Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens Expose the Neo-Marxist Assault on Western Civilization and American Youth

Categories: Interviews
March 21, 2018

Charlie Kirk and Candace Owens sit down to discuss Turning Point USA's mission to counter the neo-Marxist ideology sweeping through American academia and culture. Kirk explains how the organization has grown to over 1,300 campuses with a focus on fighting the postmodernist assault on Western civilization, while Owens describes her role in leading what she calls a black revolution against Democrat Party monopolies. Together, they outline their strategy to combat victimhood culture, reclaim free speech on college campuses, and win over a generation that has been taught to hate capitalism and American founding principles.

The Mission of Turning Point USA

Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point USA at 18 years old, right out of high school, with a dream to turn his generation back toward the founding principles of free markets, smaller government, and the Constitution. Kirk believes Western civilization is under direct attack by neo-Marxist and postmodernist ideas that threaten to destabilize the greatest civilization ever created. This assault is happening primarily in academia, starting in high schools and propagating through colleges across the nation.

The organization has grown to operate on 1,300 college and high school campuses nationwide with over 100 staff members. Kirk credits this success to a great team of investors, donors, and board members who have made the expansion possible. The organization held its year-end event in Palm Beach with over 3,000 students in attendance, demonstrating the growing momentum of the conservative youth movement.

Candace Owens and the Black Revolution

Candace Owens joined Turning Point USA after Kirk saw her speak at an event in Palm Beach. Within 120 seconds, Kirk recognized her as what he calls a once-in-a-generation talent. Owens leads what she describes as a black revolution, providing a home for young black Americans who have been disenfranchised and sold lies and propaganda by the Democrat Party.

Owens explains that the black community often doesn't get the chance to go to college, so her focus extends beyond college campuses to reach young black youth who have been trapped by victimhood narratives. She describes her work as providing these young people with a message they've never heard before: that capitalism is important and big government does harm their communities. Kirk notes that the Democrat Party maintains a 95 percent monopoly on black voters despite being the number one reason those communities are suffering and failing.

Cultural Warfare and Pop Culture Strategy

Both Kirk and Owens emphasize the importance of fighting in the culture war, not just the political arena. Owens points out that conservatism and the Republican Party have failed to tap into culture successfully, allowing the left to dominate Hollywood, academia, and media. She explains that in the black community, where welfare has contributed to the breakdown of the family structure, young people look to cultural icons like Jay-Z and Beyoncé as substitute parental figures, accepting whatever these celebrities say as gospel.

Their approach uses humor, sarcasm, and timely pop culture references to communicate timeless conservative principles. Owens creates YouTube videos that make audiences laugh while presenting ideas they've never been exposed to before. Kirk describes her unique ability to synthesize complex messages into sound bites that resonate with young audiences.

The Victimhood Narrative and Individual Empowerment

Kirk and Owens identify the victimhood narrative as one of the most damaging aspects of leftist ideology. The left wants to create as many victims as possible, keeping people dependent on government and voting for Democrats. In contrast, conservatives believe in the hero's journey—that individuals can make good decisions and break out of poverty through their own efforts.

When people are told they're victims because of their identity group, race, or background, they become less likely to believe they can solve their own problems. Instead, they look to government for solutions. Owens describes this as defeating self-confidence, making people believe in government rather than themselves. Western civilization's unique strength comes from placing the individual first—valuing the consciousness within each person's head and their capacity to create, take risks, challenge, debate, and protest.

The Assault on Free Speech and California as Ground Zero

The conversation turns to California, which Kirk describes as a test case for the destruction of Western civilization. Everything the left wants to do to Western society is being implemented in California, including the assault on traditional gender roles and the elevation of illegal immigrants to unprecedented levels of political power. Kirk jokes that there will soon be more illegal aliens in statewide office in California than Republicans.

The left doesn't believe in sovereignty, borders, language, tradition, history, or culture, according to Kirk. He argues this stems from angry, spiteful, narcissistic individuals who could never achieve success in a market-based economy. Most are professors who have never left universities, so instead of creating value, they want to destroy the world they could never succeed in themselves. Kirk characterizes California's situation as intentional planned chaos designed to provoke a dangerous political revolution.

The Education Problem and Historical Revisionism

Owens expresses sympathy for students who are being taught to hate America and misunderstand basic economic and political concepts. Young people learn that they should feel bad about success, that rich people are the problem rather than the solution, and they receive no proper education about capitalism, communism, or why certain systems work or fail.

The left excels at rewriting history, Owens explains. In the black community, textbooks teach that Democrats have always saved black people while Republicans have constantly tried to harm them—a fundamental lie that shapes political allegiances for generations. Owens shares her personal journey of suffering through a year of cognitive dissonance as she realized that everyone she thought was a racist was actually a hero, and everyone she thought was a hero was secretly a racist. This transformation requires tremendous self-awareness and humility that many people refuse to undertake.

The Death of the American Male and Jordan Peterson's Influence

Kirk and Owens discuss what they see as the emaciation of American masculinity through third-wave feminism, which has created what they call the basement-dwelling beta male. Men have been told that masculinity is toxic and dangerous, discouraging them from embracing informed decision-making and taking ownership of themselves and their families.

They point to Jordan Peterson as a hero who has opened up crucial discussions about personal responsibility and meaning. Peterson, a social psychologist from Canada, teaches that young people learn about freedoms but not responsibilities. Yet the things that require responsibility—family, work, discipline—provide the most meaning and satisfaction in life. Peterson's message about sitting up straight, making your bed, and taking ownership of your life resonates powerfully with young men who have been attacked and assaulted by modern ideology.

The Freeing Message of Personal Responsibility

Owens describes the response she receives from the black community as one of liberation. When she first came out as conservative, she received vicious comments calling her an Uncle Tom and a sellout. But as people started listening to what she was actually saying, the feedback changed dramatically. People tell her they feel freed from an ideology that had enslaved them.

This message of empowerment—telling people they don't have to be victims, that they're not trapped by their skin color—feels fundamentally freeing. Owens approaches the challenge with optimism, believing that once people are presented with an alternative version of events, they can break free from the monolithic thinking imposed on them by the left.

Why People Leave the Left

Kirk describes a pattern of college students and young people coming to Turning Point USA as refugees from the left. The typical reasons they cite are the intolerance, the vapid sanctimonious tone, and the hostility toward wealth creation. Kirk states definitively that college socialists don't care about the poor—they hate the rich. Their doctrine is built on hatred, spite, envy, greed, and jealousy rather than genuine concern for improving people's lives.

The enemies of democracy always overshoot their target, Kirk argues, whether in the 1940s, the 1970s, or today. Neo-Marxists get greedy, which is exactly what's happening now as they try to eliminate genders, destroy free speech, and obliterate civil dialogue. This overreach drives millions of students to seek alternatives, with chapter leaders reporting that people left the left because of the left's intolerance.

The Path Forward and Future Plans

Turning Point USA is just getting started, according to Kirk. The organization aims to move youth sentiment 20 points by 2020 in how young people view America and capitalism. They're expanding staff, raising more capital, and hiring in key states across the country. Owens hints at an exciting new project for the black community that they're keeping under wraps until trademarks are finalized.

Kirk emphasizes that the organization operates on a principle of outworking everyone else. Their movement is built on empowerment, improving people's lives, prosperity, and individual initiative and rights. While the left may be the loudest people in the room, they represent a minority. Kirk and Owens believe their message of personal responsibility and freedom will ultimately prevail over the left's doctrine of hatred and victimhood.

[00:08] Dave Sussman with you at ricocheted calm

[00:12] you can find us all over the Internet

[00:13] and especially on iTunes don't forget to

[00:16] give us that five star rating I'm

[00:17] delighted to be sitting here with thee

[00:19] well basically the entirety of

[00:21] turning-point USA at least from the

[00:23] standpoint of what you guys know and see

[00:25] on Fox News practically every day

[00:28] nowadays we have charlie kirk and

[00:31] candice owens nice having you join us

[00:33] thank you thank you yes and thank you

[00:36] for joining us again we just saw you at

[00:38] CPAC you did indeed I'm happy to be back

[00:40] yeah so before we talk a little bit

[00:43] about what's going on right now here in

[00:44] California because we are at this event

[00:46] called saving California for our

[00:50] listeners and those that are watching

[00:52] what is turning-point and where did it

[00:54] come from where are you guys right now

[00:56] as far as nationwide sure and the

[00:58] purpose so I started turning-point USA

[01:00] when I was 18 years old right out of

[01:02] high school I started with a dream and

[01:04] an idea to change our generation back

[01:06] turn our generation back towards

[01:08] founding principles of free markets

[01:10] smaller government in the Constitution

[01:11] we believe Western civilization is

[01:13] directly under attack by neo-marxist

[01:16] postmodernist ideas that will

[01:18] destabilize the greatest civilization

[01:19] ever created and it's happening in

[01:21] academia it's starting in our high

[01:23] schools and being propagated through our

[01:24] colleges and it's time we start to fight

[01:27] we have to identify the enemy organized

[01:29] better than the left and then be able to

[01:31] create a grassroots movement to fight

[01:32] you know for the future of our country

[01:34] and for our civilization and we're

[01:36] blessed to have Candace on our team who

[01:38] I believe is one of the most articulate

[01:40] intelligent and wise leaders of our

[01:43] generation

[01:43] leading the black revolution which we

[01:45] all know is well overdue our

[01:48] organizations now in 1,300 college and

[01:50] high school campuses we have over a

[01:51] hundred people on staff it's been an

[01:53] unbelievable success story that I wish I

[01:55] could take credit for but we have a

[01:57] great staff an unbelievable team of

[01:58] investors and donors and board members

[02:00] that have helped made this possible we

[02:02] had over 3,000 students our year-end

[02:03] event done in Palm Beach and look this

[02:06] is this is a movement that's going to

[02:07] continue for for a very long time in

[02:09] Candace you're all over the place you're

[02:11] flying everywhere you're speaking

[02:13] everywhere

[02:14] what are you seeing right now as far as

[02:15] the reaction from college kids both you

[02:18] know let's I don't I don't want to talk

[02:19] demographics let's just talk about

[02:21] college kids as a whole right now right

[02:23] so it's interesting because I think that

[02:24] what Charlie you noticed was this sort

[02:26] of college movement and what I'm

[02:27] bringing in is a piece that's been

[02:28] missing and that's the black community

[02:31] and the reason why I want to say it's a

[02:32] little separate from college kids

[02:34] because the black community isn't often

[02:35] get a chance to go to college right so

[02:36] these this is the young black youth

[02:38] movement that I'm talking about and I

[02:40] guess what we're seeing right now is

[02:41] that they needed a home that these kids

[02:43] were sort of disenfranchised they knew

[02:45] that they were being sold lies and

[02:47] propaganda but nobody sort of had the

[02:49] courage to do what Charlie did which is

[02:50] sort of to provide them a home to get

[02:52] them together and say capitalism is

[02:54] important big government does suck so

[02:56] what we're seeing I think is just that

[02:57] the tides are turning completely not

[02:59] just for students on campus but again

[03:01] that same sentiment happening in the

[03:03] black community under saying that

[03:04] something is not right it feels like

[03:06] we've been duped and I would like to

[03:07] provide a home for them as well let me

[03:08] let me tell you and Candace will never

[03:10] say this about herself but her capacity

[03:12] to be able to synthesised hard to

[03:14] understand messages and sound bites

[03:15] using sarcasm and humor intelligence all

[03:19] blended together is some unlike anything

[03:21] I've ever seen and the short story of

[03:22] how I added her to our team is I saw her

[03:25] speak at an event down in Palm Beach and

[03:26] I said you're joining our team to about

[03:28] 120 seconds until I realize she is a

[03:30] once-in-a-generation type talent and I'm

[03:32] here to try to support her in any

[03:33] possible way to help lead that black

[03:35] revolution and look the Democrat Party

[03:37] and the left has a 95 percent monopoly

[03:40] on black voters despite them being the

[03:43] number one reason why those communities

[03:45] are suffering and failing so it's time

[03:47] to double triple quadruple our resources

[03:49] in our focus and the other thing is I

[03:51] believe one leader can actually change

[03:53] something a single person if the 20th

[03:54] century taught us anything it's the

[03:56] courage and conviction of an individual

[03:58] that can change the course of history

[03:59] with me warrants Winston Churchill a

[04:01] Ronald Reagan or Dwight D Eisenhower and

[04:03] I believe that's going to be Candace

[04:04] Owens for the American black community

[04:06] charlie Kirk well she she's very kind we

[04:09] make a great team and we come at it from

[04:11] different angles but we have a lot in

[04:12] common we're both in our 20s fighting

[04:14] for these ideas we're both under

[04:15] unbelievable assault by the left but we

[04:18] love this country and we believe that if

[04:20] we don't do something dramatic right now

[04:22] we're gonna lose it absolutely one of

[04:23] the things that you both do which i

[04:25] think is received so

[04:27] not just by Millennials but adults

[04:29] myself all across the board is that

[04:31] you're not just preaching politics

[04:33] you're hitting people culturally you use

[04:36] humor in your YouTube videos I've seen

[04:39] them they're fantastic funny I mean the

[04:42] one way you were I used to think I was

[04:43] pretty funny you came out as a

[04:45] conservative to your parents and so you

[04:49] know how what is it that conservatism is

[04:52] missing today where they need what you

[04:55] are got what you guys are providing it's

[04:57] exactly that so I think what Charlie and

[04:59] I do is that we present something that's

[05:01] younger and fresher and what I say all

[05:03] the time is what the right has done

[05:05] wrong with conservatism has done wrong

[05:06] what Republicans have done wrong is they

[05:08] they haven't been able to tap into

[05:09] culture successfully right so we see

[05:11] that the left they've taken over

[05:13] Hollywood or academia and media but

[05:15] Hollywood is so important because it is

[05:16] culture it's these things that people

[05:18] look up to these idols in the black

[05:20] community we can talk about the

[05:21] breakdown of the black family right so

[05:23] what happens when welfare takes away the

[05:25] father's right

[05:26] kids start to look for other examples of

[05:28] mom and dad and for the black community

[05:30] for a long time as crazy as it sounds

[05:32] it's been jay-z and Beyonce so whatever

[05:34] they say they just take it up and they

[05:36] love it and they think that it's right

[05:37] and it's correct and it's fundamentally

[05:39] wrong and Natalie fundamentally wrong

[05:40] but harmful to them but to their future

[05:42] answer so what we're trying to do is

[05:44] just present a different idea and what

[05:46] we're doing is not really that amazing

[05:47] it's just that were presenting different

[05:49] ideas they've never been presented with

[05:51] this version and Candice is so correct

[05:53] there and what makes her unique and

[05:55] different is she's using timeless

[05:57] principles and connecting it with timely

[06:00] pop cultural references now I'm not

[06:01] afraid to make her audience laugh not

[06:04] not afraid to make fun of the left or

[06:06] the Democrats or people in Hollywood and

[06:08] that's one of the main attractions of

[06:09] her videos and her content but more than

[06:11] that one of the things that we try to do

[06:12] at Turning Point stay in the culture war

[06:13] and this is the number that one of the

[06:15] biggest things in Candice and I agree on

[06:16] this completely is we have to end this

[06:19] this narrative of victimhood in America

[06:21] the left wants to create as many victims

[06:23] as they possibly can so you look at kind

[06:25] of a conflict of ideas the left want to

[06:28] try to create victims that they can keep

[06:29] them under the thumbprint of governments

[06:32] there's a dependence that they keep on

[06:33] voting for Democrats

[06:34] we as conservatives we believe in the

[06:36] hero's journey we believe that people

[06:38] can make good decisions and break out of

[06:39] poverty Candice being an example

[06:41] and that you can overcome those sort of

[06:43] obstacles well that's that's

[06:44] antithetical towards big government it's

[06:46] individualistic so as soon as you start

[06:48] to create a culture like everyone's a

[06:49] victim because of your identity group

[06:51] because of your race or because of your

[06:52] background you're far less likely to

[06:54] believe that you can solve your problems

[06:56] then you look to government then you

[06:58] look for other people absolutely and

[06:59] that's a major problem what I say is

[07:00] that they defeated self-confident people

[07:02] no longer believe in themselves they

[07:04] believe in government tension with

[07:05] intentional aadya

[07:06] and what makes Western civilization's so

[07:08] unique is that the individual comes

[07:10] first and foremost is the consciousness

[07:12] within your head it's your capacity to

[07:14] create to take risks to challenge to

[07:17] debate to have dialogue to protest the

[07:19] left wants nothing with that they want

[07:20] conformity they want a mob mentality

[07:22] they want us to be almost a monolithic

[07:25] group that will bow down to them and

[07:26] their ivory towers and the coastal

[07:28] elites and that segues nicely to the

[07:30] California seconded discussion because

[07:32] what what makes the conservative

[07:34] libertarian revolution so poignant is

[07:36] young people still want to embrace

[07:38] freedom they really do they just think

[07:40] that the left is on the right side of

[07:41] freedom and they're horribly mistaken

[07:42] let's talk about that and at first I

[07:44] want to just say this and we talked

[07:45] right before the tape ran and how you

[07:47] guys met and before you sat down we had

[07:50] David Horowitz sitting here so I think

[07:51] it's somewhat ironic because it sounds

[07:53] to me like you're carrying on the baton

[07:55] you you met at his freedom conference

[07:57] and he talked and he sat right here in

[07:59] your seat and he said you know Democrats

[08:01] stand up to take care of the oppressed

[08:05] when they in fact they are the

[08:06] oppressors correct and here you are and

[08:09] you're carrying the baton I'm your coach

[08:11] and yeah but I think it's it's it's

[08:13] really from my standpoint I look at this

[08:15] and I have so much optimism for the

[08:16] future when I see that that the baton is

[08:18] being carried I mean David Horowitz is

[08:20] is you know going towards the end of his

[08:22] career he's hopefully got many many more

[08:24] years left but we want to see that

[08:26] energy right that radical right if you

[08:29] will and that's what you bring to the

[08:31] table now talking about radicals let's

[08:34] talk about the radical left you're here

[08:35] in California the home of free speech

[08:38] supposedly was Berkeley or wherever it

[08:40] may have been we're now conservative

[08:42] speakers such as yourself in some cases

[08:45] have been protested against what is

[08:47] going on right now with free speech

[08:49] essentially that's correct Candace

[08:51] expound on that that's exactly right it

[08:53] what we're seeing is sort of

[08:54] returned to they're not going to call it

[08:56] communism they're not going to call it

[08:57] collectivism but that's what it is it's

[08:58] cultural Marxism Jordan Peterson does a

[09:00] great job of explaining exactly what

[09:02] happened here they reintroduced these

[09:04] ideas post modernist post-modernism and

[09:07] that's how we've sort of it seeped into

[09:09] our schools that's exactly what happened

[09:11] and what it comes down to is they don't

[09:13] want diversity of thought Charlie always

[09:14] says they want you to look different but

[09:16] to think the same and that's exactly

[09:18] what's happening on college campuses and

[09:20] that's a huge threat

[09:21] huge huge threat that we're trying to

[09:22] combat every single day and specifically

[09:24] California is a test case for the

[09:27] destruction of Western civilization

[09:29] everything that they want to do to

[09:31] Western society they're beginning to

[09:33] implement here in California whether it

[09:34] be the assault on traditional gender is

[09:36] the implementation of illegal immigrants

[09:38] at the highest possible level I joke

[09:40] around there's gonna be more illegal

[09:41] aliens in statewide office in California

[09:42] and Republicans in the next ten years

[09:44] because now they disappoint an illegal

[09:45] immigrant to a statewide position which

[09:47] is incomprehensible to me but if the

[09:49] look at the left they don't believe in

[09:51] sovereignty they don't believe in

[09:51] borders they don't believe in language

[09:53] they don't believe in tradition they

[09:54] don't believe in history they don't

[09:55] believe in culture now why is that

[09:57] what's because they're threatened by

[09:58] things at work because they themselves

[09:59] could never achieve any level of success

[10:01] personally these are angry spiteful

[10:03] self-centered narcissistic individuals

[10:05] that could never ever succeed in a

[10:07] market-based economy most of them are

[10:09] professors they've never less left

[10:10] universities so instead of trying to

[10:12] create value for themselves they want to

[10:14] hate the world that they could never

[10:15] succeed themselves in and that that in

[10:17] its essence is evil because they want to

[10:19] destroy us that have the capacity the

[10:20] intellect the creativity to be able to

[10:22] make something of ourselves they they

[10:24] want to just watch the world burn to use

[10:25] a quote from one of my favorite you know

[10:27] Batman movies and they're doing a really

[10:28] good job of it it's intentional chaos

[10:30] how can we bankrupt the state of

[10:32] California how can we give the mob of

[10:34] the Democrat teacher unions as much

[10:35] power as possible how can we have the

[10:36] most amount of non-citizens come into

[10:38] the state imaginable you've combined all

[10:39] those things together you have

[10:41] intentional planned chaos and then

[10:44] you're gonna have a political revolution

[10:45] that's gonna be really dangerous to us

[10:47] right and what is the answer to this

[10:49] well I mean I I mean demographically

[10:52] Candace hits us but I'll let her go and

[10:55] I think it also what we're talking about

[10:57] here and I always do feel bad the

[10:58] students I always have a soft spot for

[10:59] them because they're learning things

[11:01] wrong they're learning to hate America

[11:03] that's what I grew up understanding is

[11:05] that you should feel bad about success

[11:06] that rich people are the

[11:08] problem right not the solution which

[11:09] they are the solution capitalism is a

[11:11] solution they don't understand what it

[11:13] means to be well what capitalism is or

[11:15] what communism is or why it's wrong or

[11:17] why it doesn't work

[11:18] they're they're not even being taught

[11:19] history right so what the left does

[11:21] really good is that they they rewrite

[11:22] history every single time so right in

[11:24] the black community what I learned right

[11:26] in textbooks we think was the right

[11:27] answer is that Democrats have always

[11:29] saved black people and Republicans have

[11:32] constantly been trying to harm us that's

[11:33] fundamentally a lie but that's what's

[11:35] been taught to us so would that sort of

[11:37] the uphill battle that we face is sort

[11:39] of trying to tell them okay

[11:40] these ideas that you learned are wrong

[11:41] for me I came from a left I had to

[11:43] suffer through a year in cognitive

[11:44] distant dissonance really to go oh my

[11:47] god every person that I thought was a

[11:48] racist yeah it's really a hero and every

[11:51] single person I thought was a hero is

[11:52] secretly a racist that takes on a

[11:54] tremendous amount of self-awareness do

[11:56] that and humility and many people are

[11:58] not willing to do that because you go

[11:59] you go 25 years of calling somebody a

[12:01] racist only to find out that you were

[12:03] miss educated at our and that's that's

[12:05] where the narcissism and the hubris

[12:06] comes in with a modern American Left

[12:08] they'll never ever objectively put forth

[12:10] an opinion different than theirs that's

[12:11] why they hate free speech they don't

[12:13] want to sit through a speaker that might

[12:14] challenge a micron of what they believe

[12:17] to be right and with that being said so

[12:19] how do you fix it well and this is the

[12:21] death of the American male if you really

[12:23] what's going on here is because men in

[12:25] particular have been emaciated and

[12:26] attacked by this third wave feminist

[12:28] movement and we are seeing the kind of

[12:30] this creation of the basement-dwelling

[12:31] beta male that have only been talking

[12:33] about how wrong it is to embrace

[12:35] masculinity how danger it is dangerous

[12:38] it is toxic it's toxic

[12:40] right how dangerous it is to make

[12:42] informed decisions or to actually take

[12:43] ownership of yourself or your family

[12:45] which is horrible right but even if you

[12:46] come if you compliment that mechanis and

[12:48] I talk about this a lot young people are

[12:50] only talk they only learn about the

[12:52] freedoms they never learn about

[12:53] responsibility but if you look at in

[12:55] your life what actually gives you the

[12:56] most amount of meaning and the most

[12:58] amount of satisfaction it's a things

[12:59] that require responsibility that always

[13:02] give you the most amount of meaning

[13:02] would be family your job getting up

[13:05] early that's where you find Truffaut

[13:06] film this is jordyn peterson stuff of

[13:08] course it's what's right and i give him

[13:10] full and make your bed yeah right

[13:11] exactly and look Jordan Peterson's a

[13:12] hero of mine sir of Canada we've had him

[13:14] on the show he's phenomenal and and I

[13:16] only try to be a prism of which these

[13:18] good ideas expressed through because

[13:20] what he talks about is in Contra

[13:21] truth yes and and look what Jordan has

[13:24] done and he's from Canada he's he's open

[13:26] up the discussion mm-hmm and he has said

[13:28] listen guys I'm a social psychologist

[13:29] I'm not a politician I have seen these

[13:31] problems for thirty years get worse

[13:34] worse and worse right if we don't do

[13:35] something dramatic it's no longer a

[13:37] political issue it's it's gonna ruin our

[13:39] civilization it's a really interesting

[13:41] market that we're in if you think about

[13:42] it we're just returning back like common

[13:44] sense right sit up straight shower

[13:46] that's what Jordan Peterson preaches

[13:47] right babies you can contrive yeah right

[13:50] not a government the middle thanks

[13:51] little things right but it's also self

[13:53] responsibility and what Jordan talks

[13:56] about so well is and in that wonderful

[13:58] Toronto Canadian accent yeah how the

[14:00] hell are you supposed to have any sort

[14:03] of credibility with social justice if

[14:05] you're that if your room is a mess

[14:06] seriously to take ownership of your life

[14:09] sit up straight the world is all about

[14:11] suffering yes and you know what for

[14:13] young men that have been attacked and

[14:15] assaulted and turned into this kind of

[14:17] beta beta Malcolm and town they say wow

[14:20] I can actually do something with my life

[14:21] right I can actually apply you know what

[14:24] I've been given for good yeah people

[14:26] love that and that's what I'm seeing in

[14:27] the black community when I first came

[14:29] out I was getting so similar it's so

[14:30] interesting there were so many vicious

[14:32] comments Uncle Tom come sellout and then

[14:34] they started to listen to what I was

[14:35] saying and now the feedback I get is

[14:37] it's freeing for them right they feel

[14:38] almost enslaved in ideology and I know

[14:41] we're short for time here he might but

[14:43] my last question if you both are good

[14:45] I'd love to continue with this mine for

[14:47] 10 more minutes my question for you is

[14:49] similar to to Horowitz when he made that

[14:52] transition in 84 when he openly came out

[14:55] it make a member he was a leftist

[14:56] radical for those that don't know I know

[14:57] you both do and then he came out he

[14:59] supported Reagan and holy cow it was

[15:02] just he was persona non grata what is

[15:05] that like for you personally I see it as

[15:07] a challenge I don't know I'm like the

[15:09] eternal optimist like I feel really

[15:11] great about it and like I said we are

[15:12] seeing that transition happening they've

[15:14] never been presented with this version

[15:16] of events right they've only been told

[15:17] the same thing which is that black

[15:18] people are a monolith so imagine I'm

[15:20] essentially saying to them I believe in

[15:22] you I don't have to be a victim lifter

[15:24] you know how great that feels to say

[15:26] like you do not have to be victim you

[15:27] are not trapped within yours within your

[15:29] skin complexion so the message

[15:31] ultimately that we preach is empowering

[15:33] so at first you know I think that there

[15:34] are some shock

[15:35] affects because they've never been

[15:36] presented with it but then what you

[15:37] start to see is that they turn to the

[15:39] other side and they go wow this feels

[15:40] really good I'm not a victim I can do

[15:42] this

[15:42] choices fundamentally freeing about that

[15:45] right right that's fantastic now

[15:48] transferring that to kids or young

[15:51] adults how do you convey that message to

[15:54] them that they could stand up and going

[15:56] back to the Petersons analogy be a

[15:58] lobster stand up straight

[15:59] you know I love lobster right okay you

[16:02] know so so but again it comes back to

[16:05] the solution right what you both are

[16:07] doing you're at the pinnacle of this

[16:08] massive organization yes you're both out

[16:11] there every single day I can find

[16:12] something on television or YouTube or

[16:14] whatever it may be from both of you

[16:16] you're working you've got the energy no

[16:19] one outworks us I'm going out right her

[16:20] by the way I'm impressed there's a one I

[16:22] think a turning point we say no one will

[16:23] ever outwork us and no it's incredible

[16:25] it's incredible it really is so but but

[16:28] transferring that okay what oh let me

[16:31] ask you this then from this point of

[16:33] view if I can see turning-point and I

[16:37] assume it's the tip of the iceberg and

[16:38] everything is under the surface of

[16:39] what's going on what are the next steps

[16:41] or turning-point what are the plans and

[16:43] how do you continue to change the

[16:45] culture and we're just getting started

[16:46] and whether it be the metrics of what we

[16:47] want to hit with our event attendance or

[16:49] a chapter creation or activism on

[16:51] college campuses we want to move youth

[16:53] sentiment 20 points by 2020 how they

[16:55] view America how they view capitalism

[16:57] which we think is a fundamental couple

[16:59] of years order look we're expanding our

[17:02] staff are raising more capital we're

[17:04] hiring you know in key states Candace is

[17:06] now doing a very very exciting project

[17:08] that's been Americans that Chimere me

[17:12] about a little bit today but we have

[17:14] something a little tease a little bit

[17:16] exciting that we're very careful with

[17:17] saying the name because it someone will

[17:18] steal I know I mean okay I think we're

[17:20] just waiting for some trademarks to go

[17:22] through but we're working on a really

[17:24] huge project that is going to be so

[17:26] exciting for the black community and I'm

[17:27] telling you we're gonna blow this thing

[17:29] out of the water I am so optimistic

[17:31] about 2020 well and we're gonna get it

[17:33] over the finish line in a big way to

[17:35] never forget the enemies of democracy

[17:36] over always overshoot their target

[17:39] whether it be in the 1940s or the 1970s

[17:42] the neo-marxists get greedy that's

[17:44] exactly what's happening right now

[17:45] they're trying to eliminate genders

[17:47] they're trying to destroy free speech

[17:48] they're

[17:49] they're trying to absolutely obliterate

[17:50] any sort of semblance of civil dialogue

[17:52] and because of that we have chapter

[17:54] leaders and millions of students coming

[17:55] to us saying I left the left because of

[17:57] the left wait that I want nothing to do

[18:00] with their intolerant it's disgusting

[18:02] Wow and I want something different and

[18:04] we're the ones that what was their

[18:05] turning point well I mean it's all very

[18:07] different but but you can ask Candace I

[18:09] mean she's a refugee from the left that

[18:11] the typical the typical answer we get is

[18:14] the intolerance the vapin sanctimonious

[18:17] tone that they have about their

[18:18] worldview their hostility towards any

[18:21] sort of wealth creation and I'll say

[18:22] this definitively college socialists do

[18:25] not care about the poor they hate the

[18:27] rich it is it is a doctrine of hatred

[18:29] and spite and envy and greed and

[18:32] jealousy it's not about trying to be

[18:34] benevolent or altruistic it's about

[18:36] destruction of course and and so when

[18:38] you have a movement built on hatred it's

[18:40] very hard to make that a widespread

[18:43] ecumenical movement it really is and

[18:45] that's where we come in because we're

[18:46] all about empowerment improving people's

[18:48] lives and prosperity and individual

[18:50] initiative and rights and all of a

[18:51] sudden that's what really is gonna be

[18:53] the winner and they're gonna be just

[18:54] that angry small mob that might be the

[18:56] loudest people in the room but there's

[18:57] the minority we're gonna have to have

[18:59] you both back on the show folks can find

[19:02] you Candice I know you've got a really

[19:04] active Twitter account both of you do

[19:06] what Twitter at real Candice oh I'm on

[19:09] Facebook at real Candice Owens and it's

[19:11] they refuse to verify every thousand

[19:14] followers no verification because we're

[19:16] also up against Silicon Valley but one

[19:18] of the funniest tweets I've ever seen in

[19:20] my life was Candice Owens and all caps

[19:22] says Trump is a racist

[19:24] I hate all Republicans and in

[19:25] parentheses like see I'm trying to get

[19:27] my verification there's definitely I

[19:34] mean they could check out our web site

[19:35] TP us a.com Twitter at charlie kirk 11

[19:38] we're causing a lot of trouble and we're

[19:39] gonna win they're gonna lose I'm more

[19:42] optimistic now than I was 20 minutes ago

[19:43] thank you both so much thanks appreciate

[19:46] you being with us
