Luke Barnett's Friendship With Charlie Kirk, From an Airplane Aisle

Showing 16 Luke Barnett videos from Charlie Kirk's video collection.

Luke Barnett's partnership with Charlie Kirk began almost by accident: his wife Angel first approached Kirk by chasing him down the aisle of an airplane, a chance encounter that turned into a friendship and, three years later, the joint launch of Freedom Night in America after Trump's visit to Barnett's church. Barnett described the monthly gatherings as bringing people into his church who would never otherwise attend a service, conservative-leaning but largely unchurched attendees drawn less by theology than by finding a congregation willing to say publicly what they already believed, a dynamic he credited with genuinely growing his church's membership. He and Kirk built a specific model together around 2021's wave of parent-led school board activism, framing prayer and fasting as the spiritual counterpart to the political organizing happening in districts across the country, language Barnett described as reclaiming citizens' rightful ownership of their communities rather than waiting passively for change from Washington. Barnett's church also became the site of one of Kirk's most consequential political favors: hosting Donald Trump's first public appearance after his criminal conviction, arranged on short notice through a direct call between Kirk and the Barnetts on their way to a Sunday service. After Kirk's assassination, Luke and Angel spoke publicly about carrying his mission forward for a new generation.
