The Mystery of Charlie Kirk's St. Michael Necklace and What Federal Agents Were Really Looking For
Candace Owens examination of the unusual focus on Charlie Kirk's St. Michael necklace following the events of September 10th raises troubling questions about what federal agents knew and why. Multiple Turning Point USA members recounted personal stories about the necklace, while law enforcement reportedly searched for it at the scene. The intense interest in this piece of jewelry, combined with other irregularities including soil excavation, missing footage, and the absence of standard forensic tests, points to a theory that challenges the official narrative. This analysis explores why explosive residue, not a rigged necklace itself, may explain the federal fixation on recovering this specific item.
The Necklace That Everyone Talked About
The St. Michael pendant that Charlie Kirk wore on September 10th became the subject of extensive storytelling among Turning Point USA members. Multiple people within the organization shared personal accounts about the necklace, creating what some observers found to be a bizarre amount of attention on a single piece of jewelry.
According to various accounts from those close to the situation, the necklace featured a cross and St. Michael's medal. Erika Kirk explained that she had given Charlie the necklace when they were dating, encouraging him as a Christian to wear a cross. Initially resistant because he wasn't a jewelry person, Charlie eventually put the cross on during a moment when he felt the weight of the world on him and never removed it again until the events of that day.
The necklace was reportedly ripped off as people tried to save his life. What happened next raises significant questions about law enforcement's priorities and knowledge.
Why Were Federal Agents Searching for the Necklace?
One of the most perplexing aspects of this story is that law enforcement was actively looking for Charlie Kirk's necklace. When someone from the team retrieved belongings from the vehicle, they discovered the necklace draped over a bag. A cop reportedly said, "Oh, we've been looking for that."
This raises immediate questions: How did the cops even know that Charlie was wearing a necklace that day? Why would a necklace be a priority item in their investigation? The level of interest federal agents showed in recovering this specific piece of jewelry suggests they believed it held evidentiary value.
The necklace was eventually given to Mikey to pass along to Erika, who now keeps it with her at all times.
The Explosive Residue Theory
A theory emerged suggesting the necklace itself might have been rigged as a weapon. However, this theory can be strongly discounted for two critical reasons. First, it would introduce uncontrollable variables into a carefully planned operation. There was no guarantee Charlie would wear the necklace that morning. Second, placing an explosive on someone traveling in a highly pressurized airplane cabin alongside Mikey McCoy, Blake Neff, and the entire team would have been extraordinarily reckless.
A more plausible explanation for the federal focus on the necklace centers on explosive residue. If an alternative theory about what happened is correct, the necklace would likely contain the most explosive residue of any item because it was positioned directly on Charlie's chest. If federal agents were involved in a cover-up, securing that necklace would be essential. The safest way to make it disappear from the investigation would be to give it to his widow, effectively removing it from the chain of evidence.
A Pattern of Anomalies That Suddenly Make Sense
When examining the theory that Charlie's microphone was rigged rather than a traditional shooting taking place, numerous oddities from September 10th onward begin to align in a coherent pattern. Each strange detail that seemed disconnected suddenly fits into a larger picture.
The bomb dogs were kept away from the scene, which would make sense if explosive material was present that investigators wanted to conceal. The crime scene was immediately paved over and the soil was excavated, an unusual step that becomes logical when considering the properties of explosives like PETN.
The Science of Explosive Residue in Soil
Scientific research shows that PETN in particular has low water solubility and high soil absorption. This means explosive residue clings tenaciously to soil, making it extremely difficult to eliminate without physical removal of contaminated earth.
Dan Merrill, a production assistant called in on a Sunday to work the scene, described arriving to find that another government team had already excavated 8 to 10 inches of soil from around the entire area. Everything under where the pavers were located had been removed. When asked why so much dirt was excavated, Merrill admitted he wasn't looking at the situation with a suspicious lens and it didn't cross his mind to question it.
The high soil absorption characteristic of PETN would explain why such extensive excavation was necessary. This wasn't about recovering bullet fragments; it was about eliminating evidence of explosive residue.
Additional Anomalies Explained
Several other irregularities fit this alternative theory. Shattered black plastic or glass was reportedly seen all over the SUV that transported Charlie to the hospital. Under the rigged microphone theory, this would be debris from the road mic.
No available footage or eyewitness reports exist of someone firing a shot from the building in question. Despite the official narrative, no one has come forward saying they saw the shooter take the shot. This absence becomes less mysterious if no shot was actually fired from that location.
Federal agents did not conduct a standard GSR (gunshot residue) test when Tyler Robinson was brought in after what was described as a 33-hour manhunt. If Robinson was wearing the same outfit and had fired a weapon, this test would have been standard procedure. The failure to conduct it suggests investigators knew he would fail the test, which would undermine their case.
The SD Card and Missing Evidence
Another anomaly involves someone violating the crime scene to remove an SD card from security footage. This footage would have captured whether the fatal injury matched the official narrative. If the evidence contradicted the gunshot story, removing that footage would be essential to maintaining the official version of events.
No Ambulance on Standby
Unusually, there was no ambulance on standby at the event. This represents a significant departure from standard security protocols for high-profile political events. The speaker notes that ambulances were always on standby at Turning Point USA events during their touring days.
Under the alternative theory, the reason becomes clear: paramedics would have seen shattered road mic pieces and other evidence that did not support a gunshot wound. Having the security team transport Charlie instead avoided having trained medical professionals examine evidence at the scene.
The Forgiveness Paradox
Perhaps one of the most psychologically revealing details is that Erika Kirk was quick to forgive Tyler Robinson publicly, yet took much longer to address her feelings about Drewski. When she finally spoke about Drewski weeks later, she appeared looking like an assassin and expressed far more anger toward him than she had shown toward Tyler Robinson.
This inversion of expected emotional responses is bizarre. It becomes easier to understand if Tyler Robinson didn't actually do what he was accused of doing. Forgiving someone who didn't harm your loved one is considerably easier than forgiving someone you believe bears actual responsibility.
Connecting the Dots
Each of these anomalies standing alone might be dismissed as coincidence, administrative oversight, or the chaos of a traumatic situation. However, when examined together under the framework of the rigged microphone theory, they form a coherent pattern. The necklace, the soil excavation, the missing GSR test, the removed footage, the absence of an ambulance, and the paradoxical forgiveness all align with a narrative that differs substantially from the official account.
The intense federal interest in recovering Charlie Kirk's St. Michael necklace may represent the most revealing detail of all. It suggests investigators knew the necklace would contain evidence that contradicted the official story, making its recovery and removal from the investigative process a priority.

If the feds were in on it, as we all
suspect, then they would have gone,
"Okay, um, where is that? We need to
make sure we get rid of this necklace in
some capacity and the apest bet would
have been to say, well, we're giving it
to his wid first briefly discussed the
necklace that Charlie Kirk was wearing
on September 10th." Uh, as we all know,
it was a St. Michael pendant. There was
much ado about this necklace, a bizarre
amount of storytelling relating to the
necklace, and it sort of became this
fixture amongst the Turning Point USA
goons. Take a listen.
>> And so Gigi and I stayed in our room and
that morning he woke up super early and
he came into our bedroom into the
bathroom cuz that's where his wedding
ring was and his necklace and he came in
and he grabbed that
>> and his necklace had a cross on it and
it had St. Michael's metal.
>> Yeah. I wear it every day. It's right
here.
>> Wow. Oh, it's so beautiful.
>> Yeah. And so when they finally cleared
it, I got into the car and I pulled out
my bag and draped over my bag was
Charlie's necklace that had a cross and
medallions on it. And I had heard they
were looking for that.
And so cop was like, "Oh, we've been
looking for that." I said, "I got it."
>> So I just took it.
Um, that was actually a necklace that
Erica gave Charlie uh when they were
dating and she said, "You're a
Christian. Why don't you wear a cross?"
And he said, "I don't know. I just I'm
not a jewelry guy." And um something
happened um where he was pressed and he
felt the weight of the world on him and
he put that cross on and he never took
it off again until um he was um until he
was assassinated. And um the people
caring for him ripped it off as they
tried to save his life. And um uh Erica
has it on her all times now. When we
were about to leave, we finally got
access to the car again
and Erica was asking for
a necklace that Charlie was wearing.
It's a cross necklace and had some
medallions on it.
And when I went into the backseat of
that car, I pulled my bag out and that
necklace was attached somehow just kind
of draped over the bag.
So, I gave it to Mikey and I said,
"Mikey.
I want you to give this to Erica." It
was a comfort to her.
Lot to be said there. Um, first and
foremost, why were the cops looking for
the necklace? How did the cops even know
that Charlie was wearing a necklace on
that day? Um, there was a theory after
people started realizing how odd it was
that everyone had a personal story about
this necklace. There was a theory that
began floating around that maybe it was
the necklace that was rigged. And I
would like to say categorically that I
do not subscribe to that theory. I do
not believe that was the case. I
actually strongly discount that theory
for two very simple reasons. One, that
would leave things to chance. There was
a chance that Charlie didn't put on his
St. Michael necklace that morning. Uh
there was also a chance that while
traveling in a highly pressurized cabin
on a plane that morning to Salt Lake
City that something could have gone
horribly wrong. I'm simply put with that
much planning that needed to be involved
um to rig something they would not have
introduced a variable that was
completely out of their control like I
hope he wears his necklace today and
they also wouldn't have put Mikey McCoy
Blakey Nef and the entire team that were
on board that jet traveling with Charlie
with an explosive. So I just I just
completely discount that theory. It is
much more likely that the reason there
was focus on the necklace, the reason
the feds were looking for that necklace,
the reason um that it was given to Erica
is because if our theory is correct, it
contained explosive residue. That would
have probably been the single most thing
that had explosive residue on it because
it was on his chest. It would be that
simple. And if the feds were in on it,
as we all suspect, then they would have
gone, "Okay, um where is that? We need
to make sure we get rid of this necklace
in some capacity." And the safest bet
would have been to say, "Well, we're
giving it to his widow." Now, as we
unpacked yesterday, when you run this
theory that Charlie's microphone was
rigged, suddenly every little oddity in
this story, every little oddity from
September 10th onward begins to make a
lot more sense. To brief briefly recap,
we put together this graphic for you
guys. The rigged mic would go a long way
in terms of explaining uh why the bomb
dogs were kept away from the scene,
okay? Okay? Because they would have
smelled the explosive. Why the crime
scene was immediately paved over and the
soil was excavated. That's because uh
explosive residue as we have learned
really hangs on to soil. It is highly uh
soil absorbed. So I can show you that
here. I think we have a little uh
science article that you can look up.
You can research this on your own. But
it says that the low water solubility
and high soil absorption um of PETN in
particular, if we think that is the
explosive, it would be very problematic
and you would in fact need to dig out
the soil. We introduced to you guys uh
uh the Dan Merrill who was the guy who
was the PA who was called to come in on
a Sunday. Well, actually further on in
his interview with Jimmy Rex, he
describes how he was actually the second
person uh or the second team, so to
speak, that arrived. Before he even had
arrived on that Sunday, just a few days
later, they had sent another government
team to go in and to dig out all of the
soil, 8 to 10 inches of soil. Take a
listen to what he said.
>> When I showed up, I took pictures of
what it looked like. They had taken out
about 10 in of the dirt around the whole
place, right? You know, you can right
now you can see where the pavers are.
Everything under that probably 10 inches
had been excavated.
>> Why do you think they excavated so much
dirt?
>> You think that they were trying to make
sure they got any bullet fragments or
anything that was in there?
>> I wasn't looking at it with that lens,
dude. Really? I wasn't
>> It didn't even cross your mind.
>> It didn't cross my mind.
>> Well, my answer to that would be, as I
said, writing this theory that it is
because of high soil absorption. Uh, it
is a fixture of PETN explosive. Again,
another thing that just sort of would
lock into place. Why the feds were
searching for Charlie Kirk's necklace.
The same reason, explosive residue. Why
there appears to be shattered black
plastic or glass all over the SUV which
transported Charlie to the hospital. Uh,
the that would be the road mic. That
would fit in perfectly. That would make
sense. Why? There is no available
footage or any eyewitness reports of
someone seen firing a shot from the Loy
building. That's a big strange anom an
anomaly here. Why do we not have those?
Yes, I saw him take a shot. Um yeah,
because no shot was actually taken from
the Loi building. Why the feds did not
conduct a standard GSR gunshot residue
test when Tyler Robinson was brought in.
because they knew that he would fail it.
And that would not help them in court if
Tyler Robinson, who they say they got
after a 33-hour manhunt, 33 hours on a
minute over, failed the gsr test,
especially when they say he was wearing
the same outfit. Um, it would also
explain why Terara Farnsworth violated
the crime scene immediately, quite
boldly, to remove the SD card from that
back footage because it would have
captured that the 306, which would have
decapitated Charlie, did not go through.
Um, also, it would explain why there was
unusually no ambulance on standby. I
always had an ambulance on standby at my
Turning Point USA events when I toured.
This is an anomaly. It would answer to
that would be because well the
paramedics would have seen the shattered
road mic pieces and all of the other
evidence which did not support a gunshot
wound. Um that would be the reason why
you would just have his security team
transport him under this theory. Again,
we're thinking while it's still legal to
do so. Lastly, it would go some way of
explaining why Erica was quick to
forgive Tyler Robinson before the world,
quicker than she was able to forgive
Drewuski when she came out weeks later
looking like an assassin and saying
that, you know, she was so angry at
Drewski. Much more angry than she was at
Tyler Robinson. So bizarre. So bizarre.
Well, it's easy to forgive someone if
you maybe know they didn't do anything.
I could probably forgive someone who
didn't do something to me either. I
don't know.
