Turning Point Academy's Expansion From Campus Chapters to K-12 Schools

Showing 20 Turning Point Academy videos from Charlie Kirk's video collection.

Turning Point Academy represented Charlie Kirk's effort to extend his campus-organizing model into K-12 education, launching with a 600-student school in Phoenix built in partnership with Dream City Christian School. Kirk framed the initiative as a direct response to what he called credentialing-based ruling-class power, arguing that building alternative schools focused on classical American history, Western civilization, and constitutional education mattered more than continuing to criticize public school curricula from the outside. He traced the personal origin of the idea back to his own fifth-grade decision to accept Christianity at Christian Heritage Academy, run by Dr. Hutz Herzberg, who later became head of Turning Point Academy, describing the connection between that early religious commitment and his adult political organizing as inseparable rather than two separate tracks he had to reconcile. Kirk paired the K-12 expansion with parallel efforts through TPUSA Faith, including an inaugural Pastor Summit in San Diego that drew over 400 pastors representing 215,000 weekly congregants, and partnered separately with pastor John Amanchukwu to open Dream City Christian School specifically to combat critical race theory and gender ideology in Arizona classrooms. Historian Bill Federer extended the same framework at a Freedom Night event, arguing that America's congregational governing model traced back 5,000 years to Israel's pre-monarchy period, providing the historical grounding Kirk used to argue Christian civic engagement, including building schools, was a founding-era expectation rather than a modern political innovation.
