Charlie Kirk's Push for Aggressive Immigration Enforcement

Immigration enforcement was one of Charlie Kirk's most consistent policy priorities, argued across legal, constitutional, and campus-debate fronts. He challenged ACLU head Anthony Romero's call for cities to sever ties with federal immigration authorities as tantamount to a modern secession crisis, proposing that federal funding be cut from any sanctuary city that refused cooperation. Kirk defended Trump's invocation of the 1789 Alien Enemies Act to deport Tren de Aragua gang members despite a federal judge's order to turn the deportation flight around, framing the resulting constitutional confrontation as a deliberate and favorable battleground given the president's strong Article II authority over immigration; a subsequent Supreme Court ruling limiting nationwide injunctions to their originating district, explained by White House official May Mailman, validated much of that strategy. On campus, Kirk debated a student directly over Arizona's SB 1070 law, rejecting the student's characterization of routine document checks as evidence of white privilege, and separately invoked the murder of Laken Riley at the University of Georgia as a direct consequence of insufficiently enforced border policy. He went further in some appearances, arguing that state governors should mobilize their National Guard units to enforce border security independently if the federal government under Biden failed to act.
