Charlie Kirk on Bill Gates Buying Idaho Farmland and the Future of Land Ownership in America

November 5, 2021

Charlie Kirk responds to concerns about Bill Gates and other billionaires purchasing vast amounts of farmland across Idaho and the American Northwest. Kirk argues that states like Idaho should block these purchases, describing them as part of a larger strategy by globalist elites to turn Americans into permanent renters. He warns that land will become the new currency during economic instability and encourages families to resist selling their farms despite lucrative cash offers. Kirk connects this trend to the World Economic Forum's vision where people will "own nothing" by 2030, positioning Idaho's resistance as critical to preserving American property ownership and independence.

The Threat of Billionaire Land Acquisitions in Idaho

During a Turning Point USA event, Charlie Kirk addressed a question about wealthy individuals like Bill Gates purchasing large amounts of land and converting homes into expensive rental properties. The questioner expressed concern not just for themselves, but for young people who want the same opportunities previous generations had to own property and build wealth.

Kirk acknowledged the importance of the question and shared that he and the questioner both come from families with deep American roots—Kirk being a son of the American Revolution with family history dating back to 1620.

Kirk's Radical Position on Foreign and Billionaire Land Ownership

Kirk took a firm stance on the issue, stating that Idaho should prohibit Bill Gates from buying vast amounts of farmland in the state. Anticipating pushback, he acknowledged that some might argue this position isn't conservative or free market, but he countered by characterizing Gates as "an imperialist" who doesn't have Idaho's best interests at heart.

Kirk argued that Gates's purchase of hundreds of thousands of acres in Idaho serves some malevolent purpose, and state legislatures have the power and should use it to block such acquisitions. He suggested that if Gates wants to buy land, he should do it somewhere else, not in Idaho.

Land as the New Currency

Kirk warned that Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming will become critical battlegrounds in this struggle over land ownership. He predicted that with coming inflation, land will become the new currency. Those who own property that can produce—whether livestock or crops—and who own substantial amounts of it will become the wealthiest people.

According to Kirk, this is precisely why oligarchs are flooding into states like Idaho, attempting to purchase farmland. He acknowledged the temptation families face when offered five times the cash value for their family farms, but urged them to understand the deeper strategy at play.

The Strategic Reversal: Rural vs Urban

Kirk posed a series of rhetorical questions to illustrate his point: Why would someone sell their family farm only to buy a condo in Denver? Why would Idahoans give up their strategic advantage—the very land that people like Bill Gates want—to move into urban areas while the billionaires move into rural ones?

He suggested that Gates knows what's coming: disorder and chaos. That's why he wants to own something objectively valuable. Gates and others like him want to buy up family farms and large swaths of land to use against ordinary Americans, turning them into permanent renters on land their ancestors worked and sacrificed to settle when Idaho had no heating or modern conveniences.

Legislative Action Required

Kirk called on state legislatures to take a stand, arguing that allowing someone worth 135 billion dollars to buy up family farms and vast amounts of land is not a conservative value. He framed it as a matter of resisting tyranny—the tyranny of "some Microsoft creep globalist" who wants to turn Idahoans into permanent renters.

The audience responded with applause to Kirk's passionate defense of property ownership and his call for legislative action.

The World Economic Forum and the Great Reset

Kirk connected the land grab to the World Economic Forum's Great Reset agenda, referencing their promise that by 2030, people will "own nothing and you'll be happier than ever." He positioned Idaho as standing in the way of this vision, emphasizing that understanding this bigger game is critical to resisting it.

Kirk's message was clear: the battle over land ownership in Idaho and similar states is not just about real estate—it's about preserving American independence, family legacy, and the ability of future generations to own property rather than becoming permanent renters in a world controlled by billionaire elites.

[00:00] you have bill gates and all these other

[00:01] people going up and buying land they're

[00:03] turning these homes these mortgage these

[00:05] homes that just get built into like

[00:06] giant expensive

[00:08] rental projects if a wealthy person can

[00:11] buy can literally purchase people's

[00:13] freedom what do we do about that because

[00:15] that's like that's not just my concern

[00:16] for me that's concerned for every young

[00:18] person here who wants the same future my

[00:20] parents and everyone else before i'm

[00:21] dead yeah so this is this is an

[00:23] important question thank you though and

[00:24] we share that history of my family's

[00:26] been here since 1620 and i'm a son of

[00:28] the american revolution so our our

[00:30] ancestors were fighting alongside um and

[00:32] i want to make one point on that because

[00:33] i think it's important um how we talk

[00:35] about the american revolution um because

[00:37] it's sometimes misunderstood so yeah

[00:40] first again i i'm sort of a you know a

[00:42] radical with this i think idaho should

[00:44] say that bill gates should not be able

[00:46] to buy up swat swaths of farmland to do

[00:48] what he wants in the state of idaho and

[00:52] i know that some people say that's not a

[00:54] conservative free market position yeah

[00:56] bill gates is an imperialist he doesn't

[00:58] want what's best for idaho him buying

[01:00] about hundreds of thousands of acres is

[01:02] for some malevolent purpose he did that

[01:04] here right was it here it was here okay

[01:07] it was here i know i read it was

[01:08] somewhere in the northwest and yeah the

[01:10] legislatures could and should block it

[01:11] like go buy a bunch of land somewhere

[01:13] else um and look this this goes to show

[01:16] this is why idaho and montana and

[01:17] wyoming are going to be the places where

[01:19] the rubber really hits the road land is

[01:22] going to be the new currency everybody

[01:23] i'm telling you with inflation that's

[01:25] coming through if you own something that

[01:27] can produce if you own livestock if you

[01:30] owe something that has objective value

[01:31] and you own a lot of it then you are

[01:33] going to be the richest people ohio has

[01:35] a lot of land and a lot of decent people

[01:37] and a lot of producing land and that's

[01:39] why all of a sudden you see the

[01:40] oligarchs all coming into these states

[01:42] trying to buy up your land i know it's

[01:44] tempting you get five times cash offer

[01:46] to go sell your family farm i know it's

[01:48] tempting i get it but understand there's

[01:50] a deeper game at play where are you

[01:51] gonna go you're gonna go buy some condo

[01:53] in denver because of that

[01:55] right so let me get this straight you're

[01:56] gonna give up your strategic advantage

[01:58] to give up what bill gates wants so you

[02:01] could go into the urban area while he

[02:02] goes into the rural he knows what's

[02:04] coming next he knows that there's gonna

[02:06] be disorder and chaos and he wants

[02:07] something that's objectively valuable so

[02:09] what can we do about it the legislature

[02:11] needs to take a stand against it and say

[02:12] that's not a conservative value to come

[02:14] in when you're worth 135 billion dollars

[02:16] to go buy up family farms and swaths of

[02:18] land to then use that against you and

[02:20] make you guys permanent renters when

[02:22] your ancestors and the people that lived

[02:23] here and sacrificed when there was no

[02:26] heating

[02:27] right in idaho all of a sudden that we

[02:29] now have to live under the tyranny of

[02:30] some microsoft creep globalist that

[02:32] wants to come in and make you you know

[02:34] some sort of permanent renter like we

[02:36] shouldn't tolerate that it's not right

[02:37] so all right thank you

[02:39] [Applause]

[02:41] and yeah i mean if you look at look at

[02:43] the great reset the promises from the

[02:45] world economic forum they said by 2030

[02:47] you'll own nothing and you'll be happier

[02:49] than ever

[02:50] and idaho stands in the way of that and

[02:52] so just understand the big game that's

[02:54] that's at play here
