby? Why should we not be able to eliminate a 10-month-old baby who is significantly less developed than an adult? The uncomfortable truth is that this argument, when followed to its logical conclusion, would justify infanticide and the elimination of any human being deemed less developed than another.
