A Campus Conversation About Origins and Faith
Charlie Kirk encountered Opal, a college student who opened the conversation somewhat defensively, unsure of his religious views. When Kirk shared that he believes in Jesus Christ, Opal admitted she hasn't found a religion yet and asked if he had any recommendations. Kirk suggested Christianity, offering to share resources like the Bible app, though Opal wanted something physical from him directly.
The conversation took a deeper turn when Kirk asked where she thinks people go when they die. Opal responded with "nowhere" - claiming science tells us there's nothing after death. This opened the door for Kirk to challenge her assumptions with thoughtful questions rather than condemnation.
Challenging the Big Bang Without God
Kirk pressed Opal on the science she claimed supported her view, asking her to explain the evidence that disproves an afterlife. She acknowledged that neuroscience has documented over 25,000 afterlife experiences in just the last decade, and that no one can actually confirm what happens after death unless they come back to life. Kirk pointed out that this means both positions require faith - she has faith in her view, he has faith in his.
When discussing the origins of the universe, Opal said she believes in the Big Bang. Kirk used this as an opportunity to walk her through the logical implications: if the Big Bang created space, time, and matter, then something must have started the Big Bang. When asked what that was, Opal admitted she didn't know, but insisted it wasn't God.
Kirk explained that the laws of physics themselves point to the necessity of something outside the universe to start it. He noted that Christianity teaches God is the Alpha and Omega - eternal, without beginning or end - while the universe clearly had a starting point. Whatever made that beginning happen exists outside of time and space. That's what we call God.
Finding Common Ground in Beginnings
Kirk pointed out that the first words of the Bible - "In the beginning" - align with Opal's belief in the Big Bang as the beginning. He suggested that perhaps God spoke the Big Bang into existence. When Opal pressed on how God could always exist, Kirk acknowledged it's a good question but turned it around: her own worldview requires accepting that something came from nothing, which also requires faith.
Opal eventually admitted she doesn't study science deeply, nor does she study faith. Kirk respected that honesty, and the conversation remained civil throughout despite some tense moments and occasional profanity from Opal.
The Power of Gentle Apologetics
The commentary following this exchange celebrates Kirk's approach - he didn't condemn Opal for being lost, but instead made her think about her beliefs and how she arrived at them. The strategy was to lovingly guide her toward truth rather than simply win a debate. The fact that Opal said she "hasn't found religion yet" indicates openness and a void in her life that only a relationship with Christ can fill.
The analysis points out the logical inconsistency in Opal's position: she believes humans came from a cosmic accident, random processes producing the intricate beauty and complexity we see everywhere. Yet nearly everything we use daily was created by someone with intention and intelligence. Doesn't it make more sense that something greater than us created the universe and all life within it?
From Cosmic Soup to Divine Purpose
The response challenges the evolutionary narrative - the idea that humans evolved from fish in the ocean and emerged from some primordial soup. Instead, it argues for purposeful creation by God Almighty, who gave humans feelings, moral understanding, and unique characteristics. This isn't just one religion among many options - Christianity claims exclusive truth because there's only one way to defeat death, one life-giving Redeemer: Jesus Christ.
The message emphasizes that we're only on earth once, our bodies are temporary, but physical death isn't the end for those who are saved. It's actually the beginning of the eternal gift God has for those who love Him. The call is to stop trusting in the world and secular science, and instead recognize that God is the ultimate scientist and creator of all things.
The Gospel Invitation
Drawing from Matthew 11, the message shares Jesus's invitation: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." This means no one has to remain depressed and trapped in sin - there's a clean slate available through Christ, a born-again experience where the Holy Spirit forms Christlike character within believers.
The spiritual dimension of reality is emphasized - there's a supernatural side to existence. The real Superman already came, beat death, and made it possible for us to be like Him. As 2 Corinthians 5:13-15 explains, Christ died for everyone so that those who receive His new life will no longer live for themselves, but instead will live for Christ who died and was raised for them.
A Call to Reconciliation and Mission
The final appeal is for those who haven't yet made the decision to reconcile with God - to make today the day to receive eternal salvation through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. For those already saved, the call is to keep spreading the good news of the Gospel, to pray for strength to stand firm in truth despite Satan's deceptions in society, and to remember that the best is yet to come when the King of Kings returns.
The overall message celebrates being "fired up for the Lord" and wearing the full armor of God daily. It's a reminder that Christians should engage the culture with the same composure and class that Kirk demonstrated - not with condemnation, but with thoughtful questions that challenge assumptions and point people toward the truth that sets them free.

[00:00] so you seem rather fired up how are you
[00:02] I'm fine what's your name I'm opal okay
[00:05] how are you I'm fine what do you want to
[00:07] talk about what do you believe I don't
[00:09] know what do you believe in uh Jesus
[00:11] Christ
[00:14] okay
[00:16] amen genuine question do you expect when
[00:20] for you to say that that I'm going to
[00:21] disrespect you because of your no no
[00:24] it's just I don't know your religious
[00:26] views I could guess but I don't know I'm
[00:29] not really religious I don't haven't
[00:31] found a religion yet oh okay unless you
[00:32] want to recommend something to me I
[00:34] recommend Christianity it's pretty
[00:36] awesome so like pamphlet or something uh
[00:38] a Bible uh you can download the Bible
[00:40] app no but I want it from you you know
[00:42] so much sorry I want from you you know
[00:44] so much I know very little got this big
[00:47] head I do have a big head do you have a
[00:50] Bible no you don't have anything to tell
[00:53] me where do you think you go when you
[00:55] die um nowhere like nothing this why do
[00:57] you believe that that's
[01:00] science tells you you go nowhere when
[01:01] you die okay well can you explain if
[01:05] you what do you think happens how do you
[01:07] think that works when we di the science
[01:09] behind it well actually Neuroscience has
[01:11] over 25,000 different pieces of evidence
[01:14] to show people of afterlife experiences
[01:16] in just the last decade every every
[01:18] civilization in history of the world has
[01:19] believed in an afterlife or a God why is
[01:22] science right now and everyone else is
[01:24] wrong because they didn't have this
[01:25] science and the modern technologies that
[01:27] we have now so what Discovery has
[01:29] disproven the after life probably
[01:31] scientific but no one can actually
[01:33] confirm Because unless you're coming
[01:35] back to life then nobody can confirm
[01:37] that yet so you can't disprove it and
[01:40] you can't prove it either so it takes
[01:41] Faith yeah I have faith yeah and I don't
[01:45] and you know what if you think that
[01:46] that's going to happen then that's fine
[01:48] okay I'm not mad at you so how did the
[01:50] world come into existence Big Bang so
[01:53] the Big Bang so so so who so the Big
[01:56] Bang made space time and matter what
[01:58] started the Big Bang you knows not God
[02:01] well but the laws of physics mean that
[02:03] there must be a god get there I'm
[02:05] confused that's a genuine like everybody
[02:07] say but God first but God always is but
[02:10] how did he get there my question that's
[02:12] a good question so so Christianity would
[02:14] argue that it is is the Alpha and Omega
[02:17] it always is but the universe had a
[02:19] starting point so therefore whatever
[02:22] made the universe predated the universe
[02:25] that's God isn't it I don't know if you
[02:28] believe in a big bang a lot of different
[02:30] things but why does it always have to
[02:32] come back to God well whatever you can
[02:33] call it you could call it the idea of
[02:35] God but if you believe in the Big Bang
[02:37] which you say you did it means that
[02:39] space time and matter had a beginning
[02:41] which means that something made that
[02:43] beginning happen do you believe in the
[02:45] Big Bang happening or yes I believe God
[02:47] started the Big Bang he spoke it into
[02:49] existence spoke it into yes I'm just
[02:52] still conf well because look the first
[02:55] words of my Bible are the same of your
[02:57] view in the beginning okay you believed
[03:00] the Big Bang was the beginning I believe
[03:01] in a big bang okay so maybe God made it
[03:05] happen or but what's your explanation I
[03:08] don't have an explanation cuz I don't
[03:10] study science but I don't study Faith
[03:13] okay that's fair enough you know so I'm
[03:14] not going to tell I'm not going to put
[03:16] on my ass to tell that's
[03:19] fine wow a lot going on there so first
[03:22] off she thinks us humans came from some
[03:25] Cosmic soup some random Cosmic soup
[03:28] where a big bang of nothingness just
[03:30] exploded into these beautiful intricate
[03:33] details that we see all around us yeah
[03:35] okay make that make sense you want to
[03:37] talk about having faith in something it
[03:39] makes a whole lot more sense if you just
[03:40] use your brain for a second and think
[03:42] logically that almost everything that we
[03:45] use on a day-to-day basis was created by
[03:47] someone so wouldn't it make more sense
[03:49] to conclude that something bigger than
[03:51] us created the universe and all the life
[03:53] that exists inside of it sure sounds of
[03:55] a heck of a lot better to me and I
[03:57] believe we were purposely made by God
[03:59] Almighty he's the one who tells us
[04:01] what's right and wrong he gave us
[04:03] feelings and so on and so forth that's
[04:05] the only thing that makes sense there's
[04:07] no way that you can convince me that I
[04:09] got this luscious beard and evolved from
[04:12] some fish in the ocean but hey you got
[04:14] the right to believe in foolishness if
[04:15] you want to I prefer to live in reality
[04:18] so someone please get that girl a Bible
[04:20] because I already know if she read from
[04:22] Genesis to Revelation we' see a
[04:24] completely changed woman I guarantee it
[04:26] and hopefully she at least opened up her
[04:28] App Store on the phone after this
[04:30] discussion hopefully just listening to
[04:32] Charlie Kirk will eventually just click
[04:33] in her brain and it'll all make sense
[04:35] and God bless that man because he
[04:37] couldn't handled that situation any
[04:39] better just total class and composure as
[04:42] always even though she started off a
[04:44] little rude coming in his big head like
[04:46] that then got kind of vulgar at times
[04:48] with those curse bombs overall she was
[04:51] way more respectful than a whole lot of
[04:53] folks that we see on these Looney
[04:55] campuses and the best thing us
[04:57] Christians can do in these situations is
[04:59] exactly what Captain Kirk did don't
[05:01] condemn people that are lost instead
[05:03] make them think about their beliefs and
[05:05] how they came to that conclusion then
[05:07] lovingly guide them to the knowledge of
[05:09] truth remember we want to see people
[05:11] saved not just win some debate and the
[05:14] fact that she said she hasn't found
[05:15] religion yet that's huge because that
[05:18] means that there's still hope to fill
[05:19] that void in her life and speaking from
[05:21] someone who used to be a filthy lost
[05:23] soul myself I know that gaping hole can
[05:26] only be filled by the relationship that
[05:28] true Christianity provides we don't just
[05:30] represent some other religion because
[05:32] there's only one way to beat Death only
[05:34] one lifegiving Redeemer and his name is
[05:36] Jesus Christ I don't care what anybody
[05:38] says that's the way the truth the life
[05:40] and all you got to do to have that is
[05:42] repent of your sins and have faith in
[05:44] him then you'll have eternal salvation
[05:46] we're only on this side of the grass one
[05:48] time all of our bodies are passing away
[05:50] but physical death isn't the end when
[05:52] you're saved it's the beginning of the
[05:54] real gift that God has for all of us
[05:56] that love him so stop putting your trust
[05:58] in the world stop stop putting your
[06:00] trust in secular science God is the
[06:02] scientist and the creator of all things
[06:04] he's good all the time and all the time
[06:06] he's good from Everlasting to
[06:08] Everlasting in Matthew 11 Jesus says
[06:11] come to me all who labor and are heavy
[06:13] laden and I will give you rest take my
[06:15] yolol upon you and learn from me for I
[06:17] am gentle and lonely in heart and you
[06:19] will find rest for your souls for my
[06:21] yoke is easy and my burden is light so
[06:24] you don't have to remain depressed and
[06:26] hurting in that bondage of sin because
[06:28] you get a clean slate when you come to
[06:30] Christ you are born again and from that
[06:32] moment on we pick up our cross deny
[06:35] ourselves and the Holy Spirit forms a
[06:37] Christlike character within us the
[06:39] father Son and Holy Spirit God those
[06:42] three in one will lead us in the
[06:44] righteous path or on the righteous path
[06:46] through this destructive world and
[06:48] there's a spiritual side of living y'all
[06:50] a supernatural side the Superman has
[06:53] already come he beat Death and fixed it
[06:55] so that we could be like him in 2
[06:57] Corinthians 5:1 13-15 Paul puts it this
[07:00] way if it seems we are crazy it is to
[07:02] bring glory to God and if we are in our
[07:04] right Minds it is for your benefit
[07:06] either way Christ's love controls us
[07:09] since we believe that Christ died for
[07:10] all we also believe that we have all
[07:12] died to our old life he died for
[07:15] everyone so that those who receive his
[07:16] new life will no longer live for
[07:18] themselves instead they will live for
[07:20] Christ who died and was raised for them
[07:23] amen so if you haven't yet make today
[07:25] the day that you reconcile with God so
[07:28] that you can be with him for all
[07:29] eternity and for those of us that have
[07:31] already punched that ticket we need to
[07:33] keep spreading the good news of the
[07:35] Gospel we need to keep praying for
[07:36] strength from the almighty to stand firm
[07:39] in the truth despite all the lies that
[07:41] Satan keeps deceiving Society with and
[07:43] know that the best is yet to come when
[07:45] the King of Kings returns someday his
[07:48] name is Jesus Christ amen but I end my
[07:50] little sermon rant there I'm fired up I
[07:52] love being fired up for the Lord and I'm
[07:54] always going to have that full armor of
