Steven Olikara's Politicon Debates With Charlie Kirk and His Tribute
Showing 6 Steven Olikara videos from Charlie Kirk's video collection.
Steven Olikara built a career moderating exactly the kind of debate Charlie Kirk was known for, spending several years at Politicon setting the ground rules as Kirk faced off against Hasan Piker and Kyle Kulinski and Sam Seder on capitalism, tax policy, and free speech on campus. As founder of the Millennial Action Project, later Future Caucus, Olikara framed those debates as a chance to show young Americans that sharp disagreement didn't have to mean contempt for the other side.
After Kirk's assassination, he described their exchanges as spirited but genuinely joyful, and said the two shared a real commitment to arguing in good faith even when they disagreed on almost everything. Olikara warned that America is drifting toward what he called a cold civil war, driven by what he termed a division industrial complex profiting from keeping people angry at each other, and pointed to Robert Kennedy's response to the assassinations of 1968, a call for understanding and empathy over retaliation, as a model worth returning to. He compared healthy democratic disagreement to a jazz ensemble, where listening and responding to other voices produces something better than any single musician could manage alone, and argued that humanizing political opponents is the only way out of the cycle Kirk's death exposed.
